MICHIGAN HUMANE SOCIETY TO CELEBRATE ‘CAT INDEPENDENCE DAYS’ WITH WAIVED FELINE ADOPTION FEES, JULY 1-3

Celebrating the purr-suit of life, liberty
and the little red laser dot on the floor!

To help adoptable cats find homes more quickly at a time when shelters everywhere are bursting at the seams with felines, the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) has announced that July 1, 2 and 3 are “Cat Independence Days” with fee-waived adoptions on cats and kittens at all MHS adoption locations. The regular MHS adoption process will apply, and all fee-waived adoptions will include the valuable MHS adoption package.

“The extra-busy summer season brings an influx of wonderful cats and litters of kittens to our doors,” said CJ Bentley, MHS Senior Director of Operations. “By waiving feline adoption fees for three days in celebration of the Independence Day holiday, we are supporting them in the purr-suit of finding loving homes even more quickly.”

The MHS cat and kitten adoption package includes sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, a medical check-up, behavior evaluation, feline leukemia test and no-cost microchipping.

  • MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care: 7401 Chrysler Dr.
  • MHS Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care: 3600 W. Auburn Rd.
  • MHS Berman Center for Animal Care (Westland): 900 N. Newburgh Rd.

In addition, MHS cats and kittens can be adopted at PetSmart in Dearborn and Roseville and at Petco in Sterling Heights.
Adoption hours vary by location. For the complete list of MHS adoption locations and hours, visit www.michiganhumane.org. All MHS locations will be closed on Saturday, July 4.

The Michigan Humane Society is the largest and oldest animal welfare organization in the state. MHS works to end companion animal homelessness, provide the highest quality service and compassion to the animals entrusted to our care, and to be a leader in promoting humane values.
