"Remember,
different eyes see
different things.
The beauty of life
is to see what
you can see."
The story is about Anoo and her cat, Pashmack. Pashmack is Anoo's best friend, who also teaches her about LIFE.The Adventures of Anoo and Pashmack begin when Anoo tells the reader that there are MANY ways to see life. She then encourages the reader to join her as she shows how life can be seen in many different ways. Readers follow the title characters to the beach, where they discover new ways to experience the world around them.
From the Publisher:"For centuries, children around the world have been taught about five senses; see the light of the sun, hear the wind blow, taste the salt of the sea, smell the fresh-cut grass, touch the dog's shaggy fur. Author Salmeh Moghimi offers an alternative view:what if we also learn about the world with our feelings?"
Even boredom can be overcome with just a twist and a turn and keeping your eyes WIDE OPEN. Teaching children that if you are "open" and accepting, you will be "open" to possibilities all around you!
Just by changing positions the world can be seen in different ways!
I loved the page that says:
Now lie on your belly, face down. I'll bet you can't see the water. What if you put your head in the sand? What do you think you'll see? I haven't tried that one yet!
But I don't think you'll see too much.
The author hopes children will learn to use their intuition, or "heart sense," as well as their other senses. She believes animals should be a part of people's early experiences as they can help validate children's feelings and other senses.
The illustrations by Golnar Sepahi are whimsical and engaging, Pashmack the cat is visible on every page. Parents and teachers can have the child "find Pashmack" on the page (because on some pages Pashmack is smaller than on others)
From the author: My book teaches children to value and have respect for their own feelings as well as for life. In memory of my beloved cat, Pashmack, who taught me how intelligent animals are, how much they understand the power of love, and how willing they are to teach us.
So let's listen.
