Gone too soon...

I love blogging, I truly do, but there are times like this one where it becomes an activity that I hate. There are too many dogs and cats crossing the Rainbow Bridge lately and the void we feel without them is simply devastating.

Bloggers spend much of their time flitting from blog to blog, laughing, learning, ooohing and ahhhing over photos and enjoying reading about adventures shared.  When asked, most of us couldn't tell you the names of the bloggers behind the blogs, but ask us the names of their pets? Now THOSE NAMES we know!

The pets that we read about touch us in ways that we aren't even cognizant of at the time, it is only when they are no longer with us that we begin to truly understand how much they meant to us.

We stole this from
Two French Bulldogs
Benny's Mom, human, whatever you want to call her, had a way with oh-so-few words and through some fabulous photos, of sharing the feisty personalities of her beloved "Frenchies." Through her dry wit and keen insight and understanding of her babies (Benny and Lily), she made us feel as if they were ours.
When they hurt, we hurt. Oh are we hurting.
Benny fought a brave fight with cancer, but he could only fight so much.

"Benny"
Please leave your condolences here
We guess God really needed an Angel.
Benny, Lily and "Mom" we love you, we hurt with you, and we DEEPLY THANK YOU for the joy you brought (and hopefully will still bring through sweet Lily) each and every time we visited your blog.

Thank you for ALWAYS coming to visit us, even if we write about cats,  and for your appreciation of cats. There are few doggies out there like that. On all of our give-aways you always mentioned how your kitty friends would like whatever it was that was being given away.  We love you Benny, and your Mom and sweet Lily.

Benny, you were one insanely special little guy,
We will NEVER forget you and will ALWAYS miss you,
With much love and our deepest sympathy,
Dakota, Cody and Caren

    2. I completely understand the pain of losing a pet. (I miss my Tadpole, more THAN anything!!! :-(

I am sorry 'bout Benny. I never knew him. But I feel very sad for his mom!

Sometimes... I wonder WHY these horrible things happen..... What's ever worse is when people say "Oh... But it was ONLY a dog!" Or cat or whatever!

Some people have NO heart for other people! It's just to sad:-(

      (((((HUGS)))) for Benny's mom.

  3. By the edge of a wood, at the foot of a hill, is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, when their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next, is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they lay, till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care, until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, then all of a sudden one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again both person an pet. So they rush to each other, these friends from long past, the time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart, has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, and then side-by-side, they cross over together…

  4. What a perfectly beautiful and fitting tribute to our Frenchie friend. We feel the same about Benny and Lily too...they always made us smile and snicker. They put up with our dog jabs and made their love of us kitties known. Our hearts are hurting and we just can't stop thinking about Benny, Lily and their mom. We wish we could wrap up all the smiles they've given us with a pretty bow in hopes that they can smile again.

  5. What a special post and tribute for sweet Benny. It is so true what you say that other people's special pets truly do touch us and can mean so much to us and we can be deeply affected by their passing.

    Be Well Sweet Benny

  8. That is really unfortunate. Pets and humans all love each other. May Benny enjoy a great afterlife.

  10. What a lovely tribute, Caren. I'm sure many, many tears have been shed for little Benny. It's amazing how attached we can get to animals we never physically meet. But they can become a part of our everyday routines, and they bring to joy to us. If we are so sad, we know how much worse his Mom and Lily must be feeling. I'm sure everyone's kind words are a comfort to them at this awful time, and that's the best thing we can do.

  13. You're right, most of the time blogging is fun. But sometimes serious or heart-wrenching stories need to be shared. What's great about the anipal community is that there are always friends to support everyone through their difficult times.

  19. We agree, one of the hardest things about blogging is losing the furiends that we've made. We're sad about Benny. We send purrs to his family.

  20. Caren you are right about how hard it is sometimes when we see a friend leave for the Bridge. It takes a piece of ourselves with them. I know for myself, I could picture myself in each Mom's shoes and as time with Abby was growing shorter I worried a lot about that. I didn't realize at the time how short our time was, but now, oh boy do I "get" how devastating a loss of a beloved animal is. We do grieve for each of our fellow friends at their losses. Each and every one.

  26. What a beautiful tribute to our sweet friend Benny. It breaks my heart whenever any of our dear animal blogging friends cross the bridge and there have been far too many this year. Your post expresses what so many of us feel Caren.
