BOOK:The Spotted Tail by TT Underfoot

The Spotted Tail is the first book in the The Spotted series. It is a young adult fantasy fiction novel. It is rated E for Everyone.

Action, adventure, flying cubes that take the place of cars, transporting their passengers to shops, restaurants, offices, and their homes, in seconds flat.......this futuristic book will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Oh and cats! Let's not forget the cats! Author TT Underfoot has taken her knowledge of Bengal Cats and  applied it to the cats in The Spotted Tail, making them come to life on the pages!

"Seriously, you do not train Bengals.
  Bengals train you."

FROM SPOTTED TAILS BOOKS:On her twelfth birthday, her grandma gives her an exotic spotted cat named Tache.  As soon as their eyes meet, Paxine finds she can see and hear through Tache’s eyes and ears.  She thinks Tache is special, but her grandma says it’s the other way around.  Paxine is the one who is special.  She can talk to cats and cats can talk to her.  However, Paxine thinks her grandma is a little special, too.  How many grandmas teach you how to read lips in order to eavesdrop?

Her dad thinks Tache is trouble and isn’t happy about a curious cat compromising his security.   But how do you blame a kitten for intruders in the house?  Or Explosives?  And poison?
Paxine is discovering everyone seems to have a secret; secrets that need to stay secret.  There is her great Uncle Garon who is a master gadget maker, who seems to think it’s best to have a weapon that isn’t a weapon.  Her grandma is the director of an organization within which cats are Tail Guards, who protect the special people who can understand them.

Paxine finds herself relying more and more on Tache as the security of her parents crumbles around her.  Even her grandma seems to be having security issues.  And why is everyone worried about the approaching Charity Gala Ball?  Aren’t parties supposed to be fun?  What is this Child Protection Act that is upsetting her grandma?  Is it coincidence that Paxine’s dad can’t seem to protect his own daughter?  Or is someone making it appear that way?

Can Tache, her Tail, keep protecting her in the adult world of politics and murder?  He is just a kitten after all.  Isn’t he?

Author TT Underfoot lives in a small town in North Eastern Wisconsin. However, TT has extensive knowledge in the world of computers, has traveled world-wide, and runs a cattery raising Bengals (www.underfootbengals.com). All of the Tails(Bengals) represented in the books, reflect real Bengals and their behaviors. TT often sits with a Bengal in the lap (often Tache, himself), listening to his or her stories (often exaggerated), and writing them down.

THE MEANING OF A "TAIL"
What is a "Tail?" We call our cats, "cats" but in The Spotted Tail, your cat is a "Tail." Your "tail" Garon tells Paxine;  "cats have always been Tails. It's not the Tail that is special, like you think Tache is special. The person they protect is special. It takes a special person to understand a Tail. To everyone who sees him, he's a cat. However, you don't see a cat. You see a friend, a companion. You can talk to him. He talks to you. You understand each other. You are part of each other."

"It's unfortunate that our Tails live such shorter lives than we do."

An action-packed book set in the future that features Bengal Cats as the magical beings that they are, blessed with fictional "super powers" and genetic traits based on fact, it doesn't get much better than The Spotted Tail.

FROM THE AUTHOR: All cats depicted in this book are real. If you see yourself in this book, then you know me, otherwise I made you up.

  17. It sounds like a neat book.

When I was young, I read every horse story I could get my hands on, would borrow the same ones from the library over and over. (Limited selection in an isolated community in Quebec 40 years ago!) I also had many of my own, though little by little they've gone, been donated. I have only one series of horse stories left, read them in my early teens and can't yet give them up.

So perhaps some young person will feel the same about some of the books you feature here!

    1. Awww love that sentiment! Have to tell you, I think this book is great for adults too. Some of it I felt was waaay above me, (I have a harder time concentrating on sci-fi, futuristic books, so I had to really focus to keep up with all of the details!) But, that could just be my frazzled mine. It was an excellent book though, I think teens and older would love it!
