Belated Happy Father's Day, International Box Day, Juneteenth and Our Youngest Granddaughter's 4th Birthday!

 What a day of celebrations!!!

It appears for the past two years I missed acknowledging our Dad and all of you special Dads out there (as well as father figures) on Father's Day (which was last Sunday). I have good reason (at least for this year!!) We were at the zoo celebrating anniversaries, father's day and a special birthday! Soooo...HAPPY BELATED FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OF YOU!! Here are some great photos of Levi and Roary and their pawesome Dad!

Today we also celebrate International Box Day with some previously seen photos of Roary, (sorry I haven't photographed him in a box in a while!)

graphic made by Ann at Zoolatry

Even Levi enjoys "boxes", while not traditional cardboard boxes, he LOVES standing on top of the "boxes" at Canine College! (Sorry about the blurry photo but it was taken when I was watching Levi on camera!)

Today we also commemorate freedom and equality for African Americans by celebrating "Juneteenth." May those who celebrate have a meaningful celebration!

Last and DEFINITELY not least, today we celebrate our youngest granddaughter who is turning FOUR!!! She is one of the sweetest and funniest little girls you will ever meet! So much to celebrate on June 19th!!!

International Box Day & National Garfield the Cat Day!

Happy International Box Day and National Garfield the Cat Day!!!

"International Box day is celebrated every year on the 19 th of June. If you love cats and you have cats this day is for you. The purpose is to spend some time together with your loving pet and have fun. On this day people basically celebrate the magnificent pair of boxes and cats."

While Cody was pretty much NOT a fan of boxes, Roary has yet to meet a box that he doesn't love!!

Roary is insatiably curious!

ANY box that enters this house, he's all over it (or inside it!)

How about your kitties? Fans of boxes or not?

Today is also  National Garfield the Cat Day. I was a fan of Garfield looong before I ever had my first cat. I have always had a "thing" for tabbies, and I was (and still am) a huge fan of Garfield's sarcasm.

"National Garfield the Cat Day – He’s witty, he’s sassy, he’s blunt, he’s saucy…he’s, well, Garfield."  Today we celebrate the world’s most opinionated feline!!!

The GARFIELD comic strip was born on June 19, 1978, created by Jim Davis and syndicated in
forty-one U.S. newspapers. Today it’s syndicated in more than 2,100
newspapers worldwide with more than 200 million readers,
leading Guinness World Records to name GARFIELD The Most Widely
Syndicated Comic Strip in the World.

(To me, Garfield was the ORIGINAL "Grumpy Cat" and I have ALWAYS preferred him!).

ABOUT JIM DAVIS
"Jim Davis was born on July 28, 1945, in Marion, Indiana. He later attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where he
distinguished himself by earning one of the lowest
cumulative grade point averages in the history of the university.  Davis has had many
successes with Garfield, including four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program and induction into the Licensing Hall of Fame (1998), but his most prized awards are from his peers in the National Cartoonist Society: Best Humor Strip (1981 and 1985), the Elzie Segar Award (1990), and the coveted Reuben Award (1990) for overall excellence in cartooning.

Hoping you all have a CATABULOUS day !!

International Box Day

From Cat Chat With Caren and Cody: Portions of this post are from June 19, 2015. We figured since we always have some readers who might not have seen something, we would share some of it again. (Cody is now 10, he was 8 yrs old when this post first appeared).

Hi every furry it's Cody!

Today marks only the SECOND time in my almost six years of blogging,  that I am pawticipating in the festivities surrounding a holiday that was created by the pet blogging community, International Box Day. This day was created because to most kitties (and even some woofies), cats and boxes just kind of go together, kinda like catnip and toys, or me and food, capisce?  Take note, I said "MOST" kitties...not EVERY kitty loves boxes....I am one of those kitties.

You see, I am a rather unique kitty in many ways, what most kitties DON'T like, I LOVE, and what most kitties LOVE, I don't like.

Just a few of the things that make me different are :

I am not afraid of the vacuum
I love my vet
I don't mind the car
I willingly take my medicine
I greet strangers in our home, BEFORE my woofie brother, Dakota does
I love to be cuddled
I love to lie on my back
I do NOT lay on laundry AFTER it has been dried.
I do NOT lay on the bed
I could care less about water running from the sink

Normally, I prefer to "think OUTSIDE of the box!" Yes, that's true! I am a kitty that doesn't relish being confined by ANYTHING!

I am eight years young, and this past year was probably the FIRST year that I showed more interest in boxes than any year thus far!

Mom was super excited because that meant that I could now pawticipate in International Box Day,

You know what they say,
"If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em!!!
Happy International Box Day
to all of you NORMAL
kitties and woofies out there!!!

Now, allow me to present to you my meager contribution for International Box Day! The first, is a video my Mom had on the blog about a month ago that some of you might have missed. It's super short, so no worries!

Thinking outside the box

Hi every furry and Happy International Box Day!!!

My Mom says I am a strange kitty. I have never been the sort of a kitty is particularly enthralled with boxes. Mom says Grandpa Bobo used to LOVE spending time in various boxes. Me? Not so much. Sure, I like pawing through them like most cats, but for me, that is just to look for food.

I am the kind of a cat that prefers a warm cozy cave. I'm into softness, not cardboard.

That being said......give me a box full of nip and I'm all over it!

This is about as much box action as you will get out of me!

I know most of you kitties LOVE boxes so enjoy!!

Love, Cody
