So, Who's Tired Today?

This post first appeared on Monday, March 14, 2011. Each year we are blessed with new readers and I thought since MANY of the sentiments I expressed are still valid, it was worth sharing this again with a few changes beginning with the new photo at the top! Enjoy!!

I'm tired.

I'm feeling out-of-sorts, cranky and off schedule (yep even being unemployed, I DO have a schedule thank you very much!).

I'm TIRED!

I can't concentrate.

I'm T-I-R-E-D!!

Many of us throughout the world follow Daylight Saving Time.  (No, I didn't forget the "s" it IS DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME). It was bad enough when the clocks were turned ahead an hour the last week of April,  now the dreaded "spring-ahead-an-hour-and-want-to-scream-at-everyone-around-you-because-you-are-TIRED-event" (for me at least), takes place in early March. Couldn't "they" (whoever "they" ARE, leave well enough alone?)

While much of the rest of the country  is  preparing to tip-toe through their Spring tulips and are giggling at the prospect of longer days to come, those of us like myself who already don't get enough sleep, (I am often up til the wee hours of the morning) are seething.

I'm tired.

need my sleep.

Ironically while I am sitting here at 12:20am, which to me is 11:20pm..(mentally changing the time when I look at the clock is a little game I will be playing for at least the next week), all I can hear is the tick, tick, tick of the wall clock in front of me...it's ticking beginning to sound like "Ha...ha...ha... I... got.... you".

I'm TIRED!!

Don't mess with my clock, my routine, my internal alarm, don't mess with my sleep-deprived self!

You are probably asking "what in the heck does ANY of this have to do with cats? Isn't this a CAT BLOG for Pete's sake?"

Don't mess with me.

I told you... I'm TIRED!

I'm feeling out-of-sorts, cranky and off schedule.

"Cats don't like change
 without their consent."

Roger Caras

For the record....neither do I!

Now, if you'll kindly excuse me, I am going to bed. It's 1:15am or 12:15am or whatever it is and I'm TIRED!

  3. We blinked sleepily at the pawrents too, when they got u to go to church...and it was still dark...What the Cat is wrong with them we thought.
    Even dog-guy is still sleeping.
Do you know how much work there is in our den when those clocks have to be changed twice a year??...lets see now: 3 in the kitchen, 3 in the dining room, 2 in the living room, and three upstairs. Not to mention all the watches and devices...sigh...Our grandpawppy used to have bejillions of clocks to change, he was a clock maker/repairman...and when he retired from his business he still had to change all the clocks in his senior apartment complex, not to mention the ones in his own apartment, MOL!!
    What a pain. Uh-huh...what a PAIN!

    1. OMC!!! We have 3 in the kitchen too, but we leave the one on the coffee pot wrong MOL!!!! That's our main clocks. The others change automatically and I often drive with my car on the wrong time til it goes in for service!!! lol!!!!! Love that your grandpawppy was a clock maker/repairman that is so cool! He must have the eyes of a pilot and the hands of a surgeon! xoxo

    2. Yup...and he fixed watches too, and also was a graduate Jeweler...aka gemologist. He had his own store, and meowmy grew up always having him at home, and her Mom, too of course as she helped grand-pawppy. And, nope, no one followed in his footsteps, unless you count the fact that meowmy's sister and brother both know how to do accounting, they helped pawppy in his later years do his books before they went to the certified accountant...and our Uncle is a retired accountant now, worked for years in a bank. Our Auntie is a corrections officer, in a jail, not sure what that has to do with accounting, MOL!!

  5. We hate it here too....but whatcha gonna do? Sam is ready for me to get up WHENEVER - no matter what the clocks say - he'll make it known that I've had enough sleep (as far as he's concerned). Oh well - thank heavens for coffee!

    Hugs, Pam (and Sam)

  7. Yep. Not big fans of springing forward. It IS nice not to have to walk home in the dark, but still ... the losing an hour of sleep thing is ugh...

  8. We agree Cody, the humans should stop messing with the time!!!

  9. I so agree Cody. People are tired, people are grumpy, there are more accidents. Leave the time where it is and never change it again.

Have a purrfect day Cody. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥♥3

  12. We will ... be tired at the end of the month, not now.
The problem will be Hisia. She will not be tired. I will be tired. She likes to go out just before the night and she comes back between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm. She will come back one hour later and I dont like it.
    Bonne soirée

  13. We don't change for another 2 weeks, but I know my mum will be like a bear with a sore head. She doesn't like mornings at the best of times.

  14. Since we had to get up at 2:45am which is like 1:45am before the change this morning, we are all pretty wiped out around here.

  15. We feel your pain. We'll "enjoy" DST within two weeks. And we hate it. Purrs

  16. Our Mommy hates it too. She thinks they should quit making us do this silly nonsense ;)

  18. We LOVE all the photos, cartoons, quotes and captions and we haven't seen them before! Thanks for making us laff so much!!!

  19. We snoozed all day trying to make up for that lost hour. :)

  20. Those are great. I would think kitties like springing ahead because you eat breakfast earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Messing with time like this should be banned, don't you think? I mean, has no one learned their mistakes from all those time travel movies in which everything goes horribly wrong? I might be alone in that thought around here, though, because my kitties seemed to enjoy certain things (ahem, breakfast) happening earlier than expected. Purrs!

  22. The hour hasn't changed here in Portugal yet. Still two more weeks to go.
But I also have to be robbed of precious sleeping hours!

  23. I took a two-hour nap on Sunday, but am still a bit punky this Monday morning. And it's rainy and foggy...actually, the perfect start to the work week!

  25. I swear, I wish "they" would just PICK a time and use it and leave everyone alone!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree with that, and in the middle of freaking class I feel like going to bed. An hour to me feels like ten, but only when I'm in need of more sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  27. We do not know why silly humans have to change the clocks. It makes no sense to us!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My kitties are having trouble getting out of bed too!

  29. Haha great post, Daylight saving time is the worst thing.

  30. It's Tuesday already and I'm still functioning on my internal clock! My kitties can't understand why the humans are cranky when they come home from work in the evening. Well, that would be the female human (moi) who has to commute, while the male human is surrounded by his kitty assistants, who seem to be none the worse for wear! As for me, some more coffee will do!

  31. How many days does it take to recover? More than two it seems. The feeding schedules seem to have slipped OK.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm with you, Caren. Waking up during the night and doing MATH to figure out what time it really should be doesn't work like counting sheep...
The cats are happy to eat breakfast a bit earlier.
    xxoo

  33. "PLEASE ... SEND ... SORTS. Our mom is tooootally out of them!" (we agree 1000% - Daylight SAVING time is ICKY.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If you find some sorts, please send some here too! It's Wednesday (at least I'm pretty sure it is), and my external & internal clocks are still disagreeing.

  35. We know what you mean, Cody and Caren. We don't looking forward to our change of time next week. I use my own time, like Always, but Granny can't get used to it either. Who ever invented this, must see a docter :D Pawkisses for a Good Night :) <3
