Hi and happy Friday all!!!

As many of you know if you have followed our blog for a while, I am a pretty big fan of the FroliCat line of cat toys. So much so, that two years ago for Cody's birthday I had a colossal give-away.

Cody's favorites in the FroliCat line are the FroliCat™ BOLT™, the FroliCat™ FLIK™ and the FroliCat™ POUNCE™ by PetSafe® .

When presented with the opportunity to test/review a new toy in the FroliCat line-up, the  FroliCat® FOX DEN, I was looking forward to Cody giving it a "go." 

ABOUT  FroliCat® FOX DEN

The FroliCat® Fox Den is an automated, motion-activated cat toy that will encourage your cat to play. Simply insert 3 AA batteries, (not included). Choose which mode to use (you can vary the speed), and place Fox Den on the floor (or if you are daring and want to break your own "house" rules, on a table like we did!!),where the surface is flat. 

FEATURES

There is a Fox Tail inside that "hides" and then pops out at random times to entice cats. You can choose from One Time Play mode where the toy will play for 10 minutes then turn off.
Or select Play All Day mode where the toy will play every two hours, three times, for 10 minutes each. (I have never tried this mode, if any of you have, please feel free to leave your thoughts!). In between automatic play sessions, when the toy is idle, the motion sensor on the front of the toy will detect nearby motion (up to within several feet!) and will turn on automatically. If no motion is detected, the toy will rest until the next automatic play session or motion is detected again.




PROS 

• Set up is super easy.
• Clear instructions are provided.
• Many cats WILL like this toy.

CONS

IT IS LOUD

I think that is partly why Cody didn't quite know what to make of it. As you can see in the video below, he was intrigued, but somewhat hesitant, I think it is due to the sound.


My suggestion would be that if there is sound involved. Maybe make it a sound that would ATTRACT a cat. Like a chattering type of a sound. If that isn't possible then a button where you could control the volume would be great. The sound irritated me, so I am wondering if Cody found it to be equally irritating.

ARE CATS ATTRACTED TO FOX TAILS?

I know dogs are. But cats? What are your thoughts? When I watched Cody with this toy I was thinking that a fox tail isn't something that I think that cats are inherently attracted to. Yes, they like the swishing movement, etc........but the tail is THICK. Cats tend to like things that are jerky, thinner and are something they feel they could "hunt" and carry away.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think the toy is cute, but Cody was far more attracted to the other FroliCat toys that had a mouse tail and one that had a tiny mouse. That being said, eventually, Cody did begin to warm up to it.

Then, just for fun, I decided to bring it into the living room and see what Dakota's reaction would be. My hope was that he would be attracted to it and that Cody would like it better if Dakota was trying to "catch" it. But...I forgot, he is a DOG, what does he know? Another thought, look at Dakota's tail as he walks away, I think his tail resembles that Fox tail! Maybe that is why Cody wasn't that enthused?

The FroliCat® FOX DEN IS a cute toy. I just think that compared to others in the line it isn't quite as good. Also, my opinion is just that, MY OPINION. All cats are different. Some are attracted to things that others are not. Just because Cody wasn't as enthused as I thought he would be does not mean that your cat(s) will react the same. I am also thinking that a multiple cat household would have a blast with it because they could all hover around it at once.

The concept is super cute but I think the execution could have been improved. The FroliCat® FOX DEN retails for $19.95.

The Flitter Cat Toy by PetSafe® Review and Give-Away For FUN Cats!!!

Hi my furiends!! It's Cody! Mom has been rather distracted lately, and it has been affecting my blogging, but finally, I said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!  I want and need to communicate with my furiends, I have something super special  to show them! So, I  pushed her off of her chair, grabbed the keyboard and here I am!

 As many of you know, I have been reviewing the wonderful line of PetSafe toys for a while now, and I was thrilled when I was contacted by my elf friend who asked if I would like to test and  review one of the newest toys in the PetSafe line: The PetSafe® Flitter !  I love my elf friend and I love the products made by PetSafe, so I eagerly accepted! I was super excited the day The PetSafe® Flitter  arrived!

  The PetSafe® Flitter is an automatic teaser toy that dangles fun dragonflies from two rotating arms. Assembly IS required and the 3 AA batteries that are required are NOT included, but assembling this toy could NOT  be easier! At first, when I saw the pieces on the table I had my doubts as to whether or not my simple-minded Mom could handle the assembly. In the box you will find the Flitter Base, 2 Teaser Arms and Base Legs.  "You know it's all about the base, 'bout the base....."oops wrong BASS............  I'm talkin' about "BASE!!"

I was thinking to myself,  if anyone could screw up the assembly, it would be my Mom, but to my amazement, she had it put together in no time!   I did make sure I thoroughly inspected the finished product for quality control purposes.

Once I was sure that everything was assembled correctly

 it was time to TEST and PLAY!!!

Ok, I don't advise that you play with your Flitter on the dining room table as I was doing, but someone by the name of Mom either has a few screws loose, or, she wanted me to use up one of my nine lives by plummeting off of the table, but I digress..... Regardless of where you play with YOURS you can see that this is A LOT of fun!!! It would be  great for one, or even two cats to play with at once.  The dangly dragonfly teasers are the perfect bait!!!! So much so that I attempted to EAT THEM!!!!

Hey! You know me, if something looks good I will try to eat it! This leads me to an impawtant point, the teasers are replaceable!!!!! Now, you don't want to go and eat these, but in the event some kitty is crazy enough to try and eat them, you CAN replace them! Because I showed such a great desire to ingest one, Mom is making sure that I am snoopervised when I play, and when she is not around she is going to put my Flitter safely away until the next play time.

But....if you are not like me, and are a NORMAL cat, the  "Play While You Are Away mode" allows you to play  when your humans are away!! The Flitter automatically turns off after 10-15 minutes.

Cody's FroliCat™/ PetSafe Colossal Cat Toy Birthday Give-Away!!!!

I cannot believe it!! Today my precious boy is EIGHT YEARS OLD!!! Wow!!!!! It is so hard to believe that so much time has passed. I am grateful every day for having adopted Cody a mere two weeks after my Angel Bobo crossed the Bridge at the age of eighteen.

Cody is one of the most fearless, feisty, playful, determined, cuddly, loving, stubborn, food-obsessed, friendly and oh-so-adorable kitties you could ever meet ,(but I admit that I am biased!)

Back in December when we featured the FroliCat Pounce on our blog, I knew I wanted to do a most special give-away for Cody's eighth birthday. I contacted my "magic elf" that hooked me up with most of my FroliCat toys, (and a NEW PetSafe toy that you will just die for),  and asked if a give-away were possible. My wonderful magic elf granted my wish!

My "love affair" with FrolicCat began when a friend guest blogged about the FroliCat Bolt  and I had to have it for Cody! That was the first of our FroliCat toys.

Automatic teaser throws and hides a string for your cat to attack (IMPORTANT!! Cody was chewing the string each and every time, possibly because he is obsessed with string. My only complaint with this toy is I would NOT leave Cody alone with it, as I would with all of the other toys featured in this post. I would be afraid he would chew through the string, because he is THAT determined. That being said, I do LOVE this toy and it is one of Cody's favorites.)

Owner-cat play is important, but if we are all honest, we  LOVE  toys that will keep our cat(s) occupied, often (without our having to stop everything and play), and away from the kitchen more often than not!

I find the FroliCat line to be quite sturdy, NONE of Cody's FroliCat toys are broken and unlike MANY other toys that Cody has, they are ALL played with, and played with often and enthusiastically.

In this season of caring, show your love to homeless animals by supporting the Michigan Humane Society’s (MHS) 2015 Valentine’s Telethon, presented by Purina. WXYZ-TV Channel 7 Action News anchor Alicia Smith will host the Telethon, which will air in commercial breaks throughout the day on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Funds raised by the Telethon are critical to helping MHS rescue and care for thousands of animals in great need.

From Cody: Last year my Mom worked a telethon for Michigan Humane and  so many of the kind people she met on the phone brought tears to her eyes!

“The Michigan Humane Society has numerous programs that are absolutely vital to the animals and pet owners in our community,” said CJ Bentley, Senior Director of Operations for MHS. “But without the community’s crucial support, we cannot help those who need us most. On February 12, please share the love and help us save animal lives throughout the year.”

The 19th annual MHS Telethon will feature adoptable pets and stories that show how your support can make a lifesaving difference for area animals who are homeless, abused or neglected.  As a private, nonprofit organization, MHS receives no government funding and is not affiliated with any national humane organizations, relying instead on the generosity of its supporters to save more animal lives.

(Well, the human has to turn it on, but that's it! The toy does the rest! Your human can join you in play, but they don't have to! It's great for when your human is feeling lazy as mine often does!)

Meet the FroliCat POUNCE!!!!

Now, how did I learn about the FroliCat POUNCE? Back in November, Mom attended the Novi Pet Expo and was wandering around aimlessly looking for something SUPER FUN to bring home for ME! She happened upon, stumbled into, the PetSafe booth and was IMMEDIATELY drawn to the FroliCat POUNCE! Why? Because it had a MOUSE and if there is ANYTHING that gets me MOVING, it's a MOUSE!!! "I'm all about da mouse, 'bout da mouse, no kickers, I'm all about da mouse, 'bout da mouse, no kickers..." well YOU get the idea!!! This isn't any ordinary mouse either, this mouse has a NAME!  His name is Marshal Maus™ !!  (He's a formal kinda guy!)

Now occasionally Mom comes in handy for something! Mom KNEW that she had to get this for me, and ever the cheapskate, thoughtful Mom that she is, she went home and contacted a "Magic Elf" that she knows, to see if she could not only get the FroliCat POUNCE for me to review, but she  also wanted to be able to have a give-away for YOU!

The "Magic Elf"  DEFINITELY worked some MAGIC! Within TWO DAYS I had the FroliCat POUNCE!!!  When it arrived I didn't quite know what to make of it, even Dakota was mesmerized!

What is the FroliCat POUNCE™ ?

POUNCE is an automatic, rotating, hide-and-seek cat toy. Marshal Maus™ is an electronic mouse, (that runs on batteries!!),  who zips around the circular path, zooming forward, reversing direction, hiding under obstacles, and occasionally twitching back and forth. It runs on THREE AA batteries, (not included), has FOUR DIFFERENT SPEED SETTINGS (so you can control the speed of the mouse and the "teasing" factor!)  Also, once you turn it on it STAYS ON FOR 10 MINUTES!!!!!

I am proud to say that a number of the companies who had products on display have at one time or another been featured right here, on THIS blog!

Tipsy Nip Organic Catnip Products are made in Vermont. All of their products are made from the best quality materials and ingredients. Their mission is to create healthy toys that make all of the kitties insanely happy. They succeeded with Cody, that is for sure! So much so, that as you can see above, he could smell the nip right through the plastic!

Another company that we have featured (approximately FOUR TIMES!)  is Nekochan Enterprises, the makers of another of Cody's all time favorite toys, the Neko Flies line of cat toys!!! Cody currently has his eye on their new line of Neko Nappers pet houses which are showcased above. It took every ounce of self-control that I could muster, NOT to walk away with that display! To this day, Cody's Small Kittenator   remains his "toy of choice" in the world of dangle cat toys. He knows the drawer it is stored in and will walk in, stand on his hind legs and loudly demand that it be pulled from it's slumber.
