Yeah, yeah, I know what you are thinking, "How in the world is this guy actually THANKING the Vet for the torture that they put us through?"
A Veterinarian's work is super hard, especially for MY Vet. Above all else, he has to put up with my babbling Mom. I know "Dr.Smiley" is thrilled when my Dad takes Dakota to the Vet and Mom doesn't come, because when I go to the Vet, Mom is there EVERY TIME and NEVER stops talking!
Don't get me wrong my furiends, I don't like being poked and jabbed either, but when I am home and stop to think about it, I know it is all for my own good. Dakota seems to LOVE going to the Vet as evidenced by the photo below (it's an old one, I don't use that carrier anymore, I have a nice new one!).
I guess what Dakota loves about Dr.Smiley is the fact that he is kind, compassionate and caring, I have to admit, I love that about him too. Even if I don't look like I do!
He always gives my Mom good and honest advice. There are MANY, MANY times that he has gone above and beyond, returning Mom's frantic calls, even when he was on vacation.
I don't adore going to the Vet the way Dakota does, but I know it is for my own good, so, I want to take a moment and say THANK YOU "Dr.Smiley" WE LOVE YOU!!!

Although we have a regular clinic, we actually don't have a regular vet - can you believe it? We see different ones, depending on the day my human is able to take us in. They all seem nice.
ReplyDeleteThere are about eight Vets where we go, they are all great, but I stay with one whenever possible. That enables my "boys" to get to know one, and they are better able to know/understand my "boys." There have been times I have seen others, when my regular Vet wasn't there and yes they are all great but I think there are many, many benefits to trying to just stick with one. Especially when you find an incredible one as we have.
DeleteOh I love my vet guy too Cody.....he REALLY cares about me and is so gentle. I don't give him a hard time no matter what he's doing to me......I just relax and know that he's helping me. YAY FOR GOOD VETS!

DeleteWe are the same as Summer, there are five vets in the practice that we go to. They are all good and very good with the cats. Vets are so important.

Our Little Bit had the very best vet. He took care of her all her life. He also help send her to the bridge. He was terrific.

It's impawtent to have a a VET that you like and trust!! Nobody (well...maybe woofies) likes to go to the VET but it's a necessary part of being a healthy kitty or woofie.

DeleteMeowmy likes the vet clinic we go to now, but its always a diffurent one each time we visit...unless you ask fur a specific one. Which she does:)
ReplyDeleteBut...we are thinking of changing ovfur to the vet-man who has the staycation pawlace, and he also has a shelter in back of his office, newly built to help/house/provide home fur FLV+ kitties. Now that is a caring vet! We have decided that this will also be the shelter we support/volunteer and donate to when we are able.
We are glad you love your vet, its so impawrtant to have a good relationship, afterall we are the advo-cat-es fur our furbabies!
Yes there are a number of Vets at ours too, but we only see the others if our Vet is out of town or something. I think changing to the one with the staycation place for you is a pawesome idea! That IS a caring Vet!!!

Even though visiting the vet isn't fun for anyone (except perhaps Cody!), they are a very important part of our lives!

ReplyDeleteWe totally appreciate our vet. We found him nearly 20 years ago when we lived in a different city but we continue to drive 20+ miles to see him because we respect his opinion, technique, and approach to veterinary care.

ReplyDeleteLike myself, you really lucked out with your vet. I hate going and my vet looks like a little yuppie chick but she doesn't do unnecessary tests and listens to TW's concerns. We can also message her if something arises and she responds.

Having a good relationship with a vet is vital.. I care more about my relationship with my vet then I do my own doctor ;)
