Cats & Dogs:The Revenge of Kitty Galore

I haven't been able to watch TV lately without constantly seeing the promos for "Cats & Dogs:
The Revenge of Kitty Galore"
coming at me from all directions. I have to admit whomever is marketing this movie is doing an amazing job because against my better judgment this movie has piqued my curiosity.

"Cats & Dogs:The Revenge of Kitty Galore" is actually the sequel to the 2001 move "Cats & Dogs" (have any of you seen it?)

I often try to ignore blogging about the obvious and hottest topics pertaining to cats  and choose topics that might be a little off the beaten path but I have to say the marketing magic done with this movie made me change my mind. The promos are everywhere and I must say they have intrigued me. Intrigued me to the point that I HAVE to go and see this movie? Not sure. I am relying on the judgment of you, my loyal readers of Cat Chat to offer your feedback, either persuading me to go or pass (at least until it is released on DVD).

So what is this movie about?

The Plot:"Kitty Galore (Bette Midler), a hairless Sphynx cat, is fed up with dogs and her fellow cat comrades, so she decides to take over the world and enslave the humans. Diggs (James Marsden), a German Shepherd police dog, and his mentor, Butch (Nick Nolte), are selected by the Dogs HQ spy force to stop her. Having no other option to stop Kitty Galore, the cats join forces with the dogs with additional support from a pigeon to stop Galore's evil scheme. Meanwhile, Kitty Galore gains the aid of the mice (One of them is also seen as her pet) and Mr. Tinkles (Sean Hayes), the antagonist from the first movie. Cats and dogs must now work together to save the world, and their humans." www.wikipedia.com

What intrigues me most about this movie is the amazing roster of stars lending their talents as voices of the cast of this movie. In addition to the names listed above the voices of Christina Applegate, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris O'Donnell and Alec Baldwin are all a part of this film.

Another point that has me intrigued is I heard somewhere along the way that all of the cats and dogs in this film are all rescue animals. Nothing better than that, I love a rags to riches story.
People Magazine gives this movie 3 out of 4 stars (for those who care what the critics say).

The definition of "galore" from Websters is "in abundance, plentifully, to attract crowds" it remains to be seen if "Cats & Dogs:The Revenge of Kitty Galore" will prove this definition to be true. Now, YOU tell me, are you planning on seeing this film? I eagerly await your decisions!

  1. If I could get past the aspect of talking animals and the ridiculous plot premise, and I had absolutely nothing better to do, and a 6-year old to watch it with me, and it was FREE.....then I might go.

I did see "Cats and Dogs" and it was pretty bad.

By the way, "Kitty Galore" is a nod to the female cat burglar character "Pussy Galore" from the James Bond novel "Goldfinger".

  2. Jacqui I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your comment! I think I would have to agree!

I didn't know that about "Kitty Galore"...now that you mention it I do remember the name "Pussy Galore" from the James Bond movie (I have never been a big fan of James Bond though) but the name rang a bell!

Thanks for giving me your vote to stay away, interested to see what other comments will be rolling in!

    Thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. I found the trailers rather frightening myself. Mind you I go and see ALL the animated films generally. This kind of animation kind of freaks me out, and certainly not in 3-D! MOL!

  4. Kokoro I agree about the 3-D!! I have issues with dizziness and I avoid 3-D movies because of that!

Maybe your Mom can watch it first and then see if it is ok for you so it doesn't frighten you!

  5. Looks like it might be kinda scary for a younger child. M said she will probably see it, but not fully decided yet. She likes movies dat make her laugh even if they are kinda far-fetched. I like the fact they used rescue anipals. I also like the fact that they aren't focusing a particular breed, cuz then oomans go crazy and want a pet just like the hero. Then animal ends up in shelter because oomans didn't give it enough thought. Just meowing.

  6. I'll wait for the DVD as I don't think it's worth to spend that much money on it.

The plot doesn't sound interesting to me at all and I never like 3-D, I think I'm the old fashioned one. Furthermore, I watched the previous one which I didn't like it at all, this time the cats and dogs unite and work together to save the human world is just another selling gimmick to me.

However, if all the animals in the movie are truly rescue dogs, I'd love to support it. By the way, Rosie just likes to watch those beautiful animals in the movie. She thinks the German Shepherd in the movie is really pretty and so it's worth watching. LOL!!!I know it sounds crazy, but she's that crazy.

It'd be lovely if it's FREE, yay!!!

  7. Mario you mentioned such a good point about not focusing on one pet (like Marley and me) or something like that. People do go nuts and get whatever animal is in the movie and then can't take care of it.
    Good point.
I am thinking I will probably wait til it is on cable.

  8. Priscilla I agree with you as well. I am old fashioned I think too and I don't care for 3-D at all!

Do you ever notice there are never Shelties in movies? Why is that?

That was adorable about Rosie, so cute that she can pick out another German Shepherd!!!

    Thanks to everyone for commenting!

  12. Ok Moxie if you go and see the movie I am hoping you will stop back here and post your comments as to what you thought of it! :)

Thanks for popping in and for commenting! I appreciate it!

  13. It's not out here yet, but we don't think our humans will go see it when it is. They'd rather watch us :)

  14. Inigo and d'Artagnan I don't blame your "humans" one bit! It appears that so far we pretty much only have one "purrson" who is saying they would see it.

I am hugely leaning towards waiting for it to be on cable (which I am afraid might be soon!)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  15. I actually enjoyed the first film. Cheesy? Campy? Yes, but any Persian with a plan for world domination is OK by me. Should these have gone straight to DVD? Perhaps. I hope that if nothing else, though, that this film encourages responsible adoption. There are great shelter pets out there!
