"Faith Is..." a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.

Today is Martin Luther King Day, which  used to fall on his actual birthday (January 15th). It is now a "floating holiday" which is now observed on the third Monday of January, (close to his birthday).

From Wikipedia:King was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the civil rights movement, which successfully protested racial discrimination in federal and state law. The campaign for a federal holiday in King's honor began soon after his assassination in 1968. PresidentRonald Reagan signed the holiday into law in 1983, and it was first observed three years later. At first, some states resisted observing the holiday as such, giving it alternative names or combining it with other holidays. It was officially observed in all 50 states for the first time in 2000.

    1. Nonnie, we didn't go with it voluntarily, (and frankly I didn't know I even had it! Thanks for telling me, that explains A LOT). Blogger/Google went ahead and put it on our blogs (I think you have it too, you probably just don't know it).........I will check my settings again but I think they rigged it so that we cannot change it.

  18. A great quote! Wow - we didn't know that it wasn't until 2000 that all 50 states recognized MLK Day as a holiday. Mom says she can't remember a time that it wasn't a holiday.

  20. Dr. King is my hero. I’m surprised the respect non-Americans have for him while middle America still fears him.
