Play Ball and a Give-Away Delay!

Hi All! It's Cody!!!!

First,  I would like to THANK EVERYONE who stopped by my blog, emailed me cards and posted on Facebook to wish me a Happy Birthday! It is much appreciated!

Also...the give-away that was planned for today was NOT an April Fools joke. Mom and I apologize, but there has been a slight delay because Mom ran into an issue that she needs to have cleared up before she can post the give-away. We are hoping to post the give-away tomorrow, but as of now, we are not sure. Thank you  for your patience and please keep your eyes peeled for it!

Today, Mom, Dad and I are excited because BOTH of their teams are kicking off the 2017 baseball season!!!

Dad's team, (and the team that I favor, because I am a feline, The Detroit Tigers), begins their season at 4pm today. They are playing the Chicago White Sox.

MOM'S TEAM (The defending American League Champions, The Cleveland Indians) kicks off the 2017 baseball season at 7pm today against the Texas Rangers.

Yes, Mom lives in Detroit, but she lived in Cleveland for 35 yrs so Cleveland is HER TEAM!!! Also, today it has been 16 years since Mom's Dad passed and he was a HUGE baseball fan. It was thanks to Mom's Dad that she developed a love for the "Boys of Summer" too.

Mom, Dad, Dakota and I wish EVERYONE'S TEAM lots of luck in 2017 but for Dad, I say "Goooooooo Tigers!!" (Dakota, is cheering for Cleveland because he is a MAJOR Mama's Boy!!)

Love,
 Cody

Play Ball!!!!!

Hi every furry! Today is Opening Day of the 2015 Major Leage Baseball season here in Detroit, and Mom and I got to thinking. The Detroit Tiger's mascot is a Tiger (duh!) named "Paws"...and it dawned on me....

I am a TABBY cat, aka a "Tiger" cat and Mom and I think I would make a MUCH better team mascot than Paws.

What do YOU think?

Mom said to tell all of our furiends in Cleveland that her heart still beats "red, white and blue" for her Cleveland Indians....they STILL are "her" team!! But, now that she lives in Detroit, you know how the saying goes...."When in Rome" or in this case, "When in Detroit and it's opening day......(and the Tigers are NOT playing the Indians today), then it's Tigers all the way!!!

Best of luck to the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians in the 2015 season!!! Now, let's

"PLAY BALL!!!!"

"We're Talkin' Baseball, We're Talkin' Tribe!" #GoTribe and maybe a little #DetroitTigers love too!

Sorry guys, but this takes the place of any Wordless Wednesday hopping around!
As many of you know, Mom is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She lived there for 35 years! She didn't move to Michigan until 2001.

So, when her Cleveland sports teams do something to brag about, which is a rare occurrence indeed! Her heart belongs to Cleveland.

Today, the Cleveland Indians are playing a "do-or-die" game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Wild Card playoffs. Mom is purring with all of her might that Cleveland wins and advances in the playoffs. If they lose....they are out.

This photo is from when Mom was lucky enough to attend the World Series in '95 (she was also there in '97)
The music in the video below used to be played on Channel 43 WUAB-Cleveland for all home games and it brings back some great memories!

Now, if by some miracle the Indians advance and continue on, there is an outside chance they will be playing the AL Champion Detroit Tigers, who play their first playoff game in the American League Central, this Friday, they are also the team that Mom cheers for whenever the Indians are NOT playing!

Since Tigers are felines, who do you think that I want to win? Don't know? Well, check it out below! Be sure to notice which team my paw is pointing to....Mom is hoping that this is NOT a harbinger of things to come!

GOOD LUCK TO THE CLEVELAND INDIANS

AND THE DETROIT TIGERS!

A GentleWOMAN AND A Scholar! "Wordy" Wednesday

Many of you will recall that a few weeks back, my baseball team, The Detroit Tigers, was competing in the World Series with the San Francisco Giants, which happens to be the baseball team of my buddy:

Click here to visit Spitty's blog
Spitty's human and my Mom made a bet. The loser had to buy the winner a special surprise that was tied to their "home" city.

Much to our dismay and embarrassment, the Tigers were swept like yesterday's litter and the San Francisco Giants won the World Series. Thanks to Spitty's Mom for forcing us to relive the debacle by blogging about it...AGAIN MOL.

In an attempt to not be a sore loser, which we all know that Mom really IS, Mom sent Spitty's human a delectable treat from one of Detroit's finest, Sanders Fine Chocolates!  Mom sent the :

TOPPING AND TORTIE GIFT BAG

Oh and noooo...the gift bag didn't contain a "Tortie" in the sense that WE kitties know "TORTIES"! There was NO cat in the bag! Mom sent the peanut, chocolate and caramel delight that we all know and love, along with a jar of Sanders famous Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge!

Mom and I were thrilled that Spitty's human enjoyed her treats! Mom thought it was all over and done with when...what did Mom receive today? Let me show you!

A beautifully wrapped package arrived!
From San Francisco!
Mom wondered
what in the world it could be!

Spitty's human  wrote
a most thoughtful note!!
Then Mom opened the package:

Spitty's human had sent the most WONDERFUL magnets that feature the art of Richard Diebenkorn, who grew up in San Francisco. Mom also received a gorgeous set of postcards that feature the artists Matisse and Picasso! They are from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Click here to read about the museum.

Mom was incredibly touched by the thoughtfulness of  Spitty's human, but she was also a tad embarrassed. To represent Detroit, Mom sends calorie-laden treats, well Detroit IS one of the fattest cities in the country, now we know why and Spitty's human sends culture, sophistication and intellect to represent San Franciso...all wrapped beautifully in a box!

Spitty's human said it was "one of her favorite spots."

Hmmm...I think there is a deeper message here. Spitty's human is the epitome of culture, class, brains and sophistication and she portrayed San Francisco as such.

My Mom chooses a gift to represent Detroit that is chocolate-caramel-and -nut-laden.  Mom's gift infers that  she  spends her days sitting on her fat-behind trolling the Internet while shoving bon-bons down her throat, while Spitty's human is soaking up art and culture. Mom chooses a gift that says that HER "favorite spot" is a friggin CANDY SHOP!!   If her gift is a representation of Detroit, NO WONDER WE LOST!

THANK YOU SPITTY'S HUMAN!!

YOU WIN YET AGAIN!

Love, Cody

"LIONS and TIGERS and BEARS!!! OH MY!!"

What a sports day we had here in Detroit yesterday!   "LIONS and TIGERS and BEARS! OH MY!!" "Toto Cody, we are definitely NOT in Kansas Cleveland anymore!"
Detroit Tigers mosaic logo
inside Comerica Park
First, as many of you know, our Detroit Tigers are in the ALCS Playoffs! They are battling the Texas Rangers for the title of American League Champions and should they win, they will be headed to the World Series! The Tigers were playing in Texas yesterday and part of their game overlapped with the NFL's Detroit Lions leonine return to Monday Night Football after a 10 year absence.

The Detroit Lions mascot,
"ROARY"

Felines follow me everywhere
Woman in photo isn't me
She is an employee of Ford Field
who is about to be eaten by the Lion
There were a pride of 67,000+ fans (the largest in the history of Ford Field) who roared with pride as the UNDEFEATED Lions definitely showed "da BEARS" who rules the jungle in the "D"!
We have season tickets
here is one of the views
of the field from our seats

Another view from our seats pre-game.
The excitement was as thick as a Lion's mane!
The large screen showed the Tigers game
before the Lions/Bears game started.
Sadly, the Tigers lost Game 2 of the ALCS
Game 3 will be played tonight on FOX
Go get 'em Tigers!

The Lions/Bears game
couldn't have been better!
HUGE "CONCATULATIONS"
TO THE DETROIT LIONS
WHO POUNCED, MAULED AND CHEWED UP
24-13!!!

Gooooooooooooo Lions!!!
Best of luck for the remainder
of the 2011 Season!

The Detroit Tigers Clinch Baseball's American League Central!! "Concatulations!!!!!""

This photo was taken quite early in the summer
Check out Cody's paw
He OBVIOUSLY predicted the winner
long before anyone else did!

Hi everyone! It's Cody and I am
one happy kitty today!
(my Daddy is too!!)

For most of the summer of 2011
have battled to win the AL Central Division.
Not long ago, the Tigers pulled waaay ahead
of the Cleveland Indians by sweeping them
like a pile of kitty litter
in a most important series.

My Mom was torn.
She lived in Cleveland for 35 yrs
and still loves her "Tribe"
Anyone with any sense and a love of baseball,
(or any sport!!)
knows that just because you
move away from a city where you
lived for nearly your entire life,
it doesn't mean your sports allegiances
 fall by the wayside.
Those who have NEVER moved out-of-state
don't quite "get it"
but that is a whole other topic entirely!

I, on the other paw, was born
on the streets of Detroit
so I am a Tigers fan allll the way!
(plus they are of the "feline persuasion")

Photo Courtesy of Fox Sports Detroit

Mom has decided that now that she lives in Detroit
that either way it could have gone
she would have been a WINNER!
She believes in acknowledging
hard work, dedication and a competitive spirit
(plus she is a darned  DAMN good sport)
Yeah I cursed, told ya I was born on the streets of Detroit get over it!
Now that the Tigers have clinched
(and most deservedly so!!)
we say "CONCATULATIONS"
and bring it all HOME!

Mom and I also think
that Jim Leyland
is the BEST Manager in Baseball!

GOOD LUCK TIGERS!!

Happy 4th Of July Everybody!!

sorry the photo is a little blurry
I moved...lol

"Ohhhh say can you see, by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilights last gleaming ...."

Oooops! Hi!! You caught me singing The Star Spangled Banner, the National Anthem of The United States Of America. If you would like to read the rest of the lyrics you can do that here but it won't be as delightful without my melodious voice serenading you as you read.

Why am I singing the National Anthem? Because today is a very impawtant day. Today we celebrate America's birthday which we also call Independence Day.
If you aren't  from The United States and aren't familiar with the history behind July 4th, you can read about it here

People like to celebrate America's Independence a variety of ways.

 Some people have barbeques

Some people  go to baseball games

My Mom is a Cleveland Indians Fan
because she is originally from Cleveland
I was born in Michigan so as you can see
I keep the Detroit Tigers just a paw pad away

 some people  have picnics

Let's see
catnip? Check!
Kibble? Check!
Canned food? Check!
Put some ice on this baby
and we're good to go!

Some people sunbathe

 some people swim

There are so many different ways that Americans celebrate The 4th Of July.

The biggest celebrations usually involve firework displays:

Image from associated content from Yahoo

I purrsonally don't care for the scary and loud noise that they make.

They hurt my ears.

Nope! I don't like them one bit!
Not me! You can keep 'em!
I want no part of them!

Ohhh noooooooooooo!!!

I hear

 big

BOOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I gotta go!

If you need me

I'll be

if you look closely
you can see my gray fur peeking out on the left

Right HERE!!!

Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!!!!
Keep your Kitties and Doggies
safe from those scary fireworks!
