A Bunch of Boxes! (Boxing Day 2022)

While neither my Angel Bobo or Angel Cody were ever really that interested in boxes, Roary is OBSESSED! There isn't a box that comes into our home that Roary doesn't investigate. I miss so many photo ops of Roary with boxes because I am just so used to him being all over each and every one of them that I forget to photograph him.

In honor of today being Boxing Day, I am sharing some of the photos that I did take!

HISTORY OF BOXING DAY: "The day after Christmas, Boxing Day is celebrated in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. But let’s clear up something first — Boxing Day is not about pummeling opponents. This unique holiday has its roots in gift-giving on one hand and classism on the other. Here’s what we know about Boxing Day’s origins.Traditionally, the holiday was celebrated by giving to the needy and less fortunate, but over time, Boxing Day has evolved and been commodified in several different ways. Boxing Day is also now a time of year when big sales are offered by shops traditionally after Christmas in the UK – similar to Black Friday in the USA. Sales and revenue are so heavy now in countries that celebrate Boxing Day that now some retailers advertise ‘Boxing Week.’ These worldwide sales feature deals and discounts lasting until the end of the month." You can read more about the history of Boxing Day here.

So, tell me, are your kitties as obsessed with boxes as Roary is?

  1. Roary is so cute in his boxes. Flynn was obsessed with them too and no box was too small. He even tried to get in the tissues box on the bed headboard. He could only get his front legs and shoulders in, but as far as he was concerned he was in!

  2. Happy Boxing Day! We love the pics of Roary, they're purrfect for the day. :-)

Boxing Day sales used to be HUGE here (Canada), and though they still are, retailers have all gone with Black Friday and Cyber Monday now, so Boxing Day/Week doesn't have quite the same impact anymore. People used to line up for it (at Best Buy, etc.) like they do for your Black Friday. LOL.

  3. I hope our comment went through, I can't tell if it did, Caren, or if Blogger "ate" it!

  4. Mum's mum was from Scotland, so she knows about boxing day. However the Scots tended to celebrate New Years more with a celebration called Hogmanay. As a cat boxing day would be more fun, though I am not as obsessed as Roary :)

  5. Roary is so cute exploring all those different boxes. We are only interested in the contents of the boxes that come to our house, mostly because we can't fit into them. BOL!

  6. Nothing wrong with loving boxes. Being obsessed isn't a bad thing.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the boys and a hug to mom. ♥

  7. No one seems to be interested in boxes or wrapping paper this year. I don't know what the deal is. I saved some--maybe today things will change.

  8. Dang Roary, you are a professional level boxer pal, enjoy!

  9. Roary, you are like a Golden Gloves boxer! Happy Boxing Day!
