Our Lions CAN DO THIS!! #NFCChampionship #OnePride

Hi everyone! It's Roary! Mom wasn't going to post today because she is afraid of jinxing the Lions, but I told her that the past two games where MY face was featured, we WON!! That was enough to get my superstitious Mom to allow ME to put up a post!

Today our Detroit Lions will be battling the San Francisco 49'ers in the NFC Championship game. The winner will go to the Super Bowl!

The Lions have NEVER been to the Super Bowl and while it will be an incredible challenge, we are confident that our LIONS CAN DO THIS!!!

There are TWO good omens too....the first is they are playing at LEVI Stadium (sound familiar?) And....the band Journey is performing at half time. One of their verses in "Don't Stop Believing" is "born and raised in south DETROIT." And....Journey will be performing here in Detroit this July......we definitely aren't going to stop believing!!

The Lions are major underdogs undercats in this game, but we think that just might make them hungrier! GOOOO LIONS!

Unless you love San Francisco, please pray for us!!!

Love, Roary

Wishing My Lions Good Luck!!! #DetroitLions #NFCWildCardGame

Thank you Ann from Zoolatry
for this amazing graphic!

Hi furiends! As many of you know, I am named after the mascot of the Detroit Lions football team! We are both named "Roary!!"

Today is an exciting day! Our Detroit Lions are in their first playoff game in 30 years and the FIRST playoff game ever at Ford Field! I am so excited I can barely stand it!

Mom is excited too but has EXTREMELY mixed emotions. Mom is a huge Matthew Stafford fan (he is the quarterback for the L.A. Rams who we are competing against). He played with Detroit first for TWELVE YEARS!!! Mom was heartbroken when he left but was thrilled when he finally got his Super Bowl ring!

So while Mom and Dad will actually be AT the game cheering for their Lions, Mom  will be smiling when she sees Matthew Stafford return to the field of his FIRST "HOME." She will also be secretly smiling because she is going to wear her old Stafford Jersey under her Lions sweatshirt and doesn't care what ANYONE says! She also refuses to boo him when he takes the field!!

Soooooo Goooooooo Lions and may the best team win!!!! The nice part? Mom will be happy however this plays out!

More Magic Please!! Go Browns! #ClevelandWantsItMore

Well, since it worked last week when the Cleveland Browns had their first playoff win since 1994, so I'm trying it again this week!!!

You can see by the expression on my face that I mean business! I'm gonna be extra tough this week because it's GOING to be extra tough on our Browns this week as they take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional playoff game.

The Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl Champions! NO ONE (including Mom) feels the Browns have any chance at all of beating the Chiefs, (wait, we heard a FEW talking heads on TV that think they COULD pull off a giant upset but it is highly doubtful),  but Miracles DO happen!

However it plays out, Mom will be happy because she is a huge fan of the Chief's quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. She thinks he is incredible, so she will be happy either way...but...she will be happiest if the Browns pull this off!!!

Here we go again!!!

Goooo Browns!!!!

Good Luck Cleveland Browns!!!! #WeWantMore

I'm putting the bitey on my Cleveland Browns ball to try and make them angry enough to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Browns first playoff appearance since 2002!!!!! (Mom has some serious doubts they will pull it off!)

Why am I barking for the Browns when I live in Michigan? Well, Mom lived in Cleveland for 35 years and the Browns were Mom's first football love, (more appropriately former Cleveland Browns quarterback Brian Sipe was Mom's first football love)

.......and........I was born in OHIO!!! Let's not forget that "Dr. Smiley" is originally from Ohio too! (He lived down the street from Mom when he was a little boy!! They didn't find that out until Mom and Dad first met him when they stumbled into him at an emergency Vet when Angel Bobo had six kidney stones. Dr.Smiley recognized Mom's maiden name! Then, they found out he worked at the current Veterinary practice that they go to and they immediately started seeing "Dr.Smiley")

So, today we are putting our paws together for the Browns!!!

Mom said that photo is from the 80s before one of the Browns MANY heartbreaking playoff losses.....(Mom said what she wouldn't give to have that tiny tush again...but I digress!!)

Here's to hoping that the Browns don't have a National TV embarrassment (which if you are from Cleveland, you TOTALLY understand!!)

Gooooo Browns!

Detroit Lions:Crazy Cat Woman Makes Season Debut at Ford Field

Does this woman look familiar?

This woman is CRAZED!
RUN  LIKE THE WIND!!!

Today is the Detroit Lions home opener and of course Mom and Dad will be there. Now, rumor has it, she will NOT be wearing this because the Lions are already 0-2 and since Mom is a fair-weather fan, she has a MAJOR attitude (so what else is new?) about today's game. She isn't sure if she will be dressed as a miserable, "understated" Lions fan like this:

Or if she and Dad will be PROUD like THIS!!

Well, while Mom is off being whatever kind of a maniac she has dreamed up for this year, I will be doing this!!!

The Comeback Cats Got It Done!!! (Detroit Lions In London)

Wow!! What a game!!! My feline furiends, The Detroit Lions were in London yesterday playing the Atlanta Falcons, they were down 21-0 at halftime, and came ROARING back to beat the Falcons in the FINAL FOUR SECONDS to win 22-21 !!!

There was a lot of cursing, sighing, Mom covering her eyes,  all kinds of screaming and shouting throughout the game from Mom and Dad, but they DID it!!!

Safe Travels Home Boys!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you need me, I am EXHAUSTED from having teleported to London to make sure they got the job done, and will be spending my Monday SNOOZING in my "Royal" bed!

Monday Morning Quarterback:Bridget the cat intercepts Matthew Stafford passes

Saw this on the news the other day and loved it! Bridget the cat is trying to intercept the passes of the quarterback of the Detroit Lions, Matthew Stafford....(this game was played a couple of weeks ago when the Lions made an epic comeback against the Dallas Cowboys betting them 31-30 with just seconds left in the game!)

I think it is hilarious! If Cody tried that with our TV my husband would lose his mind!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DETROIT LIONS on sitting happily in first place, all alone in the NFC NORTH....let's hope it stays that way!

Clairvoyant cat: "Mr. Nuts" Picks San Francisco to Lose Super Bowl XLVII:Guest Blog by Five Pet Place

BREAKING NEWS!!

"The first Super Bowl pick was supposed to determine a winner -- but while scooping his box I got to thinking 'you know there's a pretty obvious message here' and wound up going in the opposite direction," said Ostrofsky.

MISSION SAN JOSE, CA  31 January 2013  Five Pet Place, a producer of designer cat furniture, today announces Mr. Nuts, a cat with a track record of accurately predicting the outcome of future events, has projected the San Francisco 49ers to lose Super Bowl XLVII.  He made his choice by selecting between two identically prepared litter boxes.

"Mr Nuts"

A Furry Jimmy the Greek

A large black and white tuxedo cat, Mr. Nuts made his first Super Bowl prediction two years ago by correctly picking the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose to the Green Bay Packers by choosing a cat box designated to represent that particular team.  He followed it up last year by correctly picking the favored New England Patriots to lose to the New York Giants and Mitt Romney's loss to Barack Obama in the presidential election.  A prediction for the gender of Prince William and Kate's baby is pending.

You Can't Handle the Truth

"The thing about Mr. Nuts is he doesn't let anything influence him," said Five Pet Place founder Michael Ostrofsky. "He picked the Steelers to lose while living in a house full of Steelers fans.  He picked the Patriots to lose even though the odds makers favored them to win.  He waited to pick Romney until there was a cocktail party with numerous Republicans over.  Now he's going against the grain by not only picking the favored 49ers to lose -- he's doing it despite living in the middle of the San Francisco Bay Area.  Want a pat on the back?  Call a friend.  Want the truth?  Ask Mr. Nuts because he'll tell it like it is whether you can handle it or not."

Why He Picks Losers Instead of Winners

Football and election experts usually focus on choosing winners.  Not when it comes to Mr. Nuts.  "The first Super Bowl pick was supposed to determine a winner -- but while scooping his box I got to thinking 'you know there's a pretty obvious message here' and wound up going in the opposite direction," said Ostrofsky.  "Now he has a Wikipedia page and gets requests for interviews from here to Canada.  People were even using Mr. Nuts hashtags on Twitter during the election."

"Mr Nuts" Picks

Details About the Selection Process

"When making picks, we try to get into the spirit of what he's trying to determine," said Ostrofsky.  "For the election, we had Romney on the right and Obama on the left for obvious reasons.  For this pick, we flipped a coin and had someone in Baltimore call the toss because the Ravens are the Super Bowl's visiting team.  She got that right -- then elected to choose the "east" box as it's closer to Baltimore.

As for the llitter boxes themselves, the Ravens' was finished in solid Pure White as that's the color of their road uniforms.  The 49ers'?  It featured our Regal Tan accent paint as it's similar to their team colors.  In a way, Roger Goodell would be impressed."

How Mr. Nuts Got Ready for "Game Day"

Just like any athlete, Mr. Nuts ate a special high protein diet and trained hard before game day.  "Since Baltimore is known for crab cakes and San Francisco for fresh crab at Fisherman's Wharf, we went and got some for his cat feeder.  Of course, he had to wash it down by drinking water out of the kitchen faucet," said Ostrofsky.  "Then we put some catnip on one of his cat scratchers to get him to work out a bit.  He got so fired up he actually fell off it.  He even attacked these miniature toy footballs with Ravens and 49ers logos we bought for him.  All I can say is when that cat was ready to go -- he was ready to go."

A Real Crapshoot

"I for one am glad not to be making that pick," said Ostrofsky.  "These teams are so evenly matched choosing a winner's a real crapshoot -- pun intended.  But when it comes to crapshoots Mr. Nuts is the best in the business.

I"ll be honest, though, I really wished he picked the Ravens.  My neighbors, the guys at the golf course, everybody at the gym -- they're all 49ers fans.  If he's wrong, I'm never going to hear the end of this."

"Are You Ready For Some Football???"

Cats in football helmets? Football on a cat blog?  "Why?" Because we feel sorry for our friends in Minnesota, that's why!

The roof at the Metrodome where the Minnesota Vikings were scheduled to play the New York Giants today at 1pm, has collapsed!!!

Being a cat with clout I was able to playwith pull some strings and the game will now be played in Detroit at Ford Field (Home of the Detroit Lions and is a nice and cozy domed cat house) this Monday, December 13th, at 7 (or 7:30pm....

Lions=felines which=cats which=cat blogs (huh?) which is what this is and I live in the Detroit area, hence the importance of this post!

We hope that a lot of our friends from Minnesota (Angie from Catladyland are you listening??) will be able to make it!

Safe travels and welcome to
The "D!!!"
