Teachers:We Raise Our Paws to You! Thankful Thursday #WorldTeachersDay

Hi my furiends! It's Cody and I am here to tell you that today is World Teachers Day, a most important day. It is a day that aims to "raise awareness of the importance of the role played by teachers all over the world." Teachers should be appreciated EVERY DAY, but sadly, they are not.

Don't know if any of you know, but my Dad is a teacher. Or he was a teacher, wait, he is now a substitute teacher because he is technically retired. When Dad was a full time teacher, he taught for 36 years. 26 of those years were spent teaching middle school in the inner city of Detroit. Dad taught Special Ed.  He barely  missed a day. Dedicated guy my Dad is and was. Makes a kitty proud. I wasn't around for all of those years since I am only 10,  but my Mom told me stories about it so that is how I know. Never doubt what I know. I know a lot you know.

Dad's family is full of teachers! Dad's Mom and sister both were teachers. His niece also is a teacher.

I think the real reason my Dad became a teacher is because he is a dead-ringer for Albert Einstein:

Mom says when she was growing up teachers were held in high esteem. She said that in her house, if the phone rang and it was your teacher on the other end, "God help you." In Mom's house the teacher was revered and respected. Nowadays, if a teacher just looks at a kid the wrong way they are in trouble. They are disrespected and grossly underpaid...professional athletes get millions of dollars.....teachers often have to spend their OWN MONEY for various supplies for their classrooms. They also  have to fight to  get a raise.....something is wrong with this picture.

But there is NOTHING wrong with THIS picture....

Mom wanted me to share with YOU a few of her favorite teachers that she had along the way:

  • Mom's kindergarten teacher who had long blonde hair and blue eyes. Mom said she looked like a "Princess" and she used to help Mom put on her boots. To this day, Mom remembers (and can still sing) two songs she learned in kindergarten.
  • Mom's 5th grade teacher who had a Collie.
  • The countless male teachers and student teachers that Mom had in Junior High and High School who Mom had huge crushes on!
  • Mom's High School English teacher who encouraged her creative writing.
  • Mom's college professors in both Philosophy and Speech (Rhetoric),  who left her enthralled, challenged  and mesmerized.
  • Those are just a few of the teachers who made a huge impression on Mom. She  is grateful for each of them and she will never, ever forget them. Kitties, tell your humans to take some time  and thank the teachers who helped to make them who they are today and while you're at it, leave a comment telling us who YOUR human's favorite teacher was!

Happy World Teachers Day!!!

We are happy to be participating in the  Brian's Home Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

"Purr For A Cure" with Honeycat Cosmetics #Breastcancerawarenessmonth

Disclosure: We were not compensated for this post either monetarily or with product. Because of the importance of breast cancer research we would never accept compensation for this type of a post. Honeycat Cosmetics is donating 20% of their "Purr for the Cure" product sales to support breast cancer research.

October is: "Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), It is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer."

I am willing to venture that virtually every one of you reading this post have dealt with this awful disease, either directly or indirectly. I have family members who are breast cancer survivors and sadly I know others, (such as my mother-in-law whom I adored),  who have succumbed to this evil disease.

I am already a huge fan of Honeycat Cosmetics and recently featured them on our blog.  Sadly, our dear friend Theresa from Honeycat Cosmetics has also witnessed this ugly disease:

From Honeycat: Before starting Honeycat Cosmetics I was very active in Women's Health Care. Unfortunately, too many times I have witnessed first hand the ravages of this disease. Young women, old women and everything in between. I personally had to surrender a cousin and a close childhood friend to breast cancer, but where there is life, there is also hope. It's always too soon to give up. These are some of the reasons that Honeycat considers it an honor and duty to donate 20% of sales of our " Purr For The Cure " items in support of breast cancer research.  Like Daenerys Targaryen we must slay and subdue this dragon that is, breast cancer.

ITEMS AVAILABLE ARE:
