Royal Canin® Introduces National You Share, We Give Campaign to Support Introduction of New SPAYED/NEUTERED™ Feline Formulas

Hi my furiends! It's Cody!

 Today I am here to share some catabulous news from Royal Canin!

 As many of you know, I am on a restricted diet, due to allergies, and I am only permitted to eat Royal Canin Veterinary Rabbit formula, but I digress, here is the news from Royal Canin!

 Spaying and neutering can be a hot issue for many pet owners. And with 88 percent of US pet cats being spayed or neutered, owners seem to understand its benefits – longer lifespan, better disposition, prevention of unwanted litters and more. What most don’t realize is that the procedure also causes metabolic and hormonal changes that lead to a decrease in energy and an increase in appetite, putting cats at a 3.4 times higher risk for obesity.

For the first time in the U.S., there’s  a nutritional solution for spayed and neutered cats that helps keep appetite and weight in check. Royal Canin, a science-based pet food company, has created the new SPAYED/NEUTERED line of foods, which includes formulas with controlled fat levels, appetite control and added antioxidants for aging support.

As part of the introduction, Royal Canin is partnering with certified pet behaviorist and author Steve Dale and the American Humane Association to educate owners on the lesser-known effects of spaying and neutering, and also help fund feline research in the future. Fans on www.Facebook.com/RoyalCanin.US will be able to share the  infographic above in exchange for a free sample of SPAYED/NEUTERED food and a donation to American Humane.

So kitties! What are you waiting for? Go over to www.Facebook.com/RoyalCanin.US

Rabbit-flavored kisses,
Cody

I was not compensated for this post. I love (and eat) Royal Canin and wanted to help spread the word after my friends at Royal Canin  contacted me asking if I would share this information with you!

  1. OK, so this is another US only thingy? ***SCREAMS*****

    Anyway, since my brush with death last April, everyone has to be on my diet, mainly RC UT formula. If this new one reaches our shores, and if it's low ash, low salt, we might consider giving it a try.

    har har har *evil laughs*

  5. Mommy saw the Spay/Neuter food when she was at PetSmart. Spaying and Neutering didn't seem to affect Socks or Arty's weight they are still skinny things. But Mommy certainly noticed that I wasn't as playful as before and I did pack on the pounds. We are hoping my diet catfood can get it off I have certainly been more active. But we certainly think having a catfood for spayed/neutered cats is a good idea. ~Scylla

    PS: Does they have a spay/neuter dog food. Mommy didn't notice?

  6. That is a great idea. Animals do put on weight when they are spayed and neutered but it sure is better than producing hundreds of kittens or puppies. Thanks for this great review.

  9. Maybe this means I won't have to join the gym!
    I've already got a sample on the way!

    ...sure hope it tastes as good as...oh, who am I kidding? It can't possibly be as good as salmon. But then again, Glogirly can't live on chocolate alone either.

  10. Hi Caren and Cody! I'm wondering if Cody would do better on wet food.

    Our Domino has been throwing up dry food of all types all her life. She finally started to get very thin and was throwing up only bile.

    The vet said she could be allergic to the food -- but as I said we tried all types of dry.

    Domino never would eat wet food, though we put it out and some is always available.

    Finally, I did a little forcefeeding (gently of course) and she started to like the taste. Before I knew it, she was licking the food out of the spoon, and then eating it out of a dish on her own.

    Ever since she started a wet food only diet, she hasn't thrown! I can't believe this was the answer all along.

    Have you tried Cody on wet food, or is he allergic to that, too?

  12. I'm waiting to find out what the ingredient list is. I haven't been able to find it the few times I went out looking. I am not a fan of feeding foods to my cats that are high in plant based ingredients. Besides the fact that cats are obligate carnivores, one of my cats in particular tends to get urinary crystals if he doesn't stick to a mostly meat based diet.

  13. @CCL Wendy thanks for your input! Cody eats WET and DRY food :) He eats Royal Canin Veterinary formula wet canned rabbit and the dry rabbit and green pea formula. From what we can determine he is allergic to grain, corn, ALL MEATS...(you have to be careful on treats that say fish etc because many contain chicken broth which he cannot have), dairy...you name it, he's allergic to it :(

  14. @Connie good point!

    @Nellie RC has a Canadian locale so I bet it would be available there.

    @Glogirly lol...but....I can't eat chocolate (this is Mom) it is AWFUL for my kidney stones :(

    @Cof so true!

    @Brian absolutely!

  16. If I hadn't just started my new fuds, the Science Diet Sensitive Skin formula I would go sign up for the RC fuds. I love RC but I was horribly allergic to something so we are trying this new fud now plus I had a low dose allergy shot.

  18. Since I only got tutored two weeks ago, we have to wait and see what's gonna happen. I've always been a skinny little boy (I only weigh 8.7 lbs.) We'll have to see if the tutoring makes me get chubbed up!

  19. That is interesting. Our mom put us on a diet by feeding us all meat with no fillers & we have lost weight. Well, 3 of us did . . .

  24. This is a new brand to me. At some of our spay/neuter clinic I have had folks ask about the weight gain. While the very young cats don't seem to be affected as much (my cat's were done at 3 months and almost two years later are full of energy and have not gained weight) older cats are more likely to gain. I'll take a closer look at this product. Thanks for the info.
