I'm not "Springing" Anywhere!

This post first appeared on Monday, March 14, 2011. Since most of you weren't reading our blog then, I thought since MANY of the sentiments I expressed are still valid, it was worth sharing this again! Enjoy!!

I'm tired.

I'm feeling out-of-sorts, cranky and off schedule (yep even being unemployed I DO have a schedule thank you very much!).

I'm TIRED!

I can't concentrate.

I'm T-I-R-E-D!!

Many of us in the U.S. follow Daylight Savings Time. It was bad enough when the clocks were turned ahead an hour the last week of April,  now the dreaded "spring-ahead-an-hour-and-want-to-scream-at-everyone-around-you-because-you-are-TIRED-event" (for me at least), takes place the second week of March. Couldn't "they" (whoever "they" ARE, leave well enough alone?)

While much of the rest of the country  are  preparing to tip-toe through their Spring tulips and are giggling at the prospect of longer days to come, those of us like myself who already don't get enough sleep, (I am often up til the wee hours of the morning and then I  awaken between 5 and 6am) are seething.

I'm tired.

need my sleep.

Ironically while I am sitting here at 12:20am, which to me is 11:20pm..(mentally changing the time when I look at the clock is a little game I will be playing for at least the next week), all I can hear is the tick, tick, tick of the wall clock in front of me...it's ticking beginning to sound like "Ha...ha...ha... I... got.... you".

I'm TIRED!!

Don't mess with my clock, my routine, my internal alarm, don't mess with my sleep-deprived self!

You are probably asking "what in the heck does ANY of this have to do with cats? Isn't this a CAT BLOG for Pete's sake?"

Don't mess with me.

I told you... I'm TIRED!

I'm feeling out-of-sorts, cranky and off schedule.

"Cats don't like change
 without their consent."

Roger Caras

For the record....neither do I!

Now, if you'll kindly excuse me, I am going to bed. It's 1:15am or 12:15am or whatever it is and I'm TIRED!

  2. We love it in the fall...an extra hour of nap time and all.

  4. My human usually has an okay time with Daylight Savings Time, but this time was a little rough for her. But a nap late in the afternoon seems to have put her on the right track - she was helping me scope out an intruder kitty a little while ago! Well, her idea of helping was to pick me up and annoy me, but whatever.

  11. This time change thing is really throwing us for a loop! Kids waking up too late, pig and cats ready to eat as always at the first footstep and me trying to rub my eyes awake. We feel you!

  12. We are sorry you are not enjoying this time change! Mom doesn't get home in the evenings until 7:30 usually, so she is loving it - it's still light outside when she gets home from work! Hope your schedule adjusts soon!

    1. Ohhh I love that Speedy!!!! He's my kind guy!!! You and Amy should contact brands of products that you use for your rabbit (and her for her guinea pig), it is always best to start approaching brands that you ALREADY BUY!!! Plus, it would be GREAT to have them represented at the conference! I soooooooooo hope you both can make it! Would be great to meet you! xoxo

  19. I've been researching which state does not do daylight savings time, I think its Arizona? Next question, could I stand the weather there? Then I think of moving seven cats, and what would happen to the feral cats outside I feed? Hmmmmm, dang daylight savings time! I just cannot win!

    1. Yep! Arizona doesn't and I think Hawaii doesn't either. Why don't we all move to Hawaii? lol. I couldn't stand to live in Arizona, too hot! In Hawaii, different islands have different temps and on many of them it never even reaches 90! Lol, just read the rest of your comment! you are too funny! ((((hugs)))) back!

I enjoy what we call here "heure d'été". And I'm sure that Hisia will enjoy it to. She has to be inside at nightfall.

  23. Well, LP is dragging her heels and looks like she is sleep walking these days but then again she is old...she'll probably never "bouce" back now. Ever again. She'll just be perpetually tired forevermore!!

P.S. We do not contribute to her fatigue. Of course!

  24. I agree! I never go to bed before 1.30 and don't like mornings at the best of times. In 2 weeks time when our clocks change, I will be joining America in looking like a zombie in the mornings.
I am glad you are enjoying my photo blog. Did you see the Split and Dubrovnik postswhich I also published in the last week or so? I have now got to the end of 2012 so can get on with 2013 now. Who knows, I may even get up to date by Christmas!!

  26. I know what you mean. Even though I can't work, I still have my schedule too, it's frustrating how that one hour can throw everything off. I've felt cranky every day so far since setting the clock ahead Saturday.

  28. The Human HATES DST. HATES it. Did I say, HATES it? Well, yes she does. Just when spring had almost sprung, and it was starting to be, you know, LIGHT at 6:20 when she leaves for work, here it comes, and now 6:20 looks like the middle of the freaking NIGHT again. Sigh.
