A GentleWOMAN AND A Scholar! "Wordy" Wednesday

Many of you will recall that a few weeks back, my baseball team, The Detroit Tigers, was competing in the World Series with the San Francisco Giants, which happens to be the baseball team of my buddy:

Click here to visit Spitty's blog
Spitty's human and my Mom made a bet. The loser had to buy the winner a special surprise that was tied to their "home" city.

Much to our dismay and embarrassment, the Tigers were swept like yesterday's litter and the San Francisco Giants won the World Series. Thanks to Spitty's Mom for forcing us to relive the debacle by blogging about it...AGAIN MOL.

In an attempt to not be a sore loser, which we all know that Mom really IS, Mom sent Spitty's human a delectable treat from one of Detroit's finest, Sanders Fine Chocolates!  Mom sent the :

TOPPING AND TORTIE GIFT BAG

Oh and noooo...the gift bag didn't contain a "Tortie" in the sense that WE kitties know "TORTIES"! There was NO cat in the bag! Mom sent the peanut, chocolate and caramel delight that we all know and love, along with a jar of Sanders famous Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge!

Mom and I were thrilled that Spitty's human enjoyed her treats! Mom thought it was all over and done with when...what did Mom receive today? Let me show you!

A beautifully wrapped package arrived!
From San Francisco!
Mom wondered
what in the world it could be!

Spitty's human  wrote
a most thoughtful note!!
Then Mom opened the package:

Spitty's human had sent the most WONDERFUL magnets that feature the art of Richard Diebenkorn, who grew up in San Francisco. Mom also received a gorgeous set of postcards that feature the artists Matisse and Picasso! They are from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Click here to read about the museum.

Mom was incredibly touched by the thoughtfulness of  Spitty's human, but she was also a tad embarrassed. To represent Detroit, Mom sends calorie-laden treats, well Detroit IS one of the fattest cities in the country, now we know why and Spitty's human sends culture, sophistication and intellect to represent San Franciso...all wrapped beautifully in a box!

Spitty's human said it was "one of her favorite spots."

Hmmm...I think there is a deeper message here. Spitty's human is the epitome of culture, class, brains and sophistication and she portrayed San Francisco as such.

My Mom chooses a gift to represent Detroit that is chocolate-caramel-and -nut-laden.  Mom's gift infers that  she  spends her days sitting on her fat-behind trolling the Internet while shoving bon-bons down her throat, while Spitty's human is soaking up art and culture. Mom chooses a gift that says that HER "favorite spot" is a friggin CANDY SHOP!!   If her gift is a representation of Detroit, NO WONDER WE LOST!

THANK YOU SPITTY'S HUMAN!!

YOU WIN YET AGAIN!

Love, Cody

  3. Cody, can you please tell your human that she totally overthinks things? Both gifts were awesome, and in fact, your human's gift to Spitty's human made my human hungry! Now she is probably going to go on a chocolate hunt tomorrow.

  17. Hehehe... So, your mom's favourite place is a candy shop? Never fear, my friend. My peep is all-too familiar with the candy, too. Whereas I may have a 'slight' addiction to the nip, she's addicted to chocolate for sure! But my peep takes this addiction of hers one step further. She makes candy! That's right? You've heard of her butterscotch? Well, she makes that every couple of weeks and since Christmas will soon be here, my kitchen will be filled with the sweet smells of caramels and marzipan peaches and hazelnut-chocolate cups and more butterscotch and who knows what else. Purrsonally, I'd rather have the nip! purrs

    1. Hi Nerissa...actually no........it's the LIQUOR STORE...kidding! Mom can't drink cause of the kidney stones or the liquor store would be it! MOL! Actually Mom never goes to candy stores...seriously....that's the magic of "literary license" :)
Technically Mom isn't allowed chocolate either (or nuts)...they cause HUGE problems with her kidney stones.
Mom LOVES butterscotch and ADORES marzipan!! OMG Mom's mouth is watering!
You take the nip...Mom is dying over that marzipan!!

We look forward to the Yankees beating the Tigers someday so WE can get some of the goodness. BTW, Pop had a bet with someone in his office who hails from Detroit and he stood to get some chocolate from Detroit if NYY had won. MOL!

    1. OMG that's right! I remember reading about that zillion pound bunny!!! MOL! I loved that! Ohhh you know that the Yankees will beat the Tigers MANY TIMES!
Too funny about the guy from Detroit! Love it!

  32. Ha ha ha! This was the best laugh we had all day!!! First of all, the Human spends a lot more time eating chocolate than she spends looking at art--"roly-poly" would be the POLITE way to describe her, ha ha ha. Those Torties--gone, baby, gone! The chocolate sauce? On it's way to gone! Second of all, we do feel kinda bad Cody got nuffing out of this deal. Well, who knows? Santa still has time, right???

Oh, and here's another funny fact: The Human ordered this online and filled out the little electronic message box, but it was someone in the museum shop who actually transcribed it onto the little card. The Human did a double-take because the writing isn't so far off her own and she thought--"Wait...did I actually go there and write that???"

This betting stuff was really fun! Maybe there'll be a Super Bowl match-up???

    1. Spitty! Here you are! Mom is apologizing cause it is taking her forever to moderate comments so that is why she didn't see yours!

Mom is sooooo happy she made you laugh!! MOL!!
You even have a little chocolate sauce left? Mom would have INHALED THAT!
Noooo Mom said not to worry about ME at all! Your human won the bet and I have more than enough stuff that I don't play with!! MOL!! It was your HUMAN who won! Not ME!

Mom loved your story about writing out the card! Wow! That woman did a nice job!

Mom says YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS about the Super Bowl but wait...there isn't a chance in Hell that the Lions will get there! MOL!

  34. Caren, for the record, I prefer your gift. I wouldn't have gotten much use for the postcards, but the chocolate is yummy! I just discovered Sander's here in Orlando at one of the gourmet stores. Their sea salt caramel chocolate was yummy!

  35. You two sound as about as into your sports as Denverites are here, MOL. Mama doesn't get into the sports thing too much, but she follows the Colts - her home state team instead of the Broncos - where we lives now.

Our mama loves chocolate and thinks your present sounds delicious! They is both very lovely gifts :)
