Parole Will Soon End for Cat Veterinary Inmate "345"

Hi Kitties, it's Cody and I am here to tell ya,  I just can't get a break!!! It has taken Mom a LONG time to give me computer time so that I could blog about my latest debacle.  A little over a month ago I earned a new nickname, my nickname is now "345."  You also didn't know that I am on parole from "Dr.Smiley" and his evil laboratory. I was put on parole due to good behavior. Kitties, sit back, grab a bowl of kibble,  and let me fill you in on how I got my new nickname and how my "parole" has come to an end.

Mom was working on her computer and heard a THUD. She didn't think much of it because she doesn't think, she wasn't really concerned. Then, she noticed at lunch time I didn't come when called and normally I am the first in line for lunch deliciousness.

Mom looked for me and found me laying against the wall on the floor of her our "office" (which she never uses, but I digress...) I wouldn't respond when she called me and mom freaked, (mom is always freaking, let's just suffice it to say her freaking was complete frenzy).

Dad was downstairs waiting to go to the store with Mom, but Mom called him screaming that I had to be rushed to the Vet.

Long story short, when I arrived at the Vet "Dr.Smiley's Evil Laboratory", "Dr.Smiley" even thought something was wrong with me as evidenced by how I was just laying there in my PTU without moving a muscle.  (I didn't even fuss when Mom and Dad put me in my PTU). I also allowed him to  thoroughly humiliate check me in his office without so much as a tiny meow."Dr.Smiley" could find NOTHING WRONG. That led to the laboratory invasion!

"Dr.Smiley" and his evil assistants checked my butt, they  sucked drew my blood, and strapped me down on their lab table like Frankenstein to take X-Rays.

All of the tests came out great and...$345 later, (hence my new nickname),  it was decreed that there was nothing wrong and my diagnosis was "extreme lethargy" (you can stop laughing anytime now. I am a CAT and of COURSE I suffer from extreme lethargy! Geeze!!  I knew I was fine!!! Mom now thinks I might have startled myself and that the "thud" she had heard might have been me falling off of Mom's desk). When we got home I ran to my food bowl and started chowing down with gusto!!

I was proud of myself because I figured now that they got one of my "wellness" exams out of the way,  I wouldn't have to have my usual exam this October. I thought wrong......while pawing around in Mom's email I saw something that made me hiss gasp.

Kitties!! They "miss me (a lot)", YEAH I BET THEY DO!!! Bet they have had no fresh blood lately and now they are after mine!!

Kitties! I was JUST AT THE VET approximately one month ago! Doesn't that count as an exam? See how it says "please disregard this message if you have already scheduled your appointment"? Well, THIS NEEDED TO BE DISREGARDED!!! My Mom is INSANE and "Dr.Smiley" and his evil laboratory are out for my blood!!!! They said I have to have my annual rabies exam too because a "bat could fly into our home and bite me!!" A BAT FLYING INTO MY HOME ARE YOU SERIOUS??? WHO WORRIES ABOUT BATS OTHER THAN DRACULA?? (and now "Dr.Smiley" and his evil assistants!) I TELL YOU KITTIES THEY ARE AFTER MY BLOOD!!! Mom needed to disregard their email.  But did she? Noooooooooo...........................

My appointment isn't until October 4th (Mom and "Dr.Smiley's Evil Assistant even agreed to have me come in FIVE DAYS EARLY....supposedly due to BATS.....BATS!!!!! Am I the ONLY ONE WITH A BRAIN AROUND HERE????) Kitties can you help me? PLEASE!!!
Love, Cody

FROM "MOM" on September 6, 2018. To everyone who read this post, THANK YOU!! Please know that this was ENTIRELY meant in complete fun!!! We LOVE our Vet (and everyone who works there), and are grateful for how fast they saw Cody when we thought something was wrong. We have been going to DePorre since before Cody and Dakota were ever with us (so maybe 16 or so years?) We have complete trust in them and are blessed to have them caring for our pets. The day that happened to Cody I was terrified, I waited a while to blog about it to be sure he was ok. I am thankful for how thorough "Dr.Smiley" (aka Dr.Lewis) was about running tests and all, and for the extra special care he took to make sure that Cody's legs, etc., were ok. I  completely respect  him and I trust his judgement, we care about him as if he was family! (We also adore a certain Receptionist there who has kitties that reviewed products for us!)  As for the bats, yep, they HAVE gotten into people's homes! That's the truth!!

  1. Cody, Binga has no sympathy - she had to go to the vet TWO days in a row! She has a minor UTI, but wasn't able to give the vet any samples, which they need for the prescription. So she had to go back again with a full bladder. I'd like to say she was not amused, but she purred the second time she went because my human's boyfriend took her.

  2. Oh, Cody (or should I call you 345?), your post really made me laugh! I think my cat also suffers from "extreme lethargy" but you took it to a whole new level! Vets are a necessary evil, I'm afraid. Be strong!

  5. Cody, aka Inmate 345, your humans are nuts. We get your mom's concern and the first vet visit, but we don't see a need for the second! That's just adding insult to injury. We think your humans will win the lottery before a rabid bat gets into your home and attacks you. :-D

    1. I soooooooooooo agree with you! Mom says she has to double check about that rabies shot. She thinks she switched me to a year to year one because the 3 yr one was too powerful, (it is Michigan law that I have to have it though)......but.....I shouldn't need any testing this time! Love, Cody

  7. Bats? BATS??
Well, some humans are batty as a Hatter, it seems to Us!
However, We are in their power (so they think, anyway) and no doubt she will do her best to compensate you with Treats, so - just grin (like our esteemed relative from Cheshire) and bear it (mol).

  8. Oh my 345! You had me really worried. I'm glad Mom and Dad had you checked out ,even though it's not your favorite place. Glad to know you are doing much better now. And as for the next visit...a necessary evil I'm afraid.

    1. We were worried too, that is partly why Mom waited a while for me to blog about it. We wanted to make sure I was really ok before we started joking around. Also, what I didn't mention was when my Mom called the Vet, they were great, they took her an hour earlier than the appointment she made when she called freaking out.....cause we got there an hour early and Mom was terrified. It was really nice of them to do that. We joke about our Vet but please know that we ADORE them!

  9. Oh, Cody, maybe you will be the first member of my Adopt An Anthro--in your case, ANOTHER anthro. Jeez, when I'm lethargic everyone panics, too.
But are you really a Senior Feliine and in the Wellness program? Holy tamale, these guys really don't get it, do they. A kitty deserves a day of zilch every now and then. You were probably contemplating how to get YOUR anthros to THEIR vets to DRAW BLOOD, heh, heh.

    1. Heck yes I will join!!! Yep I am over 11 years old now (will be 12 in April)...in fairness to Mom (and Dad), the day they found me on the floor I wouldn't turn my head to look at them, I didn't want my lunch.......Mom was terrified because she had never seen me laying in that part of her office, ever....I was on the floor by the wall and the desk. Mom totally flipped out. Dad was worried too because when they brought in the PTU I didn't run. Even the Vet said I wasn't responding the way I would normally. We joked about it because thank COD I was (and am) ok!!! As for getting my pawrents to go to THEIR doctor for blood......I think my Mom has to go in October MOL!! Love, Cody

  12. Oh wow Cody.....that was quite a scare you gave your humans but I bet it was FUN too (giggle). Seriously though, I think THAT should count as an exam for sure. You should call yourself and cancel that appointment and rip up that reminder. I have to suffer an indignity too - I have to have a shot EARLIER than it's due all because my parents are going on vacation! I have to have the shot before going to the luxury spa where I'll be staying when they're gone - SO I have to go EARLY to have the shot....not fair I say.....The things we have to suffer through right Cody?

    I'm glad you're OK though.............

  30. Seems to us, all ado about nuffing, right (kidding!) It's best you get checked out.

Now about those emails, dood, best to delete them before the humans see them. Although, those crazy vet emails keep coming when you ignore them (or in our case, delete them).

  31. Mom and the dogs LOVE LOVE LOVE our vet. Tuiren even loves her after being treated for heartworms which is a very painful treatment. Us cats aren't as fun of visiting her, but... we know she loves us and well we will tolerate her and her staff and well we think Chimera might be part dog, cause she LOVES them too. She spent a lot of time with them when she was a kitten. Mommy didn't want to leave Chi Chi by herself so she would drop her off at the vets whenever she had to go somewhere and Youngest wasn't going to be around. She got to ride around in their lab coats.

Anyway it's important to be vaccinated against rabies, other critters besides bats might have them. And while you are pretty safe in your apartment you never know, better safe than sorry Cody.

  48. Wowee, Cody! I was checking the blogs I am so behind in to see if there was something impawrtant to comment on...and I was thinking Oh NO!

This would be a fun post for an April Fools Joke, though it must have been oh so furry scary for your Mom & Dad. You sure are a kitty rascal!

Now I have to go and giggle again, as I think of all of this...and make some of my own plans to make a fool of the pawrents!

Years ago, before she was married to pawppy, there were bats in her apt...and also in her church. (bats in the belfry??MOL!). When Angle Groucho was the only kitty here, we had a bat in our den then too. And there have been rabid bats in our area...we also have had dead birds found here with rabies, and coons...it is not a pretty illness, and best be safe from the ravages it puts on your body. I and Dalton just got stabbed for that...those peeps are forever freaking out about something.
