National Selfie Day

Ok we have now seen everything! Did you know that today is National Selfie Day?   There is a day for everything it seems! Today I want to share one of my favorite "selfies" of Cody. It's just too cute for words!

History of Selfie Day
Selfies have probably existed as long as hand-held cameras have been a thing. Human vanity is so utterly profound that if we’re given the opportunity to do something self-aggrandizing, we do. This habit, in our defense, doesn’t seem to be strictly human in nature. Given access to a camera and a little time to figure it out, monkeys will start snapping selfies like no one’s business.
In 2014, BBC officially declared a Selfie Day, which amusingly heralded a sudden decline in selfies. Interestingly, there was a similar drop after the Oxford English Dictionary added ‘selfie’ to its pages. Apparently making something official is a damned fine way of making sure no one wants to do them anymore.
Well, we all know that there is no decline in selfies when it comes to cats and dogs, now is there? Go ahead pals, snap away!!!

WE MISS YOU! (A lot!!!)

It's time for a visit.

248-646-1669

Dear Caren,

Please disregard this message if you have already scheduled your appointment.

See you soon!
DePorre Veterinary Hospital

KITTIES!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never showed you outtakes from my last appointment with "Dr.Smiley" and his "Evil" Assistant!!!

Mom had taken me on a surprise journey to see him a couple of months ago when I was having another allergy flare-up, and here are some gruesome shots from my visit!!! Be sure to note the JOY in their faces and the LACK OF JOY on mine!

"I sure don't recall ANYONE having made an appointment for a PAWDICURE!!!!!! Get your paws off of me!!!"

Then kitties, the HORROR continued!!! "Dr.Smiley", his "Evil" assistant, and my equally "Evil" Mom, wanted to record this violation for posterity by taking a:

VET GROUP SELFIE!!!!!!
Contrary to popular opinion, the positioning of my tail between my legs does NOT mean that I was "Happy to see them!!"

Head on over and see what are hopefully MUCH LESS humiliating photos of other kitties at:

In full disclosure: I was just kidding!! I TRULY LOVE "Dr.Smiley" AND his "Evil Assistant", well, at least MOST of the time!!!!! Now if you will excuse me, I gotta go and destroy that email before Mom sees it!

Love,
Cody

Cody is in the book:"Kittenish" by Gwen Cooper & Homer's Heroes !!! #Kittenish #HomersHeroes #NepalQuake

It is almost six years since my first book review appeared on this blog. The first review was none other than Homer's Odyssey by Gwen Cooper. I vividly remember how terrified I had been when Gwen contacted me asking if I would review Homer's book. I had been blogging less than a year and had never reviewed any book, EVER. I was so flattered that Gwen had contacted me, that I eagerly accepted and figured I'd worry about how to review a book later.

Since then, I have reviewed dozens and dozens of books, both on this blog and Dakota's, and have featured Gwen on this blog a minimum of  six times. I reviewed her book,  Love Saves The Day (I guess I did a good enough job on Homer's review that Gwen asked me to review her next book!), and some misc. blog posts to help Gwen in her on-going quest to help animals in need.

Today I am honored to feature her latest  endeavor:

Cover Cat:Maddee/Atwater, California
which started in late May, 2015 as a "send-up" of Kim Kardashian's best-selling selfies collection, Selfish. To quote Gwen "to that end, we tried to hew as closely as possible to the look and feel of the original-down to the interior black-page section where the "sexy pics" are featured. (Warning:Very few of the cats consented to wear costumes for this book, so almost all of these selfies are nudes;) Cats are probably the only ones having as big a pop-cultural moment as the Kardashians, so the comparison seemed apt."

Kittenish was created with the intent of enabling those of us who felt helpless watching the horror of the Nepal earthquakes and the devastation they caused for humans and animals, to do something meaningful.  By purchasing a copy of Kittenish you are helping the victims of the Nepal earthquakes and their animals. 100% OF THE PROCEEDS FROM KITTENISH WILL GO TO HUMANE SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL TO FUND ANIMAL RESCUE IN NEPAL!

When Gwen sent out the call for photo submissions, Cody could not WAIT to send her his photo!

Gwen told us she received over 8000 photos from several dozen countries! Those 8000+ photos had to be tapered down to 403 selfies!  When Gwen wrote to us and said that Cody made the cut to be in Kittenish, we were ecstatic!! Cody and I are honored to be a part of this most important endeavor to help humans and animals in need in Nepal.

When I purchased our copy, and when it arrived, I fell in love with how adorable ALL the "selfies" are in Kittenish. Especially Cody's! See for yourself!

Ok, I live in Farmington Hills, MICHIGAN
but for Gwen,
I'll live ANYWHERE!
From Gwen Cooper: I'm often asked what the value is in helping animals at all when there are so many humans in need. My answer is always the same:When you help animals, you help people too.

Please help Gwen help the people and animals of Nepal by purchasing a copy of  Kittenish. "Thank you for supporting this book, and the cause of animal rescue."

Buy your ebook for only $3.99,
or a physical copy, here: www.hihomer.com

WE thank Gwen Cooper for all she does for animals in need.

Gwen lives in Manhattan with her husband, Laurence. She also lives with her two perfect cats-Tripod Clayton and his litter-mate, Fanny-who aren't impressed with any of it!

Spectacular Selfie Sunday News!

Hi every furry! It's Cody!

Before I show you my selfie for today, Mom and I wanted to give you an update as to how I am doing.

Remember when "Dr.Smiley's" assistants stole my blood and shipped it off to some unknown land to be tested? Well, "Dr.Smiley" called Friday night with some news for my Mom and.....

THE BLOOD PANEL TEST

WAS 100% NORMAL!!!!

Mom was shrieking and when she got off of the phone she and Dad kept telling me what a great job I did! They kept kissing me and petting me. I just looked at them as if they were nuts, (which they are!)

I told them I  all along that I was fine,
 and NO ONE would listen!!

Kudos to "Dr.Smiley",  had he been in town to begin with, this might have all been "nipped" in the bud! "Dr.Smiley's" instincts are always spot on, we are so lucky to have him in our lives. That being said, I am grateful that I don't have to be taken back to his "Evil Castle" for at least a few months!!

So, now that things are back to "normal", as normal as they can be at my house, Mom was bugging me to do a Selfie for today so that we could update everyone. I didn't want to take a selfie, but to make her happy, I relented.

Mom and I would like to thank EVERYONE for all of their comments, emails, messages, etc. and for the MANY purrs and prayers that I received.  There are no better people in the world than animal lovers unless they happen to be pet bloggers. They rally around each other and give support, prayers and love unselfishly and they truly "get it."

Mom and I are proud to be a part of such an incredibly caring group of people and their pets.

We love you and thank you ALL!!!

Cody and "Mom"

Now, head on over and see the rest of the pawesome selfies over at Cat On My Head!

Snarky Selfie Sunday

Last Sunday I arrived home from having spent a few days in Ft.Lauderdale where I attended the Miami-Ft.Lauderdale Pet Expo.

My husband had told me that Cody seemed to miss me more than usual this trip, (maybe because I had just been away in Atlanta a mere week and a half before that?

Cody conveyed his displeasure with me with this snarky selfie, this was taken not long after I arrived home. I wasn't thrilled with the color, etc, so I added a Vintage touch from www.ribbet.com

Happy to be a part of the Sunday Selfie Blog Hop hosted by:
