Can't a cat get any service around here?

Happy Monday! Cody and I hope that everyone had a great weekend!

This past Saturday I had family over for Yom Kippur  (the holiest day of the year for Jews. One of the ways it is observed is by fasting for approx 24 hrs.), then when the holiday ends at sundown, you have guests over to "break the fast."

In Cody's world  not eating for 24 minutes is fasting.

While I was stressing and busy getting ready, as well as fighting a killer headache from not having eaten,  Cody gave me some much needed comic relief. I guess he felt it was time for HIS "fast" to end! His relentless quest for food began here:

And when that didn't work, Cody pulled out all of the stops:

Gotta give him an A+ for persistence!
and for sitting like the
purrfect gentleman!

  2. It is a good thing my human is not Jewish - she gets very ill-tempered if she hasn't eaten all day! Um, kinda like Binga.

  3. Chris does the same thing only he gets on the counter under the cabinet where the kitty treats are and "yells" and me until he gets what he wants. Often this happens before he finishes his breakfast or dinner and I have to tell him "no treats until you finish what's on your plate."

  6. Happy Yom Kippur! Those are some very good manners, Cody. We will sit at the table, but usually it's to steal something when we think we're unobserved.

    1. Shhhh...don't tell, but I did! There was a tray in the kitchen with FISH on it (Mom should have written this) and at one point during the evening her nephew was in the kitchen and said "Um Caren, there is a CAT on the table by the tray" :)

  8. I have enjoyed breaking the Yom Kippur fast with my Jewish friends several times. Besides learn about their customs and enjoying their family, I have gotten to taste many dishes that were foreign to me. More that a few have become favorites in my family. Food, breaking barriers and making friends.

  29. Poor Cody. It might even have been an HOUR since you had some fudz! A boy could STARVE. The Roamin' Catlicks has some fast days, too (though not 24 hours' worth at once!) but the Human knows what little swords I have lurking in my sweet and innocent little pawsies so she'd never *DARE* to involve me in any of her shenanigans. I hope.

    Happy New Year, Friends ;-)

  33. No place setting for you, Cody? Many years ago, some Jewish friends of Mom (we are not Jewish) invited her to a Yom Kippur "break the fast" and she decided to fast also. She knows what those killer headaches are like when you don't eat all day! She really enjoyed the experience.
