"Stuff" on Sunday

Well, Mom dropped the ball again. She didn't find out until late yesterday when she was reading a number of blogs that she follows,  that yesterday was:

BLACK CAT APPRECIATION DAY
We hope that all of the horrible myths about Black Cats will vanish, once and for all!

For those that may not know, it was also International Homeless Animals Day and Mom DID help Dakota blog about that.

Mom and I just wanted to let you know that if we aren't around much for the next two weeks or so, we aren't being rude, there is just stuff going on.

Last October when Mom leased her new car, she misjudged how far she had to reach from inside the car while closing the door, and did something to her arm. It took her until APRIL to tell the doctor and at that time the doctor thought all was ok. Well, we aren't sure. Mom has A LOT of pain that travels to her shoulder. She can barely put a jacket on and some other things that are unmentionables, because of the pain.( If you are in the immediate vicinity of Mom, watch out, we don't want any "swinging objects" hitting you in the face MOL!) The pain comes and goes and when it is bad, it's BAD! Mom went back to the doctor the week before last and the doctor said Mom has a "frozen shoulder." (Which is not a surprise to Dad, he says Mom has been giving him the "cold shoulder" for quite some time now, but I digress). The doctor is sending Mom for  X-Rays on Monday and then she will be starting therapy next week (2 or 3 times a week for a month). Hopefully that will solve the problem, if not, Mom has to see an Orthopedist and she isn't thrilled!

Also....this week Mom is going to BarkWorld for the first time!

She is excited because it is thanks to Rachael Ray's Nutrish dog food that she gets to go (you can read about it on Dakota's blog on Monday) Not to worry kitties, Mom hasn't gone completely to the "dog side", she is going to be attending some events/sessions for kitties at BarkWorld too! Getting me, Dakota, Dad and two blogs ready for her departure has her pretty busy right now!

Mom is doing her utmost to visit everyone and catch up on emails, but in the event she isn't around as much as usual, she is doing her best!

In the meantime, have an "Easy" Sunday and enjoy this shot of my toesies!

Love, Cody

  5. Oooh, so sorry about Mom's shoulder. Last year in March/April, Mom had a pinched nerve in her neck that made her shoulder and arm hurt - it is all kindof connected with the nerves. 10 years ago she had a frozen shoulder - she KNOWS, reaching behind her was the worst. She needed to clasp her bra in front and then rotate it around. It took a LONG time, more than a month, but it DID come right. We hope there isn't anything more going on in that shoulder and it will come right with the PT.

    1. Simba thanks so much! You sooooooooooo "get it!" Mom has even put the bra in her teeth to try and grab one side! MOL!!! What a visual, eh? Yep, Mom read online that this takes a super long time to heal. As you know, if doesn't hurt every minute but when it does, it's BAD! Sleeping is hard depending on how Mom lays in bed. Thanks so much for your kind thoughts! xoxo

Have fun at Barkworld! Seeing how many cat bloggers are attending, our head peep is sad that she chose not to go. Maybe they need a more animal-neutral name.

    1. thanks so much guys! Actually I think hardly any cat bloggers are going, not nearly as many as BlogPaws. Don't tell but I agree with you, they DO "need a more animal-neutral name" especially if they want Cat bloggers to attend. I have thought that all along.

  17. Cody, we're sorry your mom's been having such a rough time with her shoulder. Purrs from us that the physical therapy does the trick. Make sure she does all the exercises they presumably will give her, every day, otherwise going to PT is pointless. (And we're making an assumption you meant PT.)

We sure hope she has a good time at BarkWorld in spite of the pain.

  22. My human can't wait to see your human at Barkworld, Cody! (At least at the cat events! ;-) Seriously, it sounds like there will be lots of great sessions.) It's her first time too!

My human hurt her shoulder a couple of years ago and she couldn't wear half her tops for, like, a year (she does not have many shirts that button in the front)! It does take time to get better - but you can't rush it, otherwise it might get hurt again. So be patient and do everything the doctors and PT tell you to do, even the hurty stuff.

Once the Human had sumfing called "calcific tendonitis" in her left shoulder and it HURTED soooooo bad. She finally had a cortisone shot and some physical therapy and it did get better after a while. Now she never has trouble with it. She does remember how hard it was to get dressed! We wish your mom the BEST.

  31. Tell your mom to rest up and get well soon Cody! I also just have to say that this sounds almost exactly like what happened to my mom recently. The doctors told her she had frozen shoulder and/or tendonitis too. They took x-rays and found some calcifications in her shoulder. She had some steroid shots and stuff, but nothing the doctor gave was really working. One day the pain became so extemely severe and it was hard for her to get dressed too. Her doctor wouldn't refer her to anyone else (her doctor sounds not so great, but w/e). Anyways, one day the pain went away and it hasn't been back since. I read that when the calcifications are absorbed by the body, it can be very painful.
