Pendants for a Cause (Handmade Sea Glass Jewelry, that GIVES BACK!)

For quite some time I have been following the blog of a woman that is special in so many ways. The woman I am speaking about is named Phoebe Chi and her blog is:

Phoebe, MD: Medicine & Poetry

HEALTH | INSPIRATION | LIFE

ABOUT PHOEBE:

"Phoebe Chi, MD, MPH is an internal medicine and public health physician and author whose humanitarian efforts have spanned from the regions of Central America to that of sub-Saharan Africa. She attended college at the University of Texas and subsequently received her medical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and her public health and global health degrees from the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
With a focus on health promotion and disease prevention and management, Dr. Chi has developed comprehensive chronic disease management programs aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of those living with heart and related chronic conditions. She is the author of Being Empowered for a Healthy Heart: A personal guide to taking control of your health while living with chronic conditionsa poetry-infused health guide that has been dubbed the “Chicken Soup for the Body and Soul.”
Phoebe's blog is a complete delight. She posts lovely artwork, poems she has written, she has "blogger meetups" on her blog (where we all go to share links), and her beautiful spirit shines though everything she does. She is one of the most genuine, kind, loving and giving people I have had the pleasure to know. She is a "GEM"!!

Phoebe's latest venture is Pendants for a Cause (the information below is from Phoebe's blog):
"A Physician, a Burden...an Idea"

Pendants for a Cause started in September 2019 from nothing more than a small piece of sea glass and a hope to help another. When news had hit of the devastating impact of Hurricane Dorian on the communities in the Bahamas–of the lack of healthcare facilities and the need for resources and medical aid–my first thought was not to create necklaces. But despite my formal training as a physician, I felt that there was little that I could do to help all those I wanted to help.

So what else did I have that could possibly make a difference?

floofy Samantha
Well. I had sea glass, pliers, and an assortment of wires.
And a floofy cat.

Samantha the ever helpful assistant
And from there...Pendants for a Cause was born.
 THE MISSION IS:

To raise awareness and support for important causes.
All proceeds from Pendants For A Cause will be going to support those with urgent medical needs via two trusted organizations.
They will be to help:
1) Hurricane Dorian victims in the Bahamas via Samaritan’s Purse International Crisis Response, and
2) Children in need of heart surgeries via the Children's Heart Project.

(there will be other causes added as needed)

I had wanted to help the victims of Hurricane Dorian and hadn't done so yet...until...I read Phoebe's
blog post. I was so moved by her mission that I KNEW I had to purchase a necklace.
The photo above is of the Large Green Sea Glass Pendant Necklace/Silver Swirl Wire Wrapped,
that I purchased.
The necklace arrived in the box that is on the right (an extra touch so befitting of Phoebe)
which made it a complete delight to open!
When I opened the box I gasped. The necklace was much larger than I had expected.
It was a nice sturdy weight and is simply GORGEOUS. Just gorgeous!
The craftsmanship is marvelous. The stone is BEAUTIFUL. I could NOT be happier!
I wish my photos did the necklace justice but they do not. It is simply exquisite!
Here is a photo of Samantha wearing a necklace that is similar to mine:

All of Phoebe's necklaces/earrings are affordably priced and who could pass on purchasing an item
that will benefit so many? Samantha is letting everyone know about this important cause
and is hoping you will purchase an item or two (or three) for yourselves!!

Phoebe has generously given a COUPON CODE
FOR ALL OF YOU !
Use the code "PENDANTS20" for  20% off !!
Samantha wants you to buy some jewelry!
(all photos of Samantha were provided by Phoebe)

I am so thankful for Phoebe's mission that I just had to include her cause on
Thankful Thursday. Be sure to visit all of the other blogs who are participating! (I was NOT
required to blog about Pendants for a Cause because I purchased my necklace myself.
It was completely my choice to share about this wonderful mission!)

  1. A wonderful post about dear and talented Dr. Phoebe. We've known her for a long time and only recently did she branch out into the beautiful world of hand-crafted jewelry. I have a necklace from her as well and I LOVE IT. She's now making earrings and who knows what will be next. Excellent quality, beautiful sea glass colors, and most of all the profits from the sales go to worthy causes - that's what Phoebe is all about. She's got the biggest heart ever.

    Hugs, Pam
