Here we go!

My name is:    Cody, when I was adopted my name was Prince. Mom says I am "The Cat Formerly Known as Prince." When my Mom told my foster Mom she was going to name me Cody, my foster Mom begged her not to! She said: "All pets I know named Cody are CRAZY!!" Mom says now 'Nuff said!!

My age when adopted: 8 weeks old.

My nicknames are:   Codester, Codalicious, Co-dependent, Cuddle Bug, (before I lost a ton of weight, Jelly Belly), Dad calls me "Cody Boy." 

My breed is: American shorthair, Tabby cat.

My main color is: gray.

My age is:  13.

My favorite human food is: CHICKEN, CHICKEN, CHICKEN!!

My biggest fear is: Basically nothing, I am not a fearful kitty. I am brave.

My favorite thing(s) to do: now it's pretty much eat. I eat and I eat and I eat...and I keep losing weight. My thyroid tested borderline. Mom is nervous and I am going to the Vet this Friday again :(

Where do I sleep?  Usually on a chair in the living room, or my play house, or my PTU, or the cot in our spare bedroom, or the couch, or my cat tree!

Do I like car rides?: I tolerate them.

Do I purr?: quite a bit!

Do I snore?  Sometimes!

Just a little chat between brothers.................

Hi furiends, it's Cody. Today I have a huge favor to ask of you. My brother, Dakota is experiencing some health issues which could be quite serious. Dakota has had hypertension since late May. He has been on meds, and on his trip to the Vet this past Saturday he went from 180 to 190 compared to a week before. He also has an abscessed tooth Nothing can be done with the tooth until they can find what the cause of the high blood pressure is (Dakota is taking an antibiotic right now). The Vet told my Mom some things that it could be, and Mom, Dad and I are quite scared.  I love my brother. He is my best furiend.

Dakota is scheduled to see an Internist this Tuesday, who will check him and probably do an abdominal ultrasound. If you have a moment, and if you believe in the POTP, could you please send some good, positive energy to my brother? He is 12 and a half years old, like me.  I can't imagine him not being with us, who in the world would I bug if he isn't around?  I have even been giving him kisses to cheer him up. I am trying to cheer Mom up too, but that has been hard to do.

Anyway furiends, I know the POTP works and I would sure appreciate it if you could please put a good word in for my brother? He has been a great brother all of these years and I want him to stay around with me.

Tabby Cat Tuesday

Back on August 8th, our furiends at Four-Legged Furballs did a post where they highlighted adorable Thimble's classic Tabby M  (If you click on the highlighted "Tabby M" you will read a delightful post by our furiend, Amy Shojai that she wrote last December).

Being a Tabby girl at heart I had to share Cody's "classic M" too. For a long time I thought his wasn't easy to see, that is....until I took a photo and REALLY looked!

It IS there in all of it's Tabby glory!!!

What if Cats Had Thumbs?

FROM CAT CHAT WITH CAREN AND CODY: Another throwback!! This is from 2015 with some minor editing.

Hi all it's Cody! Well, it's Cody DICTATING this post to my incompetent human Mom. Which leads me to the point of this blog post.

As many of you know, today happens to be If Pets Had Thumbs Day, (or, in MY world, and for purposes of this post, it is If CATS Had Thumbs Day!)

No one seems to know the exact origin of this day (no surprise there, just add it to the ever-growing list of mindless holidays which in reality mean nothing, but hey, they are FUN, right?) So, without further pussyfooting around, just exactly WHAT would THIS cat do if he had thumbs?

Well, the obvious of course:

•  I could open my own bag of treats
• I could open my own containers of food
• I could turn the doorknob and escape to parts unknown
• I could grab my annoying woofie brother with BOTH paws and hold that giant, furry head between those paws...and.....squeeeezeeee......oh! Please excuse me I got carried away!
• I could take my OWN photos! They sure couldn't be any worse than Mom's!

• I could text with the speed of light and not only that, I could pilfer Mom's iPhone and make all sorts of crank phone calls! Does anyone even still do that?
• I could steal the keys to Mom and Dad's car and drive them around town, Mom drives a stick and I could shift that gear stick like there was no tomorrow!
• I could brush my own teeth
• I could play computer games the right way!!

Those are just a few things that I would do....but...I believe the MAIN thing I would do is COMPLETELY BAN MY MOM FROM WRITING ON THIS BLOG! It would be MINE, ALL MINE! I would be able to type to my heart's content, I could say what I want without fear of upsetting Mom. I would change all of the passwords on her social media accounts too!

 If we all band together, and if we ONLY had thumbs, we would take over the world!!!!!!!!!!

Friday Friend: "Houston"

Hi my furiends!! It's Cody and today, I would like you to meet my new friend, "Houston!"

Now, who is Houston? Well, if you remember we had a coloring book give-away and Houston's Mom, Cheryl, was one of the winners! We got to talking via email, and she told me about her kitty named Houston. Mom and I asked to see a photo and here you go! Isn't he handsome?

Here is what Cheryl wrote about him: "This is my Houston he is four years old. He traveled from Houston Texas to Universal City we found him under the hood when the travelers stopped at a grocery store .They didn't want him so I got to keep him. He is my little buddy😊 "

  

Houston is one lucky kitty isn't he? This got me to thinking, I think it would be fun if anyone wants to see their kitty featured on our blog, just paw me an email and attach a photo, Mom and I will be happy to share! Relaxation Day.....

Well, it's Monday and I am sleepy and didn't have anything in particular that I wanted to blog about until yesterday when I was reading the blog of a beautiful kitty and her Mom that we follow called, Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty.    She had done a Caturday Art post where she created a GORGEOUS photo using an app called Prisma. Athena and her Mom thought that everyone HAD to already know about this app, but Mom and I hadn't heard of it. So, we decided to give it a try and we fell in love with it too! Since today is Relaxation Day (isn't that EVERY DAY for cats?), I think this photo was a great one to use to test out Prisma. Here is what Mom and I created:

Hug Your Cat Day 2016

Yes, yes, yes, I KNOW that EVERY DAY should be "Hug Your Cat Day" but June 4th has been designated as "Hug Your Cat Day", I believe by "Days Of The Year.com"

This would be the purrfect time to consider adopting one. There is nothing better than the unconditional love, joy and health benefits that cats bring to us (dogs and other animals do too, but this post isn't about them!), and they ask for so little in return. All they ask for is for us to love them, to provide safety, security, good food, toys, playtime, and regular veterinary checks.

If only others in our lives needed so little to give us SO MUCH!!

The photo below is of my Angel Bobo (sorry Cody, but you are featured here ALL of the time!). It is Angel Bobo who this blog was originally dedicated to back when it began in 2009. Bobo and I shared 18 beautiful years together. He passed in 2007 and I still miss him and think of him EVERY DAY. This photo is from the 1990s.

Ok, I heard about this online a few days ago, then I saw it Wednesday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

I will admit I HAVE rubbed my nose along my cat's head in a manner in which I pretend I am the "Mama Cat", but this? Is this a little over the top?

From what I understand this is NOT a joke! This is a REAL product that is going to have a Kickstarter campaign beginning soon. It is called "Licki Brush"..........

In Our Hearts and Our Prayers

There has been so much sadness in the blogosphere the past few months.  Too many doggies and kitties have been ill and many have gone to "The Bridge." (We can't list them all because we are certain we would accidentally forget some and we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.).There has been sadness with human health conditions as well.  We want to take a moment and tell all of our friends that we wish we could make the pain go away. We wish we could bring the furbabies back who have left us, and we wish we could heal those who are hurting, but we can't.

What we CAN do is tell you that we love you, that we  are thinking of you and keeping you all in our prayers.
