International Cat Day!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY!!!!

Roary and I would like to take a moment to wish our furiends all over the world a most happy International Cat Day!!!

Every morning my boy gets into bed with me, he bumps my nose and says "Good Morning", (he truly does!). He follows me into the bathroom (where BOTH of our litter boxes are) and while this is TMI, he LOVES to use his litter box at the same time I'm using mine. Do I like it, no.....but..hey, whatever makes him happy works for me!!

HAVE A CATABULOUS DAY EVERYONE!!!

National Cat Day 2023

Hi all it's Roary!! I wanted to shout from the top of the cabinet in the bedroom to wish you all a HAPPY NATIONAL CAT DAY!! Ok, I know, EVERYDAY is National Cat Day, but let's just humor the rest of the world by honoring this day anyway.

National Cat Day is celebrated on October 29 every year! It was created by Colleen Paige to bring awareness to the number of cats that need to be rescued each year. In my opinion the number of cats that need to be rescued should be brought to everyone's attention EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR, but they don't listen to me!

As my Mom, Dad (and even Levi would tell you). Life with cats is PURRFECT!!

We are brilliant, fun, playful, cuddly, so soothing to sit with and SOOO much more!!! Truth be told, we are MUCH smarter than woofies! (You already knew that though!)

I am so grateful that I was adopted and wish that some clueless people out there would realize what GREAT additions to the family cats are! Maybe one day they will wise up!

Anyway, HAPPY NATIONAL CAT DAY TO ALL KITTIES EVERYWHERE!!

Love, Roary

Happy 3rd Adoption Day Roary!! #ThankfulThursday

It is so hard to believe that our super intelligent boy who was formerly named "Felix" (a name I think I should have kept based on his personality), is with us THREE years!

Roary is extremely bright, he LOVES to figure things out. He studies everything carefully. He opens cupboards with ease and often will sit and hide in them.

He is a "people" cat. He greets anyone and everyone who enters our home (except for kids). With kids he will keep his distance studying them, and eventually he will approach them as long as he isn't being chased.

The biggest change in Roary this year is that he is FINALLY sitting on my lap!!! It took nearly 3 years but he now will sit with me most evenings.

This came about after his surgery. I believe he noticed how I barely left him during his recovery and we began a nightly ritual called "Brush, brush" where I would brush his fur near his neck when he was wearing the "cone of shame". Roary LOVES being brushed! That tradition has continued and it has been the main way that Roary and I have finally bonded.

Roary is a loving, sweet and patient kitty who puts up with a lot from a certain woofie who also resides here!

HAPPY 3RD ADOPTION DAY "ROARY BOY!!"

We all love you so much and are so happy you are part of our family!

Mom, Dad and Levi

xoxo

Happy International Cat Day 2023!!!

As all of you do, we celebrate cats EVERY DAY but today is a day to celebrate not only our cats that live with us, but cats ALL OVER THE WORLD! It is a day to spread the word about just how pawesome life with cats is!

"Effective since August 3, 2020, the leading cat welfare charity, International Cat Care, became the custodians of International Cat Day. Since 1958, they’ve challenged cruelty, ignorance, and misunderstanding to affect positive change in the lives of cats. With an estimated global population of 600 million cats, half of which are thought to be unowned, their work has never been more important. To learn more about the charity, visit their website."

To all of you who have visited us for oh so many years and to those we recently have met, we think you are PAWESOME and we appreciate and celebrate each and every one of you!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CAT DAY!!

AN UPDATE ON ROARY!

I thought it would be fitting to include an update on Roary and how he has been doing since his bladder stone surgery that took place at the end of May.

He is peeing like a champ and is doing SUPER WELL! (Paws crossed that this continues to be the case!)

He had bloodwork done last week (because his bloodwork at the time of his surgery wasn't that great, the Vet felt it was due to the stones and it turns out it was!) Roary's bloodwork, kidney function, etc. was NORMAL and they also ran a urine test that was NORMAL!! YAY!!

One of the most wonderful outcomes of Roary's surgery is that he and I have FINALLY BONDED!

(It only took THREE YEARS lol!)

I think Roary knew and appreciated that I barely left his side after his surgery......I waited on him hand and paw and we started a new ritual that I think helped us to bond. I started brushing him with the Furminator that used to be Cody's and he LOVES IT! I brushed him when he was wearing the cone to bring him comfort and now it is a daily ritual.

He FINALLY sits with me on the couch, either on my lap or next to me (as you can see in the photo above where he is lying by me wearing my Lions pants.)

If it took the surgery to FINALLY have us finally develop a close bond, then I couldn't be happier!

How to make sure your cat enjoys the apartment life: Guest Post By Carson Sperry

If you are a lifelong friend of the feline race and a proud cat parent currently living in an apartment, you know that your cat needs its space. Your cat doesn’t care if you’re in a 400-square foot studio in San Diego or a massive industrial loft in downtown Detroit. All your cat knows is that it needs space, and it needs to be able to explore, interact with and enjoy its surroundings on its own terms.

So, the question becomes, what can you do to ensure the happiness of your cat in your apartment? The good and bad news is that there is no one single answer for this question. Yes, a silver bullet solution would be great. However, cats, like people, have their own personalities, their own likes and dislikes and their own opinions about what makes an apartment a home.

Some of the most popular methods for making sure your cat loves your apartment as much as you do are as follows:

  • Think Vertically - Cats love to explore their surroundings but they also want to experience their domain from a higher vantage point. Providing your cat with ways to “gain the higher ground”, so to speak, in your apartment will allow it to feel more comfortable and in control at home.
  • Provide Entertainment - Your cat wants to hunt; it wants to play, and it wants to stimulate its natural instincts. Make sure your cat has plenty of toys to play with and be sure to take the time to play with them whenever you have the chance as this is a bonding experience for you and your cat that is second to none.
  • Show Love - Just like people, cats want to feel loved. Yes, even the standoffish ones that are seemingly allergic to humans. The key is to figure out how your cat wants to be loved and meet them halfway.

These suggestions are not the end-all-be-all of proper cat care practices. But they are a good place to start if you think your cat is not enjoying your apartment as much as you are. If you are in the market for a few more tips and tricks to make sure your cat loves your home, check out this article on Rent.com with suggestions from over 20 experts in the feline field.

It's "Late Night with Caren and Cody"!!

Well hi there!! Now that you have been sufficiently frightened seeing MY giant nose and mascara-less eyes, Cody and I just wanted to share our late-night TV ritual!

We sit on the couch (lately Cody has been behind me, he normally sits next to me, and for this photo I had to cut my face off and tilt my phone in order to get Cody in the shot behind me), yep I wear hats inside ALL of the time, and we snuggle up to watch The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, immediately followed by Seth Meyers  (if I can stay awake). On Sunday night I am obsessed with "90 Day Fiance, Before the 90 Days"........(don't judge!! I LOVE mindless TV) and if I am awake enough I will surf Instagram and play some Words With Friends and Song Pop.

Do any of you stay up til the wee hours of the morning? If so, what's YOUR ritual?
