"The Song Is Ended......" In Loving Memory of Lorie A. Huston, DVM

For those who were looking for Part II of our Shelter Cats Are Beautiful series,  that I promised to post today, I have changed the publication date to Wednesday, October 8th. I felt it was inappropriate to post it when I  heard the shocking, heartbreaking and tragic news of the passing of the most beloved Lorie A. Huston, DVM. Lorie was a dedicated Veterinarian, a Certified Veterinary Journalist and President of the Cat Writers' Association.
She was also a treasured friend to many.

Lorie A. Huston, DVM

Lorie never spoke ill of anyone. She loved all of us and all animals with her entire being. In all of my conversations with Lorie she always made me feel valued and always listened as if the words I were saying were the most important she had ever heard. She had a knack for making everyone feel special, when it was SHE who was truly special.

A light went out yesterday at 4:25pm EST that can never be replaced. I just can't process this. Thank you Lorie Huston for your caring ways and the love and knowledge you shared with all of us and the many furry beings your gentle spirit and hands cared for and loved. You will be deeply missed, but always greatly loved. R.I.P.

  1. Lorie was a very special person, and my human was utterly devastated that she is gone. There are so few like her that are so generous and giving - and accomplished! What a rare combo. She left a big hole in the world of felines and humans.

    1. Ingrid I so feel the same. It is just too surreal. I was thinking last night about how she was always a constant presence at every BlogPaws conference I had been to. So sweet, involved,...full of passion. It just isn't right. ((((hugs))))

  18. We did not know her but everything I've read these last two days has pointed in the direction of an amazingly wonderful, kind, very caring and knowledgeable person and friend to so many in the blogging community. We are sad for the loss - this world needs all the kindness and caring it can get.....she certainly seems to have more than accomplished that in her all too short life.

    Hugs, Pam

Also, if anyone wants to get a hold of you, Deb Barnes, me and a number of others, we have the contact info as well. I heard that one cat is going to be adopted by Dolly the Doxie's Mom? Not sure if that has changed. Thank you!!! ((((hugs))))

  33. We're very late in visiting all the beautiful tributes to Lorie. She was such a special person... we didn't know her well, but felt like we did. She was just that way when you met her. She made you feel comfortable and appreciated from the very first hello. She set such a wonderful example for all of us.
    We'll miss you, Lorie.
