ModaPet Bowls Integrate Form and Function at affordable pricing! Review/Give-away THREE Winners!

The first time I learned about ModaPet Bowls was when I won a give-away for a ModaPet dog food bowl   for Dakota from the popular blog Pepper's Paws.

That was in March of 2013 and that bowl, to this day, is a favorite!

When I was presented with the opportunity of featuring ModaPet on Cat Chat With Caren and Cody I jumped at the chance.

Why ModaPet?

The ModaPet Bowl is:
  • BPA Free
  • Made from Food Grade Materials
  • Dishwasher Safe
  • Highly Durable
  • Skid Resistant
  • Tip Resistant
  • Fade Resistant
From ModaPet:

ModaPet is a US based company with Italian influenced design.

ModaPet is driven by attention to the important details that include "form with function", and strive to provide great value with high quality materials and proven product cost controls. This unique philosophy truly differentiates ModaPet within the pet industry.

Our designs are fun, different and add a "fashion" look for your pet and your environment. The design team carefully assesses each project and is personally involved from the inception through manufacturing and finally to the customer. All products are manufactured using certified food grade and BPA free plastics to protect the health of our animal "customers".

We know that your pets are part of your family. We strive to blend your pets' furnishings into your lifestyle, so we design products that no longer need to be hidden from friends and family.

Notice the "skid resistant" area in black on the bowl that we received that is shown in the above photo. The ModaPet bowls are frankly the best made bowls that I own. As promised, they do NOT skid, they are sturdy and are visually appealing.

The bowl featured above (and below),  is the bowl that was sent to Cody to review.  It is called "Some Like It Hot" and holds two cups. At first, Cody was a little taken aback that he is a mancat and received a HOT PINK bowl, but after giving it careful thought, he realized he was secure enough with his mancat-manliness that he could scarf down his noms out of ANY color bowl!

From ModaPet:

The base is a TPE polymer. This material meets all of our design objectives. The TPE is soft, similar to rubber, to aid in the non-skid feature. In addition, TPE is overmolded to the ABS for a solid bond. The overmold makes our bowls dishwasher safe. If rubber were used, then the base would be glued. Glue would break down after a couple of dishwasher cycles.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Dakota's ModaPet bowl, and now Cody's, are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITES!! I know you will love them too!GUESS WHAT? THREE of you will find out just how much you love them!

ModaPet has agreed to do a give-away for THREE LUCKY WINNERS who are 18 and over and RESIDE IN THE U.S. (I apologize to my International readers, this is something that I have no control over.  The cost of shipping outside of the U.S. is quite high. Whenever I am able to offer a give-away that includes everyone, I always do!)  WIN A ModaPet BOWL! (a $14.95 value).

HOW TO ENTER:TAKE A LOOK AT THE COLORS OF THE BOWLS (CLICK HERE ) AND LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW TELLING ME WHICH COLOR BOWL YOU WOULD LIKE, SHOULD YOU BE ONE OF THE THREE LUCKY WINNERS!

THE GIVE-AWAY IS OPEN NOW AND WILL END ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH AT 5PM EST. THE WINNERS WILL BE CHOSEN BY WWW.RANDOM.ORG AND WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7TH.

GOOD LUCK!!

In full Disclosure:I was not compensated for this review/give-away. I was sent a ModaPet bowl in exchange for my honest review.

Get Rid Of Cat Hair 1-2-3 With SwiPets Pet Hair Removal Cleaning Gloves-Review And Give-Away!!

I was contacted a few weeks ago by a super nice representative for a new and innovative product that effortlessly removes pet hair from furniture, clothing and hard to reach places with just a swipe of the hand. The product is called:
Having both a cat and a long-haired dog that leave fur and paw prints EVERYWHERE, I am always on the prowl for a product that will remove pet hair and paw prints from furniture. I have tried MANY.  I will say that SwiPets worked much better than the majority of the products I have tried, and I am happy to share them with you!
No Cody, it is actually BOTH of you who leave a trail of fur wherever you go, but to test SwiPets it was actually YOUR fur and mess that I decided to test it on.

Cody likes to hang out in the dining room on our black suede chairs. I can always tell when he has been there because of this:

EXHIBIT A

AND

EXHIBIT B
Enter SwiPets!

This is the 2-glove package
the package I received to try
had the single glove
which looked like this:
SwiPets:

  • are designed with a "high-tech" coating
  • are machine washable
  • they pick up dirt and dander
  • reduce allergens

It was time to put SwiPets to the test:
I pulled out my glove
and went to work!
But it wasn't work!
It was a breeze!
Look at the cat hair
that SwiPets was picking up!
AND
one important note!
Because I didn't read
the package correctly
and I didn't use the SwiPet in a circular motion,
I had to vacuum the remaining hair on the chair
that was MY FAULT
and NOT the fault of the product!!
REMEMBER EXHIBIT A?

SwiPets cleaned that as well!
I give SwiPets
4 paws up!

Enter to win!
The kind lady at SwiPets has offered to have a give-away and ONE LUCKY PERSON (who is 18 and over) and  who RESIDES IN THE U.S. will win a SwiPets package  (probably the one that I received which is a $9.99 value.)
To enter just leave a comment telling me you would like to win! That's it!
The give-away is open now and will END ON WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 5TH AT 5PM. THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN BY RANDOM.ORG AND WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH. GOOD LUCK!

Can't wait to see if you won and want to order your SwiPets NOW? Visit their website right here

In full Disclosure: I was not compensated for this review/give-away. I was sent a SwiPets glove to test, and to give my honest opinion. I only share products that I feel will be of benefit to my readers.

  • WHY DO I FEEL SOOOOOOOO OVERWHELMED AND STRANGE!!??

Nobody likes to feel strange, least of all ME.  That is why when I was about to attend my first BlogPaws Conference in 2011, Barbara Strunin and I began the BlogPaws Conference Newbies Group!

The group was designed to give other "Nervous Nates and Nellies" like myself,  a safe-zone to connect, vent, share concerns, learn the conference "ropes", and hopefully make some new friends in the process!
See these tables?
There were EIGHT ROTATING
"NEWBIE" TABLES

I have attended conferences that from the day I arrived until I departed, not only was I lost, I could find NO ONE to ask a question,  I wasn't made to feel that my attendance mattered, I was given misinformation and left with a super bad taste in my mouth.

We do NOT want that to happen to you! All of the BlogPaws Ambassadors and the BlogPaws Team themselves are here to help YOU! YOU MATTER!

Book Review AND Give-Away! The CAT,the DEVIL,and Lee Fontana By Shirley Rousseau Murphy and Pat J.J. Murphy

''The Devils Greatest Trick was making you think he never existed''. This is one of many recurring themes in the superbly crafted paranormal thriller The CAT,The Devil, and Lee Fontana, by the husband and wife author team, Shirley Rousseau and Pat  J. J. Murphy. The tale features colorful complex multi-dimensional characterizations of the central players: Lee Fontana a train robber paroled from jail after many years of incarceration, the Devil determined to avenge a bet he lost, and a ghost cat, a friendly and comforting spirit to steady and embolden Lee to fight and defeat Satan. The book is filled with other fascinating participants including a little girl who has amazingly accurate premonitions, a psychotic stalker and the lover that got away. In a fascinating narrative, the authors manage to intertwine the lives and destinies of all the participants.

It has been often noted that the devil is in the details. The Murphys have spun a yarn that takes the reader on a magical journey filled with mystery, intrigue and the supernatural. Utilizing literary techniques such as flashback and foreshadowing we learn how many years ago Lee's grandfather bested the devil on a wager. Lucifer is determined to get his due however, vowing to harass his descendant Lee until he owns his soul. The devil is an expert observer of human nature which makes him such a formidable adversary. He realizes most people''teeter on a cusp between evil and a blind life of virtue''.The devil believes if a person has a respectable amount of evil within them he will be able to take control of them. The antithesis of the devil is the yellow ghost tomcat Misto. He is the embodiment of Lee's conscience ,all that is right and good. He is a powerful ally at the times Lee starts to succumb to temptation. Lee is a lifelong criminal, finally paroled after many years, who has good intentions, but is very conflicted.

I will not ruin the story for you by revealing the ending. Suffice it to say you will not be disappointed. Kudos and accolades to the authors for creating such a suspenseful page turner. I venture to say you may have to wait for Hell to freeze over until you encounter a better read.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:In addition to her popular Joe Grey mystery series for adults, for which she has received ten national Cat Writers’ Association Awards for best novel of the year,
Shirley Rousseau Murphy is a noted children’s book author who has received five Council of Authors and Journalists Awards. Two of her children’s books were written in collaboration with her husband, Pat.

Pat J.J. Murphy spent his spent his career as a US Federal Probation officer in California and in Oregon, the Chief USPO in Panama, and also in GA where he retired as Chief Probation Officer for the Northern District of Georgia, after which the Murphy’s returned to their home in California, settling with their two lady cats on the Central California coast.

Fun Book Friday! "The Adventures of Anoo and Pashmack" by Salmeh Moghimi, Illustrations by Golnar Sepahi

Delightful! Fun! Charming! Joyful! Imaginative! These are just a few words that come to mind after reading The Adventures of Anoo and Pashmack.

"Remember,
different eyes see
different things.
The beauty of life
is to see what
you can see."
The story is about Anoo and her cat, Pashmack. Pashmack is Anoo's best friend, who also teaches her about LIFE.

The Adventures of Anoo and Pashmack begin when Anoo tells the reader that there are MANY ways to see life. She then encourages the reader to join her as she shows how life can be seen in many different ways. Readers follow the title characters to the beach, where they discover new ways to experience the world around them.

From the Publisher:"For centuries, children around the world have been taught about five senses; see the light of the sun, hear the wind blow, taste the salt of the sea, smell the fresh-cut grass, touch the dog's shaggy fur. Author Salmeh Moghimi offers an alternative view:what if we also learn about the world with our feelings?"

Even boredom can be overcome with  just a twist and a turn and keeping your eyes WIDE OPEN. Teaching children that if you are "open" and accepting, you will be "open" to possibilities all around you!

Just by changing positions  the world can be seen in different ways!

I loved the page that says:

Now lie on your belly, face down. I'll bet you can't see the water. What if you put your head in the sand? What do you think you'll see? I haven't tried that one yet!
But I don't think you'll see too much.

The author hopes children will learn to use their intuition, or "heart sense," as well as their other senses. She believes animals should be a part of people's early experiences as they can help validate children's feelings and other senses.

The illustrations by Golnar Sepahi are whimsical and engaging, Pashmack the cat is visible on every page. Parents and teachers can have the child "find Pashmack" on the page (because on some pages Pashmack is smaller than on others)

From the author: My book teaches children to value and have respect for their own feelings as well as for life. In memory of my beloved cat, Pashmack, who taught me how intelligent animals are, how much they understand the power of love, and how willing they are to teach us.

So let's listen.

Be a Pet Blogger in the Know! The BlogPaws Community and the BlogPaws Conferences are the places to go!

Hi all! As many of you know, I am proud to say that I am one of the BlogPaws Ambassadors for this years' BlogPaws Conference! When I say that, it seems so surreal!

As I mentioned the other day, when I began this blog in 2009, I didn't have a clue about how to blog. I was frantic. One day I googled pets and stumbled into the BlogPaws website and my prayers were answered!

From BlogPaws:
"BlogPaws is a Social Media Company focused on teaching pet enthusiasts, pet bloggers and all pet parents how to use social media effectively and responsibly. Our dedicated team of professionals works year round to connect our bloggers and micro-bloggers to the brands they buy every day. Following our first amazing conference in 2010, we launched an online community site for pet bloggers, pet enthusiasts, pet people on Twitter and Facebook and brands eager to tap into a vibrant, vocal community of serious writers, bloggers, tweeters. It has since grown to over 3000 registered (approved) members, and continues to attract pet people from all over the world."

" We continue to focus our attention on providing education, being a trusted resource to pet parents everywhere, and sharing the reality of life with pets. In that reality is the expectation that the brands we buy every day are a big part of our lives, and connecting to the people who are part of those brands, to facilitate conversation and connection, has become a growing part of the BlogPaws purpose.

In 2012, we became a proud member of the Pet360 family of sites, dedicated to Pet Parenting. Simplified."

There is so much more that I need to learn, and I hope to never stop learning! Being a member of the BlogPaws Community ensures that I will have a plethora of information, just a mouse-click away. You will find posts like these:

Story Saturday:"Shell-less Shelby" by Author and Illustrator Jessica Kirsenlohr-A Turtle on a Cat Blog?

Yes you read that correctly! The book I am featuring today, is Shell-less Shelby an adorable and vividly illustrated Children's book by Author and Illustrator, Jessica Kirsenlohr.
http://www.jessicakirsenlohr.com

Why am I featuring a book about a TURTLE on a Cat Blog?

Because when I was contacted  asking if I would feature this book, I thought the story addresses some important themes such as:

  • Trying new things until you find the things you are passionate about and good at
  • Never giving up and enjoying the struggle of the journey
  • The special bond of a best friend and the support system that comes with that friendship
  • Being nice, grateful and helping others
Not to mention it is downright charming and adorable!

Shelby is a shell-less sea turtle in search of her shell and in essence, her niche and path in life.
Shell-less Shelby was Kirsenlohr's senior project in college at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. She wanted to create a children's book because she always loved stories, and reading and creating characters.

Shell-less Shelby would be a great book for parents to read to their child at bedtime, it would also be fabulous for a library story hour, or for an elementary school teacher to share with the younger crowd (lower elementary grades). Parents and teachers will love the message of the book while children will be smitten with and attracted to some of the most precious illustrations I have had the pleasure of viewing.

Currently a chef, Kirsenlohr graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point with a degree in Fine Art.  As a child, visual learning was Kirsenlohr’s way of understanding how the world worked.  She learned how to do something by viewing pictures and drawings.  This learning method in time became a way of communicating ideas, which inspired her to go into children's book illustration.  Her books are inspired by life experiences and from family and friends.   She hopes that these stories will influence the young reader and spark their imagination just like the stories that influenced her as a child.

Shell-less Shelby is available for purchase at www.amazon.com, www.bn.com and www.authorhouse.com.

For more information on Jessica Kirsenlohr, please visit www.jessicakirsenlohr.com.

In full disclosure:I was not compensated for this book feature. I received a copy of Shell-less Shelby in exchange for featuring the book on my blog.
