We LOVE Our Vet! #ThankAVeterinarian Veterinarian Appreciation Day™

From Cat Chat With Caren and Cody: This post first appeared on June 18th, 2016. Along with today being Father's Day, it is also Veterinarian Appreciation Day! Please enjoy our post from last year!

Hi all it's Cody! Today is a special day!! Today is the day I get to say "Thank You" to my Veterinarian, better known as "Dr.Smiley!"

Yeah, yeah, I know what you are thinking, "How in the world is this guy actually THANKING the Vet for the torture that they put us through?"

A Veterinarian's work is super hard, especially for MY Vet. Above all else, he has to put up with my babbling Mom. I know "Dr.Smiley" is thrilled when my Dad takes Dakota to the Vet and Mom doesn't come, because when I go to the Vet, Mom is there EVERY TIME and NEVER stops talking!

Don't get me wrong my furiends, I don't like being poked and jabbed either, but when I am home and stop to think about it, I know it is all for my own good. Dakota seems to LOVE going to the Vet as evidenced by the photo below (it's an old one, I don't use that carrier anymore, I have a nice new one!).

I guess what Dakota loves about Dr.Smiley is the fact that he is kind, compassionate and caring, I have to admit, I love that about him too. Even if I don't look like I do!

He always gives my Mom good and honest advice.  There are MANY, MANY times that he has gone above and beyond, returning Mom's frantic calls,  even when he was on vacation.

I don't adore going to the Vet the way Dakota does, but I know it is for my own good, so, I want to take a moment and say THANK YOU "Dr.Smiley" WE LOVE YOU!!!

  2. very nice to appreciate the vets! They have to put up with a lot of scratches and bites but do their best to help our pets live the best life possible! My sister's a vet so I hear a lot about how hard it can be!

  8. It's awesome that you love your vet Cody! Unlike you Mr. Cat is very afraid of the vet.

  9. It's so comforting in times of trouble, to have a vet who's kind, knowledgeable, and caring.
Our vet belongs to an all cat practice so there's less stress in the waiting room too. Cody, does living with your brother Dakota help you cope when other dogs are around?

    1. Well, when my Mom adopted me, she found out that there were woofies living at my foster home. My Foster Mom said the only thing I didn't like about the woofies was when I went to the litter box. She warned Mom if we got a dog, the litter box might be a problem. We solved that one. First, Cody lived with us for almost 3 months before we got Dakota. Then, we put up a baby gate so that Dakota would not have access to any of Cody's toys, his litter box and we made sure Cody had a "haven" to escape to in the event they didn't get along. The Foster Mom said Cody got along with the doggies there fine, he just didn't like when they were by the litter box. When he goes to the Vet, he isn't in the waiting area long....then they take him to the part that is "cats only." But...if he sees a dog in the waiting area it doesn't bother him. At home, Cody RULES Dakota :) Oh I loved your comment about Rufus the Red hissing at the vacuum, that is unique and hilarious!! xoox

  10. There used to be a wonderful vet we loved at the office we used to go to...but he stopped seeing clients, only doing surgery. Booo...so we stopped going to that place, and now we go to another great vet. He even fed Angel Minko when we had to stay there if petcretary was out of town...
