"Fatty" Mama

Hi All! It's Cody! See how I am laying in the photo above? Well, when Mom comes home today that is gonna be HER!! She is gonna have to sleep with her arm hanging out just like my kitty arm/leg above.

You see, Mom's fattiness finally got the better of her! Mom is having outpatient surgery today to remove a fatty lipoma from her shoulder. A fatty lipoma is  a lump under the skin that occurs due to an overgrowth of fat cells.

See? Mom's fattiness finally got the better of her! The doctor said Mom's lipoma is the size of a golf ball!! Wonder if her entire body is one big fatty lipoma? MOL!!

Anyway, Mom is only used to kidney stone pain and has no clue if she is going to be in pain or not after the surgery today. So, if she is slow reading blogs/responding to email etc., that means she isn't feeling that great!

Hope to see you all soon!

Love, Cody

  1. Sending huge POTP to your Mom...and tell her that our unfurbro-the-younger had one of those,a similarly large one, on his shoulderl blade area, removed last summer, he was back at work the next day.

It might be uncomfortable, but somehow I think the kidney stone pain is for sure in a class by itself.

At any rate, you and Dakota will keep her comfy and filled with lots of love, right?? Right!

You and Pam below are totally right about the kidney stone stuff...........I now have new respect for my lithotripsies!!! They are far worse! lol. I was sore the past two days but it was my fault because I refused to take anything for it. Today the pain is almost gone! Woooo hooo!

  4. Hey, now, man! The day after my Momma posted our first post - she felt a lump in my back. It was a lipoma and I had to have surgery to remove it! Because the vet wasn't sure what type of tumor it was when he removed it, he left a wide margin just in case it was malignant. I had a 6-8 inch incision! I got all kinds of extra snuggles and love! Maybe you can give your Mom the same? ~Bear Cat

    1. Oh poor Bear! Hoping you are ok!! You just reminded me, my Angel Bobo had a fatty lipoma once on his tail and had to have surgery for it. He was fine! As for extra snuggles and love, I think you have to be a CAT to get that around here! xoxo

  29. Purrs to the mama. Lipoma is very common isn't it? Our mama has it and so does our papa, but the docs said no need to remove theirs right now.

    1. Yep they are common. My mom's was the size of a golf ball and the surgeon wanted it out because it would continue to grow. My Dad had a huge one once on his neck that also had to come out because it was huge! It depends on how large they are and if they are causing problems.
