Passover Starts Tonight At Sunset

FROM CAT CHAT WITH CAREN AND CODY: Since we are off having a "bread fix", we are repeating  portions of a blog post we first did on April 6, 2011. It was posted in it's current form last year.

Hi everyone it's Cody! You know what I like about Passover?  You aren't allowed to eat any bread, now Mom can see what it's like to be on a grain-free diet!! Considering she is the Queen of Carbs, the next 8 days should be "fun" indeed!!

For those who don't know what the holiday Passover is, you can read about it here.

    1. omg this was HILARIOUS!!!! Nope, no bread. I am a crouton ADDICT...Lenny is always making fun of me because one night a while back I wanted a snack to watch TV. I came into the room with a (small, like cereal size) bowl full of croutons. I had put olive oil on top and Parm cheese and nuked it for about a minute. DELICIOUS. Lenny said he never in his life had seen ANYONE eat a bowl of croutons for a snack. Does that give you ANY idea as to just how much I LOVE bread???!! lol!!! We aren't even done with night #1 and already I am wanting bread! Thanks for the Passover wishes! xoxo Oh and no pancakes unless they are potato pancakes or pancakes made out of matzo meal (which I might just look up and see if they are possible to make!)

    1. Nope! No bread! None for 8 days. No grains. No cereal (I think cereal made out of corn is ok). I will be eating matzo which thank goodness I actually like! xoxo

  9. I could do that easy because I don't really care about eating bread but my wife is addicted. She has been on a grain-free diet (with a cheat day here and there) for three weeks now and I am proud of her for sticking with it.

    1. I LOVE good bread! Ok, I don't know if your wife is heavy or just has a little to lose, but doing the "grain-free" thing for people usually doesn't work (long term). My SIL did something similar, lost weight and promptly gained weight back when she was done with the program. Any diet based on deprivation won't work in the long term. I go to Weight Watchers and love it. I can eat whatever I want (if I am accountable for it)......trust me, I have tried everything and that is the only "food plan" that works in the long term. Now, aren't you glad you mentioned that? :)

  13. My mum doesn't eat bread because it gives her bad indigestion. She eats bread rolls on the ship though without any problems. Maybe because they are baked fresh and have no preservatives, who knows. Anyway she considers it her treat when she can eat them.
Happy Passover to all of you.

    1. Oh no I am so sorry!!! Do some bakeries in the UK make bread with no preservatives? Maybe your Mum should try that? Thanks so much dear friends!

  15. How sweet to remember your Jewish friends. I hope the fish is good. Being that I as a "human" am not a big lover of fish I'll eat the bread instead.

  19. Wow, lots of good yummy fish then...MOL!
Have a good holiday and enjoy all the things you *can* have!

(Meowmy hasn't had but a teeny amount of grain and zero bread in almost a year. And avoids sugar like the plague it truly is...when she cheats its like eating syrup...lost 36pounds and dropped from a size 16 to a six or sometimes 8...she follows a modified paleo diet and did the Nutrimost program, which in the end becomes a life style change. She says now she eats to live instead of living to eat, MOL!)

Now she is off to work, no bunny hopping there...is slugging all the way! Weight lifting might be a good term...
