The Pussums Cat Company Celebrates 40th Anniversary with World’s Largest Catnip Kicker Toy

Maine-based cat products company, The Pussums Cat Company, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in “fur-tastic” fashion by creating the unofficial world’s largest catnip kicker.

The paw-dropping catnip toy stands at an impressive 72 inches tall with a 50-inch circumference and holds 35 pounds of “Dr. Pussums Fancy Feline Elixir Pure Catnip” inside. The brand’s standard catnip kickers (small pillow-like toys perfect for kitties to kick) range from two inches up to eleven inches making the special anniversary celebratory kicker 550 percent larger, the biggest one ever produced by the brand.

The world’s largest catnip kicker has already been cat-tested, feline-approved by the in-house hospice foster cats that call The Pussums Cat Company retail location in Turner, Maine home, as well as by furry friends at nearby PALS No-Kill Cat Shelter in Winthrop, Maine.

“We were trying to think of fun ways to celebrate our forty years of bringing top quality catnip toys to cat lovers and thought there was no better way than to go big or go home...literally,” said Susan Shaw, owner of The Pussums Cat Company.

The Pussums Cat Company will be bringing the oversized catnip kicker to events around New England where fans can take photos with the kicker and bring home free Dr. Pussums samples, while supplies last. Visit bit.ly/PussumsCatCoTour to find a list of events where the catnip kicker will be on display and check back often as the list is being updated as events are added.

When not on the road you will find the world’s largest catnip kicker on display at the brand’s retail location located at 293 Auburn Road in Turner, Maine. The store is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Roary was a lucky recipient of three of their toys!!!! I was beyond impressed with the quality, and the pungent smell of catnip that was evident the second I opened the package!

The Pussums Cat Company is a small family-owned Maine business that provides superior quality catnip and catnip toys, cat teasers and toys, and cat lover gifts. To celebrate the 40th anniversary the brand is offering monthly 40% off promotions on select items announced via e-newsletter to subscribers and social media followers. The brand is also offering an exclusive offer of 10% off items sitewide (with the exception of subscriptions and gift cards) by using code 207PURR.

Uah Pet ZERO Automatic Cat Water Fountain Review (And 15% Off Coupon Code!!)

Keeping hydrated as we all know is important for humans. It's equally important for our cats to stay hydrated as well! A cat that isn't properly hydrated can form kidney (and other) stones and be prone to urinary tract problems. Your cat gets water from two sources, just like us: their food, and their drinking water. Water is critically important in a cat's body as it helps them digest food into energy, clean waste from their system, and other important metabolic functions. Cats are known for being picky about water, so keeping your cat hydrated is especially important"

For as long as I have had cats (well over 20 years now), I have been searching for what is to ME the perfect pet water fountain. I have reviewed MANY.  Aesthetically most of them have been attractive, some downright beautiful, but ALL had electrical cords, were difficult to set up and maintain, and ALL never prevented either of my cats who lived (live) with a dog from either drinking out of the dog's bowl. Or as is the case with Roary, drinking out of the dog's bowl AND the running water from a leaky bathtub faucet.

Roary has a natural love for water. He loves watching water drip and is drawn to it. When I was recently approached by Uah Pet to see if I wanted to try their pet fountain, when I visited their website I felt as if I might have FINALLY found the PERFECT pet fountain for me AND for Roary.

My main criteria in my quest for the perfect pet fountain was:

It had to be cordless

Had to be easy to assemble

Didn't require tons of upkeep

The Uah Pet ZERO Automatic Cat Water Fountain is an automatic pet water fountain that is wireless, whisper-quiet, and requires easy, manageable, minimal maintenance!

WHAT I LOVE:

NO CORDS! (Which translates to there is no safety hazard by either my tripping over the cord or Roary attempting to chew an electrical cord. It's SAFE!

YOU CAN PLACE IT ANYWHERE!!

Put it any place that your cat likes to drink. I originally had mine in the kitchen

Then I remembered reading something about never placing a cat's water bowl in close proximity to their food. When I remembered that, I Googled it and found this:

IT'S STABLE AND TIP-PROOF!

IT HAS AN EXTRA LARGE TWO LITER (676 oz) storage tank which if you have one or two cats you should only have to change the water approximately once a week (or slightly longer)

IT HAS A LONG-LASTING (120 DAYS) RECHARGEABLE WITH USB BATTERY that makes it safe for the planet!

SIX LEVEL FILTRATION SYSTEM

"This fountain contains KDF, quartz sand, coconut activated charcoal and ion exchange resin, so it’s perfect for cats and dogs that love to drink fresh-tasting water."

IT'S QUIET!

If you keep your fountain in the bedroom, it will not disturb you when it is running. It also won't frighten your cat!

IT IS MADE WITH ANTIBACTERIAL MATERIAL to ensure your cat has safer drinking water.

EASY ASSEMBLY/EASY TO CLEAN-you simply rinse it out. The filter is super easy to place inside and you are ready to go.

IT HAS TWO WATER FLOW MODES that are super easy to use! There is a motion activated mode which runs when your pet comes within 2 meters distance of a 120-degree area. (That is the mode that I am using most often). There is also a timer mode which provides your pet with cool, fresh water automatically every 15 minutes.

IT IS FULLY LEAK-PROOF!

WIDE WATER TRAY which translates to "Whisker-Relief!"

MY ONLY "CON"

It does come with an instruction manual but it isn't clear how to assemble it by reading the tiny pamphlet. I had found a video on Amazon that showed me exactly how to put it together (as well as how to take it apart for cleaning). CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO.  (it is the video that is over a minute long, I believe it's 1:47) Would love it if Uah Pet would post this video on their website!! That is my only complaint. I had to search high and low for a video showing how to put the fountain together.

A HUGE PLUS, IT'S LOW MAINTENANCE!

(BECAUSE THESE QUESTIONS HAVE COME UP A FEW TIMES I DECIDED TO ADD THIS TO THE POST JULY 26, 2022: DIRECTLY FROM THE UAH PET WEBSITE)

How often should I replace the filter?

How often should I change the water?

"We recommend replacing the filter and filter sponge every 3-4 weeks depending on use. Replacement filters are available on our website in convenient packs of six."
"For optimal usage, we recommend replacing the water every 4-7 days, though the fountain is designed to be safely used for up to 10 days at a time."

AM I HAPPY WITH THE FOUNTAIN? A RESOUNDING "YESSSSS!!"

IS ROARY HAPPY WITH THE FOUNTAIN? ANOTHER RESOUNDING "YESSSSS!!"

I have not seen Roary drinking out of Levi's bowl OR the bathtub since the arrival of the fountain!! I wanted to shoot video of Roary drinking from the fountain but haven't had the chance to do so.That being said, this fountain is a KEEPER! I could not be happier with it!

OUR KIND FRIEND AT UAH PET HAS GENEROUSLY PROVIDED OUR READERS WITH A 15% OFF COUPON CODE (WHICH DOES NOT EXPIRE FOR ONE YEAR) AND LINK TO PURCHASE

15% Discount Code:  CATCHAT15 (good for one year!)

In full disclosure: I received no monetary compensation for this post. I received a Uah Pet ZERO Automatic Cat Water Fountain in exchange for my always honest review. I am also not a member of the Amazon Affiliate program, so when you make a purchase I will receive no monetary compensation.

Our Sweet Dakota Left Us Two Years Ago Today

My first ever Sheltie, Dakota, my sweet boy passed on July 9, 2020 (9 days after Cody), after having been diagnosed with Hemagiosarcoma (a tumor on his heart) a mere month before. He was 13 (as was Cody).

It is an awful disease that has taken many beloved dogs of friends and family members. We were blessed to have Dakota with us for a month after he was diagnosed, many I know weren't that lucky.

To think I thought Dakota was crazy when he was young! Little did I know what would be in store for me with Levi.

Dakota was sweet, stoic at the Vet, he HATED other dogs, was devoted to his "pack" at home, but wasn't much of a fan of humans that he didn't know. He never would have enjoyed going to daycare or boarding like Levi does.

He was a great brother to Cody. They truly loved each other.

He hated taking walks, wasn't thrilled with the car (he would sit on the floor). Didn't like to sleep in his bed, he preferred sleeping on the floor. If I stirred eggs he would bark. If I used spray butter he would bark. He was the quirkiest dog ever!

He LOVED his precious Greenies, popcorn, red peppers (not hot ones!), apples, carrots and the doggy meatloaf/meatballs/hamburgers I would make for him.

He also ADORED HIS DADDY!

Dakota was extremely bonded with Lenny when he was young, as time went on, he and I became extremely close. He had a sixth sense of knowing just when I needed extra loving.

He was the first dog I had as an adult and was the fulfillment of a childhood dream of having a Sheltie. He was special in so many ways.

He was the polar opposite of Levi!!! He wasn't confident and actually LOOKED and paid attention to where he was walking not ramming into people and walls BOL!

He loved running and playing fetch when he was young.

He adored his red, white and blue Dollar store ball that we have safely tucked away in a trunk. That dog had sooo many toys and that disgusting worn out plush ball was his absolute favorite.

He was sooo much smaller than Levi! At Dakota's largest he was 28 lbs, most of his life he was 25 pounds (Levi is 36 lbs and about 3 inches taller.)

The 13 years he was with us went by in the blink of an eye. I am grateful for the many collages I have on the living room wall of both Cody and Dakota, this way I can still see them both every day.

Dakota you were such a good and special boy. Daddy and I think of you, love you and miss you every single day.

About a minute after Dakota left us, I noticed a yellow butterfly that flew right into our patio doors, I am certain that was our sweet Dakota letting us know he would always be there.

Sweet Dakota, please know that NO OTHER dog could EVER replace you. You ALWAYS are in our hearts and on our minds. Levi didn't replace you, as "Dr.Smiley" said when I felt guilty when I had adopted Cody two weeks after my Bobo passed, "You aren't replacing him, you are making NEW memories with another pet. He would want you to give the same love to another pet that you gave to him."

Thank you, Dakota, for sharing your life and love with Daddy, Cody and I. You were the PERFECT first Sheltie.

Much Love Always,

Mom
