Cuddly Kitten Day and National Puppy Day!!!!

Oh boy oh boy!!! Today is Cuddly Kitten Day AND National Puppy Day!!! In honor of this day I made a couple collages. The first one shows the boys when they were younger:

Roary was about 12 or so weeks old when he came to live with us (maybe a tad older)Roary was the CRAZIEST kitty!!!! He was into ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING and was a perpetual ball of motion! Definitely the most mischievous kitten I had ever known!

Levi was only 9 weeks old when he came to live with us and what a learning experience it has been!! When Dakota joined our family he was 8 months old, there is a  HUGE difference between a 9 week old puppy joining a family and an 8 month old puppy joining a family!!

The housetraining was the most taxing, (knock on wood I think we have gone approximately a month with NO indoor accidents!! YAY! We're on the upswing!!

While Levi can't resist trying to eat "Marshmallow Boy" (I think Roary looks like a toasted marshmallow), I am grateful that they are basically good friends, albeit wild ones!!

The photos above are more recent, (the bottom two were taken today)......Roary is now 9 months old and Levi turned 6 months old last week.

Roary recently (as of YESTERDAY!) discovered the birds on our balcony, he sits for HOURS and doesn't move watching those birdies!!!!!! Levi gets jealous that Roary's attention is elsewhere and has to be the pestering younger brother.

Levi has entered that terrible chewing stage......he wants to chew EVERYTHING in sight!

There were times that I literally broke down crying from thinking that Levi would never be housetrained, and was frustrated about the number of "barricades" I had to construct to keep Roary out of mischief.

Everyone told me to enjoy these days because they go by so fast and they are right. Time IS flying!! While there were many exhausting and trying days, they are less frequent. I wouldn't change anything about these two silly and wild boys.

They have added life, energy, fun, craziness, love and joy to our lives that we are forever thankful for!!!

Happy Cuddly Kitten and National Puppy Day!!

  3. Such wonderful photos, Caren. The boys are full of beans, as young ones should be. Exhausting for you, but also soul-healing too. ♥

  6. Aw, they are both so adorable. When they are young they do wear you out, but they are so worth it.

I linked this post to Happy Tuesday.

Have a woof woof and purrfect day you two. My best to your mom. ♥

  7. I am so glad you actually got to experience all the puppy/kitten craziness!! They make for the best of memories!

The Bird Channel is very mesmerizing...

I love seeing your two fur children together, they are best friends!

Benji is for sure a pesty brofur, too...when Dalton is watching the household goings on, Benji grabs his back leg to invite a tussle. He's almost three and still acts like he's a puppy.

  12. Great post Caren! Before you know it they will stodgy and old like Cinnamon and Kozmo! Poor Nellie thought they were never, ever, going to settle down. Speaking of the dynamic duo, Cinnamon is celebrating her 10th birthday tomorrow and we are having a comment-a-thon for the local rescue group. I love the shots of the 2 of them! Thanks for sharing! Love Barb

  16. Such wonderful photos of the boys.....you had a lot of challenges in the beginning! Taking on TWO youngsters at the same time just had to be a whole lot of work - happy work but still WORK. I'm glad to hear things are settling down and it's obvious the boys are best buddies which is PURRFECT. It was a WIN/WIN for you and Lenny and those precious boys of yours.

    Hugs, Pam

  18. Levi and Roary are so grown up! I know sometimes they must drive you crazy, but you should enjoy these times when they are still young. I miss those days when I brought my cat home (almost 12 years ago!!!) and he would jump, scratch and meow all the time. It was nerve wrecking, but also exciting and adorable :)

  20. Levi and Roary certainly fit the bill for cuddly kitten and puppy day. They are both adorable and the photos show how happy and relaxed they are. I also had a few days of "will our house survive kittens", but at 7 months Wolfie and Tilly have lost a bit of their climb-the-curtains kitten energy.

  23. Oh boy, these two are mere pipsqueaks. Everyone is right- those days do go by way too fast. Dad says it's the same with kids when they're little ones. Anyway, we hope these two provide a lifetime of sweet memories, playfulness and tons and tons of entertainment for you. It's marvelous that they get along so well, and they'll grow to be best buds, wait and see. This is a wonderfully sweet post!

  25. You have certainly been getting some first hand experience of puppies and kittens there! It's true they are so much fun, but they can be frustrating too! I think these two boys are going to grow into wonderful young men bringing nothing but love and joy for you! ♥♥

  26. I never had a dog and most likely won't but I am always amazed when I see a dog and cat so bonded to one another. I shouldn't watch so many dog and cat cartoons!
