Happy 5th Birthday to our "Roary Boy"!!

Oh my where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I saw a photo of my boy on Petfinder and submitted an application. Now, here it is, Roary's 5th birthday!!

I hate to admit this but I think that Roary is the most intelligent of all of the cats I have been blessed to live with. Roary is our "Little Professor". He doesn't kill bugs or flies, he sits and studies them, as he does with so many other things.

Roary knows where certain toys are that he can only play with when Levi isn't home (because Levi will eat them), and Roary will open drawers to get to the toys. He also is adept at opening cupboards and certain doors.

Roary is incredibly loving. He loves to sit and cuddle he also loves to push all of Levi's buttons to send him into a frenzy!!

I often feel bad for Roary because due to his having had bladder stones a couple of years ago, he is on an extremely strict diet. No treats, no human food, no nothing except his prescription food. Actually, his surgery turned out to be a Godsend. It took me a LONG time to truly bond with Roary because I was still deeply grieving Cody. When Roary had his bladder stone surgery I was with him CONSTANTLY. Roary knew this and that was when our bond was formed. We both needed each other so much !

Roary comes into bed every morning and kisses me to wake me up. He also "talks" a blue streak to me first thing in the morning.

Roary takes everything in stride. He is laid back, truly a "chill" cat, he is virtually never angry (even though he puts up with A LOT from his Sheltie brother).

Our precious boy who was named after the Detroit Lions mascot "Roary", has brought us so much joy and love and has helped us to heal more than I ever thought was possible.

Happy 5th birthday to our "Roary Boy"!!!!

We love you more than you could ever imagine!

Happy 4th Birthday Roary!!!

Roary is upset because the way I did the artwork by his face
it looks like he is wearing lipstick!!

Happy Birthday to our Little "Professor!!"

Roary is one of the sweetest cats you could ever hope to meet! He greets EVERYONE who enters our home (he is particularly fond of our next door neighbor Mary, who also has a kitty). When she comes over Roary walks up to her and meows every time!

Roary loves nothing more than having a good nap. His favorite places to nap are the cat tree and a bin that I have on a shelf in our second bedroom. Lately he enjoys napping on top of Levi's crate if I have the window open.

Unfortunately, since he is on a restricted diet due to the bladder stones he had last year, he can't have any sort of a treat or any human food. He probably is better off NOT having them!

Roary puts up with a lot from our high maintenance Sheltie, Levi, but he also is GREAT at knowing EXACTLY what to do to send Levi over the edge! (Staring at him from the other side of the baby gate is ALWAYS a good option!)

Another favorite thing of Roary's is when Levi is boarding at Canine College. Then, he will just sprawl out, relax and enjoy the silence (I have to say we often enjoy it too!)

Roary is good with our granddaughters as long as they aren't too rough with him, and if they don't chase him, but he always is happy to see them leave.

Roary wakes me up every morning without fail. He will come into bed and gently touch my face and give me a soft meow, I look forward to it every single morning!

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR "ROARY BOY!!"

You mean the world to us, even more than you know!

You bring us calm when we are on edge from Mr. Attention Hog Levi!

In honor of your birthday, Dad and I are taking Levi to the V-E-T for a nice big shot !!! You get to have some peace and quiet AND a good laugh about your brother having a shot (hopefully in the butt!)

Looking forward to cuddling with you later!

Much love,

Mom, Dad and Levi

Happy "Cone-Free" Third Birthday to our Precious and Brave Roary!!

Hi every body!!!!! It's Roary and yep I am no longer called "Little Blue Bonnet" because as of June 8th, I am CONE-FREE!!!! I am sooo happy!!! The cone was removed just in time for my 3rd birthday!

But...I do have a fish bone to pick with my Mom and Dad. Do you believe that my pawrents had the NERVE to take me to the V-E-T a mere TWO DAYS before my birthday? Who tortures their pet like that right before their birthday??

Yep you are right! That is ME, good 'ol "Little Blue Bonnet" in the above photo. I thought I found the purrfect spot to avoid "Dr.Smiley", but soon he was hip to my hiding spot.

Dr.Smiley came in, put me in my crate and escorted me to his evil laboratory in the back of the Vet dungeon where they proceeded to stab me remove my sutures and before I knew it, I was CONE-FREE!!    (He also had the AUDACITY to make Mom and Dad take the cone home, "just in case I need it again.")

When Dr.Smiley brought me back to the exam room to see Mom and Dad he was trying to cover for the evil things they did to me in the back of the dungeon by massaging my neck and being all lovey-dovey. (ok I admit the neck massage felt soooo good after wearing that awful cone for 14 days, but you know the story of "fattening sheep up for the slaughter",right?) I have my guard up and will be sure to tell Mom and Dad that being all lovey dovey is just a cover up so they will  never know the heinous things that go on in the back of his deranged laboratory!

See what I mean? You can tell by the look on Dr.Smiley's face that he is planning his next attack! Also, what's with the sisal pole in the cat exam rooms that extend from the floor to the ceiling? Do they actually think that ANY kitties are going to engage in POLE DANCING while being trapped in their sinister exam rooms? NOT THIS KITTY! AND NOT ANY KITTIES THAT ARE WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN TREATS!!

Anyway, I want to THANK YOU ALL for the kind/loving comments you left for me and my Mom and my furmily after my surgery. It meant so much to all of us!!

Hope you like the card that my Mom made just for me for my birthday!!!

FROM THE MOM: Thanks so much again to everyone for your kind words!! Keep the prayers coming though (please!). "Dr.Smiley" told us there is a 50-50 chance the stones will return which will translate to yet another surgery, that one would be to make Roary's anatomy more like a girl which would enable him to pass the stones on his own. We are choosing to look at the glass as being "half full" and are praying that the stones don't return! Roary will have follow up bloodwork in July and barring any unusual urinary symptoms he will have x-rays at some point in September. Paws crossed that nothing happens between now and then!

Daddy and I are super proud of how well Roary adjusted to his cone and his limited activity. He is truly a brave and extremely good natured kitty and we hope those nasty stones leave him alone!!!

Don't tell Roary but I have a surprise for him today! I bought him a special cat tent from Triple T Studios!!

Will try to remember to post photos once I give it to him!

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY ROARY!

Daddy, Levi and I love you more than you know!

Happy 16th Birthday in Heaven Precious Cody

I wasn't going to post for Cody's birthday this year.....but then I noticed I did for Dakota's.....soooo....I am re-posting last years post and just changed the age to 16. Maybe one day I will no longer feel the need to post for his birthday, but I still miss my boy beyond belief, so please indulge me. After all, if it weren't for Cody, this blog would never have existed and I never would have had the joy of knowing all of YOU! xoxo

I see this face and the hurt begins all over again. My precious Cody today would have been your 16th birthday, three years ago I never would have ever imagined that you wouldn't be with us today. One day you were here, and like a blink of an eye you were gone. It's all a blur. A heartbreaking blur.

I miss you EVERY SINGLE DAY. I miss you sitting next to me on the armrest of the couch. I miss looking into your sea green eyes, I miss your quirky little mouth. I miss your cuddle bug ways. I miss yelling at you for trying to chew everything you could get your paws on. I miss sharing chicken with you. I miss your calm and easy-going nature.

From the day I adopted you in 2007 we shared an incredible bond. You crawled up my chest that day and you would NOT let go. The tears come all over again when I think about the day you left us. I beat myself up mentally constantly for feeling as if I let you down. That I didn't protect you enough, when I had promised you I would. Even now, nearly three years after you passed, I STILL cannot type without tears welling in my eyes.

I love you and miss you my "Codester", my "Jelly Belly", my "Codalicious", my "Cody Boy", my "Cuddlebug". I pray with all of my heart that you knew how deeply you were loved. I hope Angel Dakota is helping you celebrate your heavenly birthday my precious boy. My life will never, ever be the same without you here. I miss you more than you could ever imagine Cody.

Happy 2nd Birthday to our Roary!!!!

It is so hard to believe that today is our little Roary's 2nd birthday!!!!!

Roary was super excited when a box from Chewy arrived (Chewy knows nothing about this post and I received NOTHING for mentioning their name), he had a feeling that there were prezzies in it for him! He was right!

Oh my look at what Roary found!!!! A brand new wand toy that came with FOUR attachments!! He couldn't wait to begin playing.

Roary is a funny little guy. He is the only kitty I have ever known that is NOT in love with catnip toys or any tiny cat toys (other than the bouncy springs they make for kitties).

Roary's favorite things to play with are wand toys and he LOVES scratchers. Scratchers of any type immediately capture his attention. So what was his other gift? You guessed it! A brand spanking new scratcher!!

I am thrilled that he loves it so much!!!

Roary is our little Marshmallow Professor. He is super independent and smart. Cuddly (but sadly, mostly with his Dad), but he saves his "chattiness" for me. I am the one he "talks" to, (he's probably cursing me out lol).

He is definitely a "Daddy's Boy", he loves me, but in his own way. That was (and still is) a major adjustment for me since both Angels Bobo and Cody were completely obsessed with me and always in close proximity. Roary just shows his love in his own way and I respect that.

We all love our Marshmallow Professor and we wish him the HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS!!!!

Happy First Birthday to our "Marshmallow Boy" Roary!!!! #ThankfulThursday

Today is a most special day!!! Today a certain kitty TURNS ONE!! That's right!! Our Roary is one year old today!!!

Roary was born on June 10, 2020. What is strange about when he was born was that Dakota was diagnosed with cancer on June 8, 2020, we found out Cody was going to need biopsy surgery on June 9, 2020 and then Roary was born June 10, 2020. (I would say that SOMEONE had a plan, didn't they?) We are most grateful for that!

Roary is a Gemini: "The Gemini cat is all about intelligence, speed, Mercurial moods and curiosity. Gemini cats are charming and kittenish well into old age but don’t expect them to be loyal lap cats. They will be affectionate if and only when it suits them"

Roary DEFINITELY keeps us on our toes. He is probably the most inquisitive, mischievous and the most daring cat of ANY who have come before him.

I call him my "Marshmallow Boy" because his white fur tinged with some gray reminds me of how a marshmallow looks after it's toasted. Roary is so cuddly and the white fur he has is so snowy white, that he always looks completely edible to me.

Timmy Tomcat and his family
sent this card to Roary
It is special to us because Timmy
was one of Cody's favorite friends
We send purrs to Timmy and his Dad
because Timmy isn't well right now
Please visit his blog and say hi!
Tomcat Commentary by Tim

I think the most fun way for us to celebrate Roary's birthday is for me to share some of my favorite photos from his first year, and of course, just like Timmy I will add commentary! (I apologize in advance that I didn't get a chance to properly edit any of these photos, nor are they in chronological order). Hope you enjoy them anyway!

Roary and Levi are establishing their relationship
Every day there are changes!

Roary is FAR MORE aggressive than Cody ever was
If Levi gets to be too much
(which is OFTEN)
Roary is totally capable of putting him in his place!

It was so much fun when Roary discovered birds this year!
He was captivated with looking out the window at them!
I love when he stands tall like a human!

Roary is a HUGE FAN of water!
He is constantly in the sink and bathtub
He has been like this since the day he joined our family
I often find toys of his in the bathtub that he carries in.
I love that Roary transports toys in his mouth to different rooms
That is something Cody never did.

A few months ago Roary met our eldest Granddaughter for the first time
The feelings of love were mutual!
My granddaughter thinks all cats are called "Mimi"
because she has a cat named "Mimi"
If she sees two cats she will say "Two Mimis!!"

Roary wants to be laundered

Trying to keep the giant Sheltie in line

Brother time on the couch

Supervising Levi sleeping

Keeping Levi in line yet again!!

Pesky younger brother!

This makes me smile
Cody and Dakota frequently sat together like this
Hoping Roary and Levi  grow up to be just as close!

Brother couch time

"No chance am I letting you out pal!!"

Roary is a huge fan of QVC
He particularly likes Lock N Lock

Roary also enjoys waiting for
"Today's Special Value" on QVC

Jumping on Daddy while he is showering
is particularly fun
Roary LOVES scaling all things high!

In the sink when he was a baby

I also call him "Rat Nose"
because of his pink nose!

When Roary first joined our family
he loved this toy so much he always slept with it close by.

The "Neighborhood Watch Cat"

Those are just a few of MANY fabulous photos of Roary. Roary is incredibly brave, super tough, insatiably curious, he has to know how EVERYTHING works! He opens cupboards (Cody never did), opens doors, he is obsessed with all things mechanical. The dishwasher is a particular obsession.

Roary was sooo active when he was a kitten, we thought we would never adjust to his wild ways! Now, he is much more calm. He has turned into a lap cat, he is super loving. He loves to be extra close to our faces, loves to be cuddled.

Roary puts up with A LOT in reference to Levi. I often don't know how he puts up with him!

Our little "Marshmallow Boy" has brought my husband and I much joy from the day he joined our family. He makes us laugh, he makes me yell (with his daredevil, troublemaking ways), but I wouldn't trade him for the world!

I am looking forward to seeing the mancat he will become!!

Happy Happy First Birthday Roary!!! Daddy, Levi and I love you sooooo much!! PS: Roary's presents will be arriving later in the week. I got him a new Petfusion scratcher (Roary LOVES scratchers!), a new PTU for the Vet (lucky Roary lol), and some new blankets to go in it. Hoping he likes his gifts!

Love you "Roary Boy!!!" We are so thankful to have you in our lives!

We are also thankful to be a part of the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop over at Brian's Home!

Happy 13th Birthday to our Crazy Cody!!!

HAPPY, HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY

TO OUR  PRECIOUS, CRAZY, INDEPENDENT,

BRAVE, FEISTY, CUDDLY, LOVING BOY!!!

If the above photos look familiar to you, they should! I used them last year. Poor Cody, with everything going on, the constant cleaning and washing of our paws, etc., I decided not to add any more stress for ANY of us and didn't want to make Cody sit through another photo shoot!

It's so hard to believe that Cody is 13!!! He was only 2 when this blog began. Our crazy cuddle bug has brought us so much joy in 13 years, he helped heal my broken heart when my Bobo passed. He is special beyond words. That being said as the years go on he is way more mischievous than he was when he was younger!

With all of the madness in the world right now, when Cody comes to sit next to me on the couch, (which he has done EVERY night), just his presence helps to sooth me. We are blessed to have this crazy cuddle bug and cherish each day with him.

Happy, Happy Birthday my Cody, Dad and I adore you and Dakota does too!!

We also want to send a HUGE thank you to Timmy, Dad Pete and family for this PAWESOME card!!! We send them TONS of love and hope they are staying safe! Be sure to visit their  blogs here and here!

Stay safe and healthy everyone, going to try and be better about visiting everyone's blogs.....some days I just can't motivate myself to get it together but I promise I will try and do better! Love to all of you!
