International Box Day

From Cat Chat With Caren and Cody: Portions of this post are from June 19, 2015. We figured since we always have some readers who might not have seen something, we would share some of it again. (Cody is now 10, he was 8 yrs old when this post first appeared).

Hi every furry it's Cody!

Today marks only the SECOND time in my almost six years of blogging,  that I am pawticipating in the festivities surrounding a holiday that was created by the pet blogging community, International Box Day. This day was created because to most kitties (and even some woofies), cats and boxes just kind of go together, kinda like catnip and toys, or me and food, capisce?  Take note, I said "MOST" kitties...not EVERY kitty loves boxes....I am one of those kitties.

You see, I am a rather unique kitty in many ways, what most kitties DON'T like, I LOVE, and what most kitties LOVE, I don't like.

Just a few of the things that make me different are :

I am not afraid of the vacuum
I love my vet
I don't mind the car
I willingly take my medicine
I greet strangers in our home, BEFORE my woofie brother, Dakota does
I love to be cuddled
I love to lie on my back
I do NOT lay on laundry AFTER it has been dried.
I do NOT lay on the bed
I could care less about water running from the sink

Normally, I prefer to "think OUTSIDE of the box!" Yes, that's true! I am a kitty that doesn't relish being confined by ANYTHING!

I am eight years young, and this past year was probably the FIRST year that I showed more interest in boxes than any year thus far!

Mom was super excited because that meant that I could now pawticipate in International Box Day,

You know what they say,
"If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em!!!
Happy International Box Day
to all of you NORMAL
kitties and woofies out there!!!

  2. Well, we are very similar, you and I, but boxes leave me cold. Maybe I'll get the box urge someday. Mama wishes I would because it would be a new toy for me and I'm not real interested in toys. Snuggling, YES, and I don't mind the vacuum cleaner. So hello, mate! Love, Loulou

    1. OMC LouLou!!! We are like TWINS!!! I am not super into toys either. Sometimes I am but I am not like how my Grandpa Bobo was. My Grandpa Bobo LOVED toys! Mom says it's cause I blog that I am spoiled. I have tons of toys that I don't play with. Grandpa Bobo had very few toys and played with ALL of them! Love, Cody

  3. I haven't really bonded with boxes yet although I love my tents and kitty cubes....Angel Sammy loved a nice box though - mostly Christmas boxes from presents because they had tissue in them! I'm glad you like boxes too Cody. As for vets, I've only met ours once so far but Angel Sammy said I would LOVE him and all the techs there too so I'm willing to give them a try!

    Love, Teddy

  6. You are indeed a very unique cat Cody! Mr. Cat does like boxes but what he likes even more are bags. Whenever I come home with a shopping bag he can't wait to get inside of it.

  13. Cody, it's quite obvious that your mom's personality has rubbed off on you! She dances to the tune of a different drummer, if you know what I mean, and therefore, you too are a unique and wonderful individual!

    1. Actually, we are quite proud to be that way. We think for ourselves, we do what we want, we are open about what we like and don't like. We aren't "sheep", and we never will be. Thank you...Cody

  17. The kitty-sphere needs kitties like you who don't fit the mold. That's why we're all so interesting. But the vacuum.....really? That thing is so noisy!

    1. THANK YOU!!!! Yep...now don't get me wrong, I don't like the vacuum and will leave if it goes on, but I don't run away terrified, it is more of an annoyance. Love, Cody

  18. Well, that is a pawsome box!
We go in stages. WE like them, then we ignore them.

  19. It's strange that I have as many pictures of Mudpie in boxes as I do because she's not as crazy about them as other cats of mine have been. It seems like I get a new box, she hops in for 5 minutes, and then she's done with it. MOL

  20. Cody, you're definitely a kitty who marches to beat of your own drum and that's what makes you so special. I don't really like boxes either but I give it a try at the lady's urging every year.

You sure look good in a box!

  21. You are very much like my Chris and Frankie except they don't like the vet or medicine and they do like warm laundry.

  22. Unfortunately, there are too many boxes in my house right now for the girls to enjoy.

  31. Bear Cat doesn't "do" boxes. I've tried EVERYTHING. Kitty was so adorable in her box(es) - but Bear wouldn't get into one for love or tasty whole chickens. I didn't make things any better the time I sat in one to show him how and it was just a little too small for my behind. ***MAJOR KITTY TRAUMA***

  32. Angel Minko was the box king here, IPipo jump in one...once in a while... We used to have kitties here that Loved the vacuum...and loved getting vacuumed...go figure! Those 2 kitties also greeted strangers. I check them out from a safe distance but I don't hide.
