Happy 15th Birthday in Heaven Precious Cody

I see this face and the hurt begins all over again. My precious Cody today would have been your 15th birthday, two years ago I never would have ever imagined that you wouldn't be with us today. One day you were here, and like a blink of an eye you were gone. It's all a blur. A heartbreaking blur.

I miss you EVERY SINGLE DAY. I miss you sitting next to me on the armrest of the couch. I miss looking into your sea green eyes, I miss your quirky little mouth. I miss your cuddle bug ways. I miss yelling at you for trying to chew everything you could get your paws on. I miss sharing chicken with you. I miss your calm and easy-going nature.

From the day I adopted you in 2007 we shared an incredible bond. You crawled up my chest that day and you would NOT let go. The tears come all over again when I think about the day you left us. I beat myself up mentally constantly for feeling as if I let you down. That I didn't protect you enough, when I had promised you I would. Even now, nearly two years after you passed, I STILL cannot type without tears welling in my eyes.

I love you and miss you my "Codester", my "Jelly Belly", my "Codalicious", my "Cody Boy", my "Cuddlebug". I pray with all of my heart that you knew how deeply you were loved. I hope Angel Dakota is helping you celebrate your heavenly birthday my precious boy. My life will never, ever be the same without you here. I miss you more than you could ever imagine Cody.

National Stick Out Your Tongue Day

Hi all! Cody here! Today is National Stick Out Your Tongue Day  (Seriously, who comes up with these "holidays?")   and when I was reading about this holiday I learned that contrary to what it means in the U.S., in Tibet sticking out one's tongue is a form of greeting!!  Consider yourselves "greeted!!"

This day is also a day where you can stick out your tongue at things that are bothering you and what is bothering me is the 90 degree temps we have been having. I am lucky to be an indoor cat with air conditioning, but the 90 degree temps mean that every day when my sunbeams begin to pour through the window, Mom pulls the shades all the way down so it is like we live in a cave! Mom says it's smart to do because it keeps the room cooler and hopefully doesn't make the air conditioner have to work too hard. All I know is I want it to cool down so I can lay in my sun puddles!

What are YOU sticking YOUR tongue out at today?
Leave me a comment and let me know!

Love, Cody

It's a Love Connection on Valentine's Day!

Hi every furry!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

It's Cody and I am extra light on my paws today!! Yesterday I found out the most PAWESOME NEWS!!! WAIT TIL YOU HEAR!

First, allow me to set the scene. A little over a year ago I wrote a blog that stated that I was tired of being alone. That is no way for a handsome mancat like myself to exist. So, I put out a request for a ladycat to while away the hours with me, or even one for a quick prance around town.

The responses were OVERWHELMING!!!!! I was approached by a chickin' lovin' ORANGE MANCAT,  (sorry pal, you aren't my type), I even had a response from a WOOFIE!!! (That woofie needs counseling, and FAST, but I digress...)

What was a mancat to do?
Well, not wanting to hurt any kitty's feelings, I picked ALL of the special ladycats who were kind enough to respond. (Sadly, the beautiful Harley unexpectedly went to the Rainbow Bridge last year, and it broke my heart).

There were a couple of  kitties however, that stood out from the rest. One, was the adorable Lucy pictured above. The problem was, she was (and is), still considered to be in kittenhood and her overprotective Jewish father was afraid that I would corrupt her. Moi? NEVER!!

Then, late in 2014 Truffles , (also in the photo above),  and I started purring to each other, around the time that she was my Secret Paws pal. But Truffles lives soo far away!!

There was one response however that I just couldn't shake off of my tail. It was from the exquisite (and oh-so mischievous) Crepes from Cat In The Fridge (even her blog name piqued my interest! Any cat who ties in a "Fridge" and "Food" already earns bonus points with me!). Here is the comment that she left.

I've been waiting for this moment...- Crepes.

The game of cat and mouse began!!
Throughout the year, when I would least expect it, she would leave me the most "lascivious messages" (by her own admission!) on my blog.  We all know that sometimes certain mancats aren't that quick on the uptake and I would just let them slide. Until...I saw this week that Crepes was seeking a date for Valentine's Day!!
Photo Courtesy of Cat In The Fridge
Being the master of translating the meaning of non-verbal cat poses that I am, I knew that I had to take a chance and pounce on this incredible oppurrtunity!. So, I put together some photos (well, Mom helped me with them but I did all of the writing), and set out to impress that saucy little wench!!

Then, I received the surprise of my LIFE!!!! Crepes chose ME to be her MAIN DATE!!! Why am I saying "main date?" Well, it appears that she has two other mancats who are hot on her tail, (Boomer and Tuna from Da Tabbies O Trout Towne.   But I guess they chose to be mystery dates cause they never sent in photos!! MOL!!!)  Being the polite ladycat that Crepes is, she is going to be entertaining THEM during the day, but is SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST!!! WHO?? ME!!

That's fine, let her have her fun, I have her in the night, (and we all know the "night time is the RIGHT TIME!!"),  where we can do some hot prowling around, and you know what they say about the number THREE?  "The THIRD one is the CHARM!!"

This is my HAPPIEST Valentine's Day EVER!!!

Love, Cody

For those of you kitties living under a rock, blanket, basket, box, you get the picture, Secret Paws is a super fun gift exchange event that was created (and organized!) by "Mom Paula" of the adorable blog, Sweet Purrfections.

  2. Email address

  3. Name of Cat Blog

  4. Link to Blog

  5. Complete Mailing address

MOM AND I WERE EXTREMELY TOUCHED
BY THE GENEROSITY OF MY SECRET PAWS!
GUESS WHO THEY ARE?

THE MEEZERS!
Mom and I
were super embarrassed at first
because we didn't know who
they were
but Mom Paula
sent us the link to their blog

Mom and I were blown away
by their thoughtfulness
and generosity

a CATABULOUS Christmas!

If you are on the fence about pawticipating in Secret Paws you should really give it a go!
I think the nicest part for Mom and I was finding new furiends to follow! Ok, ok, that is one reason, the other being that  I LOVE my super cool prezzies too!!!!

THANK YOU AGAIN MY NEW FURIENDS!!! You made one gray tabby cat and his Mom extra happy!

Cat Chat With Caren and Cody:You know our name, now you can FIND us!!

Hi all! Mom and I took the day off yesterday to work on some impawtant things, so we are a little behind in our blog posts, but we WILL catch up!

Today we have some impawtant news!

Mom and I first started Cat Chat in 2009 after our local newspaper, The Oakland Press, offered to sponsor our link. We will be furever grateful for the oppawtunity, because without them, we wouldn't have met and become furiends with,  ALL OF YOU!!

Notice I said, "Cat Chat?" Well, when we picked that name in 2009 it wasn't taken, (or so we thought), but then we noticed that Martha Stewart was using Cat Chat on her website and that was NOT a "good thing." Mom and I added "With Caren and Cody" to Cat Chat, and that has been our name for quite some time.

The problem that kept nagging at us was our blog link. It was goofy! Since our blog is listed on the Oakland Press website our address was http://opcatchat.blogspot.com Who in the world could find us with "op" as the beginning of our blog address? For the past 3 years we thought we couldn't change that, but we recently found out that we COULD! So now.....we are proud to announce:

No worries if you still use the old address, you will continue to be re-directed to the NEW address which is www.catchatwithcarenandcody.com

We are still a part of the Oakland Press blog roll (when we began, there were about 20 or so blogs, there are now approximately 100), and we are proud to be there! But now, we OWN our link! We are also proud that with our FOURTH BLOG-O-VERSARY rapidly approaching, (at the end of October), we HAVE THE HIGHEST PAGE VIEWS on the Oakland Press website (among blogs that are written by  NON-EMPLOYEES of the newspaper!!) Last month for the first time we passed 22,000 page views just for one month! For you "big boys" out there, that's chump change, to us, that's a BIG DEAL! Considering we started off with just 2 readers for the LONGEST time, we are beaming with pride!

Along with our blog-o-versary sneaking up on us, our 1000th post should happen before the end of the year, (depending on whether or not Mom slacks off which in turn, makes ME slack off).

We have some fun things that are on the horizon, and it is our fondest hope that you will come along with us! Each and every one of you that makes time for us in your busy schedule means the world to Mom and I!!

If there are things that you would like to see more of (or less of), feel free to let us know in the comments....this is YOUR blog too!

Much Love,
Cody and Caren

A Special Thank you!!

Hi every furry it's Cody!

While reading my email last Sunday, I found a LOVELY thank you photo from my dear furiend, Nellie!

Be sure to visit
Nellie on her blog!!!

If you visited my blog last Friday you know that my furiend Nellie came by to visit! If you missed that post you can read about it here.

It was super kind of Nellie to make me that photo and I love it!

While I am feeling sentimental I just want to THANK ALL OF YOU for being such good blogging furiends! It hasn't been the best of summers for my Mom for a variety of reasons, and you ALL bring both Mom and I more smiles on days that we need it, MORE THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE!

So....THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU for being here! Without YOU, there wouldn't be US!!

Love, Cody and Caren

HAPPY CATURDAY ALL!

A little while ago I was having a chat with my furiend Sammy from the delightful blog, One Spoiled Cat, and he told me about a lovely woman who makes wonderful music videos! Her name is Cat Forsley and she is super talented!

Well Sammy told me she was making a video of blogging buddies and he told me to send my photo in right away and see if I could be included. Guess what? I was!!! This video is too cool! Check it out because there are many other blogging buddies in it too!

Thanks Sammy for sniffing out this one!!

Oh and be sure to follow Cat Forsley's blog for MORE music videos and of course, visit my bacon-eating-buddy Sammy who is one of the kindest and most FUN cats in the Blog-o-sphere!

It's National Hug Your Cat Day!

I know, I know if you have a cat you do this EVERY DAY,  but today actually is:

To send THIS greeting
to your cat loving furiends

In honor of this special day, I am posting some of my favorite "hug" photos, beginning with my Angel Bobo and of course my cuddle-bug Cody!

Now go and HUG your cat and if you don't have one, consider adopting a cat  (June is ADOPT A  CAT MONTH) or volunteering at a shelter today to give some HUGS to some cats who are in dire need of some lovin'!

Cats And Hugs
It's a proven fact that hugs from animals and giving hugs to animals will lower a persons blood pressure. Pets have the ability to stimulate their caregivers by decreased stress. There appears to be strong evidence that having a pet can help a person lead a longer, healthier life.
