"Go Make A Difference, Touch a Heart"
When I looked through my pet blogging calendar and noticed that today is Play God Day, I will admit that at first I was a bit taken aback. "Play God Day?" I was bothered because I started to think "who am I to think that I would have the audacity to behave as if I were God?" I couldn't have been more wrong.
From Days of The Year:
Play God Day seeks to get past those self-centered
tendencies and calls us to extend out beyond the confines of our own desires
and encourage or touch another person’s day. If you were god how would you
change the world? If you had the place of the higher being you could set right
all the wrongs you see in the world and that is the theme and purpose for this
day.
History of Play God Day
Humans have always imagined what they might do if they were in the place of god and even those not given to such beliefs will often speak in terms of what they think a god ought to do. Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs were considered gods and would act as such and many other ancient texts reference men seeking to become gods or to take the place of a god.
In recent culture films such as Bruce Almighty explore
the idea of what it means to play god and what those powers should entail. The
discussion of “playing god” has become more prominent even as technology
advances and humans delve into new areas of biology and other fields.
Celebrating Play God Day
The purpose of Play God Day is to perform some kind act for another person, or just generally contribute to the well-being of the world as a whole. There are many ways to go about this, if you’re so inclined.
Reaching out to help or encourage a co-worker or family
member is an excellent way to start observing the day. Instead of rushing past the car stranded on the side
of the road you might stop and offer assistance, even if it’s just a phone call
to a local gas station or towing service.
Ask yourself, “If I were god, what would I change about
the current state of affairs?” and then see how many of those things you’re
already capable of contributing to in your situation at home or at work. You
might be surprised at the various ways in which a simple change might bring
about the effect you want.

Pig In A Blanket Day
Ok, so that was kind of mean of me to use Cody in photos for today, which is "Pig In A Blanket Day."
FROM DAYS OF THE YEAR: Pigs In A Blanket are a simple concept and have been found
throughout the world in many variations since time out of mind. You simply take
a sausage and wrap it! Usually, you’ll find them wrapped in some form of
pastry, with puff pastry being one of the most universally popular. Learn more about "Pig In A Blanket Day" here!
Relax Cody! You know I REALLY featured you on this day, not because of your ample "belleh", but because of your complete DELICIOUSNESS!

Napping Day
How perfect that Napping Day 2017 falls the day after the clocks went ahead for many of us......I we should just do what our cats ALWAYS do........
– Barbara Jordan
NAP!!!
Think what a better world it would be if we all,
the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and
then lay down on our blankets for a nap.

Blogging Cat Wants to know: How Messy Is YOUR Desk?
Hi all it's Cody! Today I am so upset that I could just hiss! Today is Clean Off Your Desk Day. It is a day where humans are supposed to get rid of all unnecessary clutter on their desks!!
I think a certain someone in MY house named "Mom" did NOT get the memo. Dad and I are aggravated! Believe it or not, Mom and I HAVE an "office"....Dad keeps threatening to take it over, but Mom won't hear of it. It doesn't make sense because she NEVER uses it!
Ok, our office isn't the best looking, it isn't modern, hip and happening, but it is FULL of all sorts of things that Mom loves and many that I love too!!!
Now...Mom hasn't worked in this office in so long that I probably cannot count that high. Instead, Mom has chosen to turn the dining room table into her "office." Furiends, I am telling you it is a DISASTER!!
Whenever I mention to Mom that WE need to get BACK in our office she tells me that she prefers the dining room table because she can see the TV AND it is close to the kitchen, (yeah, ok, we live in a mansion, NOT!!! ANY room is close to the kitchen, and last time I looked, Mom needs to STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN, unless of course, she is feeding ME!!)
When I mentioned to Mom that I am TRYING to understand her illogical reasoning, I start pleading with her to at LEAST clean the dining room table up, she just refers me to these fun photos she found on Pinterest to support her argument that HERdesk dining room table, is FINE!!
Ok Mom keep telling yourself that. Now, I am going to share the messydesk dining room table that YOU think is BETTER and we will have our furiends decide! Here you go, here is where Mom works (and where she forces ME to work too!)
I am thoroughly disgusted by that photo! So much so, that I had Mom take a quiz to PROVE to her that her mess is OUT OF CONTROL!!! Here are her results:
You haven’t seen your desktop in months and your workspace could use some TLC. Start by removing any unnecessary wrappers, papers and trash. Add an air freshener to get rid of foul smells. Label drawers and cabinets to help you stay organized. Consider relocating that old printer or bookcase that is rarely used, in exchange for a closed storage cabinet.
I rest my case! Now furiends do you think I should be subjected to working surrounded by junk, or in our designated office space as shown below
Let me know furiends, also, what is the area where YOU work like? Is it messy or tidy? This kitty wants to know!!!
In the meantime, I had better NOT let Mom see this!!
Love,
Cody

Cat "Mews": Happy "Mew Year's Day for Cats" Coloring and Cabana Cats
Hi my furry furiends, it's Cody! Hope you enjoyed spending New Year's Eve and the "traditional" New Year's Day with your humans! Now this is new to me, but I learned from our Cat Blogosphere calendar that today is "Happy Mew Year's Day for Cats."
I learned that this day was created by wellcat.com so cats could have their OWN New Year's celebration. Now, that's pretty cool!!
There are many ways to celebrate this day, one of the more obvious is for someone who wants to add a cat to their family (and who DOESN'T?) this would be a purrfect day to do so!
Other ways to celebrate are to share some things that are cat related, and that is exactly what we wanted to do for you today.
Back in November, our furiends at Sundays at the Shelter shared a page with us that we could color. Mom finally got around to completing coloring it the other day.
The artist behind the original drawing is none other than the talented Maggie Swanson, we reviewed a book of hers way back in 2012, but never realized she has coloring books too! How did we NOT know this?
Mom isn't 100 percent pleased with how the drawing came out. But she sure had fun completing it!
The other bit of news we wanted to share is that our precious and cherished, long time friend Nellie isn't feeling well. We know that most of you have already visited and shared some POTP, but for those who didn't know, I know she would appreciate your good wishes!
Nellie is one of the first kitties I became friends with in the Blogosphere. We have shared many, many good times together. She is super special to me and my Mom. I was beyond flattered when she asked ME to be her Cabana Boy on New Year's Eve and make her some "Niptinis", of COURSE I was happy to oblige! Anything for my "Queen Nellie!!"
I make a pretty darned good "Cabana Boy" don't I?
I love Nellie with all of my furry heart, and KNOW that she LOVES me, and that is why when she would cavort with other mancats through the years, I didn't mind. I always knew that she had a special place in her heart for ME....and would always touch base with me. I am so happy when she gave me a meow out to help her out on New Year's Eve.
I LOVE YOU sweet Nellie, hoping with all of my heart that you are feeling better soon!!! Not ready to lose you!
Well, my furiends, that's it from me for today, hoping your "Mew Year's Day for Cats" is a special one! Meow to me below and let me know what YOU are going to do to acknowledge this day.
Love to all!
Cody

Happy #NationalSunglassesDay !!
PROTECT YOUR BABY BLUES, EMERALD GREENS
AND CHOCOLATE BROWNS!!
Hi All It's Cody!! My Mom and I are sunglass freaks as evidenced by my photo above and Mom's classic that has been on our header above for YEARS , but every day millions of humans make the decision to not wear sunglasses
or other ultraviolet (UV)-protective eyewear. This is SUPER risky behavior!
UV radiation is often recognized as the culprit for sunburns
and skin cancer but most people are oblivious to the damaging impact the
wavelengths inflict on our vision. The problem originates with the sun’s
unfiltered ultraviolet (UV) rays. Just as these rays can burn skin cells, they
can also harm unprotected eyes. A full day outside without protection can cause
immediate, temporary issues such as swollen or red eyes and hypersensitivity to
light. Years of cumulative exposure can cause cancer of the eye or eyelid,
accelerate conditions like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
National Sunglasses Day is held annually on June 27. It is
not only an observance but a reminder that our shades are a health necessity
and it is important to wear sunglasses or other UV-protective eyewear every day
to protect long-term eye health.
NOW GO AND PUT ON
YOUR SUNGLASSES!!!
(even "CHEAP" Sunglasses!)
YOUR SUNGLASSES!!!
(even "CHEAP" Sunglasses!)
and enjoy one of Mom's
FAVORITE TUNES!!
