When I read God is in the Little Things:Messages from the Animals, this past weekend, I have to admit that as much as I DO believe in the spirit world, and the belief that  loved ones and animals do communicate with us, the skeptical side of me had a hard time believing some of the events that Author Brooks experienced that are featured in the book.  By her own admission in the preface, she says that: "though some things will seem fantastical, I assure you they are all true."

 I had never heard of the concept of animal totems until I read this book, I am sure that many of you probably have, I just had never heard of them, after reading this book, I am interested in learning more.

From Patricia's website: Animal totems are animals that visit us either physically, in the dream state or through mediation. They come to us in either unique or repetitive ways. The belief is that the animals energetically communicate with us whether through their own spirit or God communicating through the animals. The behaviors and characteristics of the animals are studied because they are symbolic of their message. This belief has been a part of many cultures throughout history. For centuries man has looked to animals and the symbolism of their unique qualities, to garner guidance and inspiration.

I do believe that "communication with the Divine is not only possible, it is happening all around us.", as Brooks says. She goes on to say that "we just have to be open and aware of it, so we can fully participate in our human and spiritual journey."  I am just being candid by saying that yes I DID have a hard time believing that a number of the events stated in the book actually took place. That being said, the book is a super quick read, full of emotion, well-written and it definitely held my interest. It also made me THINK. I have subscribed to Patricia Brook's mailing list on her website to receive her free report about understanding animal totems, because I am still having trouble wrapping my head around hearing from any animal other than one that I have loved and lost. I am DEFINITELY open to learning more and will keep my eyes, mind and heart open for animal totems that might appear in my life.

Over 50% answered that their cat's favorite thing to do was roam!! A close second at 20.88 % was napping/sleeping.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

48.97% said getting wet.  The second biggest pet peeve? 27.98% said being woken from sleeping or napping.

How often do you like being treated? (As in getting treats to "nom" on!)

45.2 % said right now!! 27.60% said ALWAYS!

What is your favorite thing to do with your human companion?

At 52.02% taking naps together came in first, followed by, sitting and talking with me on the couch 28.23%.
