‘LEASE TO ADOPT’ YOUR VERY OWN CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED CAT

FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY
FROM MICHIGAN HUMANE SOCIETY

Food, cat litter and veterinary care will be provided by MHS at no cost to lessees

It may be the dog days of summer, but the MichiganHumane Society (MHS) is bursting at the seams with felines – cats and kittens ready for you to drive them home today! In order to get them out of our showrooms and into good homes, for a limited time only, MHS is offering our best deal ever. Starting this Saturday, July 7 and running for a limited time, every MHS cat or kitten is eligible for our “Lease to Adopt” program. Lessees can take home an MHS Certified Pre-Owned Cat for up to four months, and if they are not completely convinced they have found their new best friend, they can return the cat to MHS which will in turn find the feline a new home.

Best of all, lessees don’t have to pay a single cent for many of the maintenance costs that come with taking home an MHS Certified Pre-Owned Cat. Compliments of Purina and MHS, the Free Maintenance Package provides lessees with cat food and litter at no additional cost to them for the duration of the lease. The lease package also includes standard microchipping, sterilization and any necessary vaccinations, as well as any additional required veterinary care at no cost (up to $750).

“These ‘better than new’ companions offer the best in unconditional love and come loaded with tons of amazing features,” said Michael Robbins, MHS Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “We know that when you take home one of our cat or kitten models, you’re going to be impressed. But we can offer this amazing deal for a limited time only, so head down to one of the MHS showrooms to find your new best friend today!”

MHS’ Certified Pre-Owned Cats come with adorable features, the latest technology and include many makes and models. Best of all, they’re available for just one low payment of $40 or $65, with 0 percent financing. Under the Lease to Adopt program, if the cat is not working out for whatever reason, lessees can bring them back to MHS for the duration of the lease and receive a full refund of the adoption price. If the lessee wants to adopt their new friend, they can simply keep them past the lease dates.

Leasing terms are applicable to cats adopted during the promotional period beginning July 7 from all MHS adoption centers and off-site adoption locations. All leases will end on November 17, 2012.

You can meet your very own Certified Pre-Owned Cat at the following MHS locations between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays:

MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care: 7401 Chrysler Drive in Detroit – (313) 872-3400
MHS Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care: 3600 W. Auburn Road in Rochester Hills –
 (248) 852-7420
MHS Berman Center for Animal Care: 900 N. Newburgh Road in Westland – (734) 721-4195

In addition, MHS Certified Pre-Owned Cats can be adopted from any one of six PetSmart locations: in Chesterfield, Dearborn, Rochester Hills, Roseville, Taylor and West Bloomfield; and at Petco in Sterling Heights. For hours, location details or any additional information on the Lease to Adopt program, please visit www.michiganhumane.org or call 1-866-MHUMANE.

  1. Great idea. A return policy sounds quite funny, lease to adopt sounds wonderful. They have return policies here

...we can't help but giggle a little at the "Certified Pre-Owned..." Sounds a little like a Lexus commercial. ; )

  6. The Michigan Humane Society gets HUGE kudos for their creativity in this "lease" idea! How wonderful and it's well beyond a "good deal" all way round. Once those cats are in those homes on a "temporary" basis for the term of the lease, who could possibly resist not making it a permanent arrangement?! It's a real win/win in every sense. BRAVO MHS!

@onespoiledcat I could NOT have said that better! You are exactly right!!! xoxoxo

@Molly thank you and you too!

    @Cat from Sydney lol!!

@SquirrelQueen I couldn't agree more about it being brilliant! Hope lots of kitties are adopted!

@Katie and Glogirly I know lol!!! That is what makes it so darned cute and clever. I am praying it works! xoxoxo

@Benny & Lily a return policy is a good idea. That way people don't keep something that possibly might not work out and they don't have to worry about being penalized. Odds are they would never utilize the return policy, I would hope!

  16. We LOVE this idea! Can we share it with our shelter? We've been very worried because they want to offer "fee waived" adoptions this summer for all adult cats, and studies by ASPCA show return rates double when that occurs. Plus, if you can't afford the adoption fee (a reasonably low one-time cost) then you *really* can't afford the monthly costs in food, litter, vet bills, it takes to own a cat!!

@Abby we are quite impressed with their "forward thinking" too...they have implemented new things this year and I think it is great! xoxoxo

@Rykers I don't see why you can't share it! If your shelter wants contact names feel free to email me at cgittleman at mi dot rr dot com

  23. Wow, that's really amazing! This program is such an innovative idea and I bet a lot of felines will find great forever homes because of it. Maybe more shelters around the country will implement similar programs to help even more felines find forever homes. Every precious kitty deserves to have a great and loving home! :)
