ASPCA Announces National Adopt A Shelter Cat Month Contests that YOU can enter! #MyRescueCat #Litter4kitties

As many of you know, June is National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and the ASPCA is encouraging folks to consider adopting one of the 3.4 million cats that enter shelters each year.

Now, in most cases we are preaching to the choir. The vast majority of you who read our blog are deeply entrenched with adoption and rescue yourselves. As bloggers, we feel that it is our responsibility to help raise the awareness of those members of the general public that might not realize just how important it is to adopt!

To help bring attention to cats during this month, the ASPCA is  joining forces with The Animal Planet and Jackson Galaxy to host a social media contest celebrating shelter cats.

YOU  can share your cutest or silliest cat photos using the hashtag #MyRescueCat and signing an adoption pledge. Once you have done that, you will be entered for the chance to have YOUR photo featured on the My Cat From Hell season finale June 13. You and cat lovers everywhere can enter the contest at www.aspca.org/MyRescueCat.

BUT WAIT!!
THERE IS MORE!!

You will also have the chance to help your local shelter this June through the #Litter4kitties contest, where the ASPCA and Freekibble.com will give away 10,000 pounds of Fresh Step cat litter to shelters, with one grand prize shelter receiving 5,000 lbs. and five runners-up receiving 1,000 lbs. each.

to nominate your local shelter!

  2. Oh, one of my favorite topics! I'd also like to rise awareness of adopting adult cats - kittens will always find a new home, but adult/senior cats are often overlooked. Here are some good reasons why adult cats are better than kittens: http://whenthecatisaway.com/should-i-adopt-a-kitten-or-an-adult-cat/

    1. that was a wonderful article and thank you for sharing! Since we have been blogging for nearly 6 yrs we have addressed how important it is to adopt an older cat but we can never hear (or read) that message enough! Thank you for sharing!

  4. That is a great campaign. Even though Eric and I didn't come from a shelter, we would have been unlikely to have survived past 2 years. My mum always wishes she had adopted our other brother and sister at the same time and given them a chance of a long life but felt that 4 tiny kittens would have been too much for Kitty Yumbum to cope with.
