Happy "Cone-Free" Third Birthday to our Precious and Brave Roary!!

Hi every body!!!!! It's Roary and yep I am no longer called "Little Blue Bonnet" because as of June 8th, I am CONE-FREE!!!! I am sooo happy!!! The cone was removed just in time for my 3rd birthday!

But...I do have a fish bone to pick with my Mom and Dad. Do you believe that my pawrents had the NERVE to take me to the V-E-T a mere TWO DAYS before my birthday? Who tortures their pet like that right before their birthday??

Yep you are right! That is ME, good 'ol "Little Blue Bonnet" in the above photo. I thought I found the purrfect spot to avoid "Dr.Smiley", but soon he was hip to my hiding spot.

Dr.Smiley came in, put me in my crate and escorted me to his evil laboratory in the back of the Vet dungeon where they proceeded to stab me remove my sutures and before I knew it, I was CONE-FREE!!    (He also had the AUDACITY to make Mom and Dad take the cone home, "just in case I need it again.")

When Dr.Smiley brought me back to the exam room to see Mom and Dad he was trying to cover for the evil things they did to me in the back of the dungeon by massaging my neck and being all lovey-dovey. (ok I admit the neck massage felt soooo good after wearing that awful cone for 14 days, but you know the story of "fattening sheep up for the slaughter",right?) I have my guard up and will be sure to tell Mom and Dad that being all lovey dovey is just a cover up so they will  never know the heinous things that go on in the back of his deranged laboratory!

See what I mean? You can tell by the look on Dr.Smiley's face that he is planning his next attack! Also, what's with the sisal pole in the cat exam rooms that extend from the floor to the ceiling? Do they actually think that ANY kitties are going to engage in POLE DANCING while being trapped in their sinister exam rooms? NOT THIS KITTY! AND NOT ANY KITTIES THAT ARE WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN TREATS!!

Anyway, I want to THANK YOU ALL for the kind/loving comments you left for me and my Mom and my furmily after my surgery. It meant so much to all of us!!

Hope you like the card that my Mom made just for me for my birthday!!!

FROM THE MOM: Thanks so much again to everyone for your kind words!! Keep the prayers coming though (please!). "Dr.Smiley" told us there is a 50-50 chance the stones will return which will translate to yet another surgery, that one would be to make Roary's anatomy more like a girl which would enable him to pass the stones on his own. We are choosing to look at the glass as being "half full" and are praying that the stones don't return! Roary will have follow up bloodwork in July and barring any unusual urinary symptoms he will have x-rays at some point in September. Paws crossed that nothing happens between now and then!

Daddy and I are super proud of how well Roary adjusted to his cone and his limited activity. He is truly a brave and extremely good natured kitty and we hope those nasty stones leave him alone!!!

Don't tell Roary but I have a surprise for him today! I bought him a special cat tent from Triple T Studios!!

Will try to remember to post photos once I give it to him!

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY ROARY!

Daddy, Levi and I love you more than you know!

Happy 13th Birthday to our Crazy Cody!!!

HAPPY, HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY

TO OUR  PRECIOUS, CRAZY, INDEPENDENT,

BRAVE, FEISTY, CUDDLY, LOVING BOY!!!

If the above photos look familiar to you, they should! I used them last year. Poor Cody, with everything going on, the constant cleaning and washing of our paws, etc., I decided not to add any more stress for ANY of us and didn't want to make Cody sit through another photo shoot!

It's so hard to believe that Cody is 13!!! He was only 2 when this blog began. Our crazy cuddle bug has brought us so much joy in 13 years, he helped heal my broken heart when my Bobo passed. He is special beyond words. That being said as the years go on he is way more mischievous than he was when he was younger!

With all of the madness in the world right now, when Cody comes to sit next to me on the couch, (which he has done EVERY night), just his presence helps to sooth me. We are blessed to have this crazy cuddle bug and cherish each day with him.

Happy, Happy Birthday my Cody, Dad and I adore you and Dakota does too!!

We also want to send a HUGE thank you to Timmy, Dad Pete and family for this PAWESOME card!!! We send them TONS of love and hope they are staying safe! Be sure to visit their  blogs here and here!

Stay safe and healthy everyone, going to try and be better about visiting everyone's blogs.....some days I just can't motivate myself to get it together but I promise I will try and do better! Love to all of you!

Birthday Deja vu, As Dictated To My Husband By Cody

Today, October 20th is a very special day.

photo from "Happy Birthday To You" by Dr.Seuss

It is my Mom, Caren's birthday!  Hooray! Concatulations! To borrow a phrase from Dr.Phil, or was it Dr.Seuss, "lets keep it real."

For reasons unfathomable to me, my dad or anyone else except my mom and Mr.Hallmark, many years ago my Mom decreed that the start of Sweetest Day was the official beginning of her birthday.

This proclamation always begins with,  excuse the expression, "cat fighting" between Mom's friends  to secure breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, bagel, frozen yogurt  or "lets get together for a drink  to catch up" reservations with my mom. These endless culinary connections, along with the inevitable belated greetings and meetings make it a certainty that mom's date of birth is still being acclaimed well into the Thanksgiving season.

Not to be catty, but  toasts to my Moms birthday were still occuring as Santa was dispensing his goodies. Being  a cat I'm lucky to have nine lives, but even I, (the one whom Mom adores!)  don't have nine weeks of birthdays!

Mom, I tried to buy you a birthday cake but I'm on a special diet and rabbit birthday cakes arent in big demand at the local bakery. But I did steal one off the Internet for you!

I am very appreciative of the comfy existence you have provided for me, but lets face facts, I'm a cat we can look comfortable sleeping anywhere and on anything!

Time flies ,another year is in the books and when I wished you a happy birthday, your response was ''Another birthday?  It feels like
"I JUST HAD ONE THE OTHER DAY''.

Guess what Mom, you did.

                                                         Pawty Down!!
Love, Cody

A NOTE FROM MOM: Thank you precious Cody  for your wonderful birthday wishes! Your Dad did a great job of making a mess  of     organizing  your thoughts for you!

Just a small aside as to where my obsession with birthdays (not just mine, I love everyone else's birthday too, I derive great joy in giving presents on birthdays!) arose from.

As a child of approximately 4 years old my favorite book was HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, by Dr.Seuss:

From Wikipedia: "Happy Birthday to You! is a 1959 children's book by Dr. Seuss. It deals with a fantastic land called Katroo, where the Birthday Bird throws everyone an amazing party on their special day. It has almost no plot and consists of one long fantastical celebration, narrated in the second person, of the reader's birthday.

The Birthday Bird appears in an episode of The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss.
The book is dedicated to his "good friends" and "The Children of San Diego County."

I delighted in traveling with the "birthday boy" as the Birthday Bird pops his head in the window at possibly 5am or earlier and takes the little boy on the most glorious adventures for his birthday! Being food obsessed, I remember the illustration of a never ending string of hot dogs. There were bands playing and creatures paying homage to the little boy, all sorts of delightful events took place. At sundown the Birthday Bird returns the little boy to his bed where he drifts happily into slumber, exhausted, and blissfully loved.

For some reason the images and message from that book never left me. It is STILL one of my favorites from my childhood.

My wish for everyone on his or her birthday is that for even a moment,  you can be transcended back into your childhood and experience the joy that birthdays were sure to bring.  A day full of laughter, expectations of the unexpected, delighting in spontaneity, fully living in the moment worry-free and believing when you blow out the candles on your birthday cake, that anything and everything is possible!  Long live our inner child!
