Warning!!! Cover Your Butt!!!

Whoa my kitty friends!! They got me good today I'll tell ya.

I knew something was up when my Mom put on regular clothes before 7am and I saw her bring the blue kitty carrier out of the bedroom.
I know something is going on here

She was speaking in a voice a zillion decibels lower than her usual loud voice and she kept saying to my Dad "Shhhh, act normal....I don't want Cody to be upset" "Upset???" about WHAT??

I was minding my own business and then she unceremoniously scooped me up and shoved (yes SHOVED) me into the blue kitty carrier (call the animal abuse hotline please we will allow no shoving!)

Where did I end up? You got it...at "Dr. Smiley's House" the "V-E-T!!" You see my itchies had come back and I had lumps and bumps under my chin and little bumps on my head and my Mom starting spazzing that there was something seriously wrong with me. (Moms are complete alarmists ya know?)

My Mom said I was a really good boy at the vet (I always am). "Dr.Smiley" listened to my heart, checked the furs on my chinny-chin-chin and poked and prodded and I didn't mind. I even turned to look at him when he held me. He really IS a nice guy (sort of). They weighed me (and he even blew by the fact that I am still slightly over 12 lbs and I should be less and he gave me a manicure)

I sighed with relief when he put me back in the carrier....and I hid my head in the corner cause I had had enough.

Then...after talking to my Mom about my allergies and about medicine and a shot (A SHOT???) It happened..."Dr.Smiley" picked up the carrier and took me into his evil little lab where strange things happen. When he returned me to my Mom he entered the room laughing. (laughing!! the complete NERVE of him!)

Mom: "Why are you laughing?"

"Dr.Smiley": "well, we didn't want to traumatize Cody anymore today, but we had to give him the shot that you agreed to. We were going to take him out of the carrier and decided not to when we saw that his butt was right there!!! Soooo we gave him the shot in the butt with him in the carrier!! He never even budged!!!"

"Never even budged????" I was overcome with the indignity of it all, "Dr.Smiley"...I'll give YOU "never even budged!!"

Moral Of the Story?

COVER YOUR BUTT!!!!!

PS:I am fine! I just have feline dermatitis or whatever you call it. I still have to eat my rabbit food, the shot was an antibiotic to prevent an infection and I have to take Prednisone  for almost a month. Maybe it will all help my itchies?

  1. This is very good advice! We will try to remember to stare at the v-e-t and not turn our back to him.
We are very glad you are all right, tho!

  3. Cody is too funny. Perhaps he should be a stand up catmedain. Hope his allergies clear up soon. I know all about allergies. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to cats. =(

    Come on by my blog!

@Scrappy Grams yeah...it sure is! Like Rosanne Rosanna Danna says "it's always something!"

@Cathy Kennedy naw...I couldn't do stand-up, I would want to sit and lick myself lol. Ohhhh noooo you are allergic to cats? Not allowed!! My Mom said we will be over to visit in a bit! :)

@Linda B. thank you!! Yeah I know..but she just sneaks these "V-E-T" trips up on me!

  6. I'm so glad it turned out to be nothing serious. Poor Cody - sneak attack from the rear!

    ReplyDelete
  7. OUCH! Oh, that was sneaky, a shot in the butt. Huh.

We're glad you're okay, but gees, your humans had better be showering you with Temptations (or your preferred treat) for that ordeal!

  8. @Ingrid you beat me to it! I was just going to email you. Yes after I contacted you I noticed a number of bumps under Cody's chin (rather large, larger than typical feline acne) and that actually made me feel much, much better because then I was fairly certain it was his allergies. Thanks sooooo much!!!!! I view you as the "pet authority!!"
    xoxoxo

@Kea yep it sure was sneaky! MOL. Nope, that is another bummer...I am not allowed to eat anything but Royal Canin rabbit! :(

  9. My mommy has to take ME there too for itchies! I get a shot of something..that he doesn't like to give me and tries to get by with half a shot instead of a full one. I have to be in total misery to get a full shot. Not just misery.
I have feline acne on my chinny chin chin v=but after the shot, it goes away..sometimes for several months.
I have not had a shot with my back turned but I bet that's NEXT!!!

We hope your butt feels better soon!

  11. Pawrents sure can be sneaky and they say it's for our good and it'll be OK. The furry idea of being laughed at too. I hope Mom gave you special treats.

  12. The indignity of it all. We feel your pain, Cody. But hopefully this will make the itches go away.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh yes, never give them easy access to places for the shots! Going to da vet is no fun, but I sure hope it helps your itchies!

  14. Oh Cody… what a morning… You poor guy! But, know you are not alone and you are right..Moms are complete alarmists – but that is how we keep you guys well. Hopefully you will get a little extra nip today to make up for your troubles…. Caren, Marc & I whisper before we take Alex to the vet too!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh, wow! The nerve of Dr. Smiley shooting you in the butt. Now that was a dirty trick, huh? Sure hope after all that your itchies go away and you won't have to go back to see Dr. Smiley. Hugs and nose kisses

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Mumsy, etc yeah "the nerve!!!" lol. I hope the itchies go away too! Love, Cody

@Hilary ohhh my Mom just emailed you so ignore the part about checking here to see what happened at the vet! Yes my Mom gave me a new nip pillow! They had tons at the vet that someone makes and they are free! She got me a blue one! I told my Mom that you and Marc whisper too and she is laughing!! xoxo

@Canidae next time I will turn the other way! I hope my itchies go away too! Thank you!

@The Whiskeratti, I hope so too! Thank you!!

@Kassey, nope no special treats for me :( Can't have them cause of my allergies...but....I did get a new catnip pillow! Yay!! :)

@The Paw Relations, I hope my butt feels better soon too or I will have to stand all day! lol

@Admiral, oh no!! You get shots for your itchies too??? Oh no!!! We are hoping they clear up too after the meds so that we don't have to get any shots for a while or any antibiotic. He gave me lots of medicine to take home. My itchies were very bad :( Thanks for sharing your story with me Admiral, I feel better now! xoxo

  17. At the vet, NO part of you is safe!!!

  18. I used to paint the tail up/moons on my kitties. Actually, I probably still will now and then just to be funny. Someone bought one of my cat pieces once just for that very bold and hopefully humorous fact. P.S. I gave you a shout out on my blog!

    ReplyDelete
  19. OMC - N is laughing her head off here, and I'm feeling sorry for you Cody. At least one of us in dis family sees your misery! Dis article is of particular interest cuz my sisfur's kitty (Keiko) loses little patches of skin about this time of the year. They not sure if it's allergies, or what. She due for her annual vet visit real soon. M has told her it could be allergies.

  20. Oh Cody! what a wuss puss, when Dr Smiley only wanted to do good things - well sort of :P But you do make me laugh x

  25. Several of us have itchies too - our vet tells mom to vacumn every day, be vigilant on the flea treatment and give us Capstar too. It works! When she slips up the itches come back.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cody, you look so defeated in your first picture. How dare Mom take you to the vet! It does sound like you were a good boy though. sorry about the shot! My mom said she wishes I was as good at the vet as you are!

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Sparkle, BOY is THAT ever the TRUTH!! xoxo

@Cats of Wildcat Woods, I think that is great advice your vet gave you. We are taking out our carpeting within the month (we are doing a lot of new things here) and putting in Pergo. I am hoping that will help Cody. What is Capstar?

@Mr Puddy "temptation butt" lmao!! I love it! xoxo

@Stacy and Ellie, yeah I am gonna be 4 years old soon...shouldn't that put me in my 20s???? xoxo

@Oskar lmao about the thermometer!!! xoxo

@Old Kitty I am sooo happy that you had a good laugh! (Charlie too!!) You are always sooo sweet to me! No treats for me cause of my kitty allergies! :(
    xoxo

@Carolyn "Wuss Puss???" lmao! I am NOT! I am a brave kitty!!! I never complain at the vet..ever! I just didn't like the sneak attack on my butt!! xoxo

@Mario lmao! Your comment made ME laugh!! lol. Does Neiko have bumps and patches that bleed a little tiny bit (only when I scratch them)...that is what I had. I bet it is allergies! I hope hers go away without the meds. Soooo happy to make you laugh!!
    xoxoxo

@Amin thank you!!! Hopefully all will be fine! Thanks so much!

@Sharon thank you!!!!! I am gonna be over in a bit...going to start reading the blogs in a few minutes, didn't get a chance to yet today. That was sooo nice of you! Yours will be up tomorrow!!! (tomorrow is Wordless Wednesday so I didn't say much, you will see!) xoxo

  28. @Link yeah I was looking at her like "uh oh, what in the heck is she doing with that crate lol" My Mom always says she was "blessed with 2 kitties and a doggie who are very good at the vet"...Angel Bobo was good at the vet too (Mom's first cat) but not as good as me. I have known my vet since I was a little kit...he gave me a pen to play with when he first met me (he won me over then)....he always says "Cody is a really GREAT cat!" I don't cry, hiss, scratch or anything at the vet! Link I will help show you how to be good! xoxo

  29. Glad you're OK and reading the diagnosis with great interest as we get Boris' results today. You are brave, Cody.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Easy peasy..you did it on purpose..what a good kitty:)

  31. Holy Cat Feathers! I am glad that I am too big to go to the vet in a carrier! The indignity of it all!

  33. Oh my, oh my...I'm sorry you had to go through that. My Sister Zoe had a similar problem, she even scratched out most of her furs. Turns out she was allergic to food with wheat or corn. She is all floofy again. I sure hope you get yours under control soon. Hey, tell Mom to email me if she wants a sticker for her bumper, got a few left. Later!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh Cody! I feel your pain! I have itchy problems too and my special food is duck :) The prednisone will help your itchies and hopefully you'll get better cause it's not good to stay on it. Sorry about all the idignities you had to suffer today - hope the rest of your week is better! Purrs,

    Pip

    ReplyDelete
  35. ahahahhahahaha you got stuck right in the behind! Oh poor you! I'm sorry it is just too funny. You should always hide when they start doing unsual things Cody!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh, poor Cody!! I am so sorry that you got a shot in the tush! I hope you feel better soon.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Au and Target, I hope that Boris's test results come back good! I will be over to check out the results!

@Shawn you sooo made me laugh about the "SHOT IN THE TUSH!" MOL!

@Erika and Blair yeah I thought I WAS hiding!! I just had the wrong end hiding!! He sure tricked me! xoxo

@Cara and Pip, uh-oh my Mom was worried about the prednisone. The vet said that cats do much better on it than dogs and people do. I know I will be on it for about 30 days...she is hoping that things clear up well enough to be off of it. Your duck sounds delicious! I bet it is Royal Canin!

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Brian my Mom said THANK YOU!!! She said she is going to email you as soon as she answers these comments, THANK YOU! Yep that is why I have been on rabbit for months now. The vet thinks it could also be environmental. Mom and Dad are having all of the carpet removed in the living room/dining room and hallway in the next couple of weeks and she is hoping that this might help! xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Angelina and Brad, thank you but with you being famous and all I bet you don't suffer these indignities! xoxo

@Bunny, you just solved the problem! I will get soooo fat that I can't fit into my carrier and then the joke will be on "Dr.Smiley!" Thanks for the great idea! xoxo

@Far Side of Fifty I think not!!!!! MOL!

  40. Err, happened to us, too, before, when we showed our butt! The humans were happy! Ugh!

  41. Oh, Cody, we hope your itchies go away soon.

  42. Thank you for your very wise advice. We will be sure to keep our butts protected at all cost! Get better soon, Cody! May all your itchies go away forever!

  43. Oh I am so sorry, Cody. Itchy is bad. I hope prednisone will help. Hope you feel better soon!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I meant to ask you - Cody gets swollen lips, no? Did the vet mention anything about plastic dishes? Don't know what you use, but we've had cats whose mouths swelled up like balloons from plastic; and kittens with bumpy chins (our vet joked about cat acne) from something that's really a fungus.

Allergic reactions are no easy task to overcome - poor Cody, such troubles for such a sweet kitty! Chester (the big horse/I mean dog) has food allergies; total pain finding the right food!

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Pup Fan I know! Tell me about it! lol

@CindyLu, yep Cody has the thing on his lip too that appears on and off that started ironically right after Dakota moved in that I think could be tied to the allergy. He doesn't eat out of plastic dishes but I did experience that with my first cat because I didn't know that at the time. Nope, no plastic dishes for Cody. I am hoping that once our carpet is ripped out (in the next few weeks) and we get our new furnace that it might help his allergies. I am thinking they are more environmentally related than food related. He has been on the rabbit food since summer that really has helped...this latest breakout is worse than it has been for a few months. We also recently had painting done and I am even wondering if that had something to do with it.Thanks for pointing out about the plastic in the event that I didn't know or that others reading this didn't know. xoxo I hope you find a good solution for Chester too!

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Tamago we hope it helps too!! Thanks!

@Slash and Bronzy we sure hope they go away forever too!!

@Jan thank you!!! Have a fabulous day!

@The Chair Speaks, I feel your pain! My Mom got a pretty darned good laugh out of it too!!

Have a great day everyone and thanks sooo much for caring! We love you! Mom & Cody

  47. This post was too too funny.

Our Buddy has tiny crusty bumps on his head this winter, so I am guessing it is from our dry gas heat or something similar to Cody.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh Cody, Harley had a similar problem. He would get terrible blisters on his lips and acne and swellings under his chin and scabs on his thighs. He has eosinophilic granuloma complex and for a while he was getting Depo Medrol injections every few weeks! Harley is much better now. He doesn't eat anything with chicken or brewer's yeast in it, and has some fish oil added to his food every day.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Poor Cody, Dr. Smiley was very very naughty!!! Thanks for your advice, I will remember and will start practising how to protect my butt before my next VET visit!
    ~ Eva

  50. @Diane Buddy's symptoms are EXACTLY what Cody had. Along with some rather large lumps just under his chin, much larger ones. I am VERY inclined to think Cody's are caused by our dry heat as well. Since we already changed his food and it had cleared up and now we have the heat on higher (and I noticed Cody has a strange habit of sticking his face right by the VENT!) I am almost willing to bet it is caused by the heater. We are having the furnace replaced (It is 35 yrs old, I am NOT kidding!) in the next few weeks and are having a dehumidifier put in and I am interested to see if that helps. ((((hugs)))) to Buddy!

    ReplyDelete
  51. @Priscilla YES "Dr.Smiley" was EXTREMELY naughty lol (but we sooooo LOVE HIM!!) You are lucky Eva, being a "woofie" your butt won't be turned around in the wrong direction in a crate! lol! xoxo

@Daisy, poor Harley! I didn't know he has a similar problem! Ohhhh I feel so bad for him! I will have to find out about fish oil, etc if Cody's current regime doesn't work. I am still inclined to think that it isn't food related and that it is related to the environment. He has been on Royal Canin Rabbit since summer and it had almost entirely cleared up. We will see. Hopefully when we get rid of the carpet and furnace it will help, I hate having him drugged up like this. xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  52. Feel better Cody! Sorry you have the itchies!

Next time you go to the v-e-t, remember you have to be prepared when you meet your adversary. In the military, you would have a "rear guard" for protection! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  53. That's very good advice Cody and our kitties will take that very much to heart -- they don't like the vet either, of course!

We had a kitty (T. Tucker the Terrible Tabby) who suffered badly with dermatitis. We finally figured out he was allergic to plastics so we had to try and limit his contact to plastic bowls, etc. That helped quite a bit. I miss him a lot even now, he was a great cat!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Never turn your back on them Cody, and Ben said he'd eat the rabbit food for you! Glad it's nothing serious though, is prednisone an anti-inflam medicine? One of my cats used to have prednisolone... Mrs Pod will probably have to go back to the vets soon because of her ears...it will end in tears and violence.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hate to say this Cody but the part where you described the back room of the vet's office as "his evil little lab where strange things happen" was FUNNY! I know strange things do happen back there but I never heard the lab described in such a way by a cat before so thank you for explaining your (and every cat out there) perspective!

    ReplyDelete
  56. @The Teacher's Pets THANKS!!! I have to say that was my favorite part too! lol. You are the only one that mentioned that and I THANK YOU for noticing! xoxo

@Barbara actually I LOVE my rabbit food! (I like ALL food!) lol but Ben could taste it. My Mom said she thinks prednisone is an anti-flam med. Ohhhh no....Mrs.Pod is bad at the vet? Tell her to come talk to me and I will help her to not be afraid. Love, Cody

@Marie I am sooo sorry about "Tucker the Terrible Tabby"...awww that made me sooo sad. I understand cause I miss my Bobo as well. This is a little different than the allergies that come from plastic bowls. Bobo used to get "kitty acne" that was from plastic bowls...but he never, ever had the number of scabs, sores, bumps that poor Cody has. We also have a dog now and I am wondering if Cody gets into his beef knuckle etc. xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  57. @Ann "rear guard for protection" lmao!! We will have to keep that in mind for sure! xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  58. Cody, we're twinsies. I have to take prednisone now, too. For my newly discovered tail.

    ReplyDelete
  59. @DHarmonizer "TED" lmao!! I love it! Oh my vet isn't evil at all ( just sneaky!) Nooo not really, he is a great guy and I just like to joke about him. But....sneaking up and giving me a shot in my butt like that wasn't cool!

@alonewithcats what?????!!! YOU do or the kitties!!????? "Newly discovered tail??" Should I be seeing a blog coming through my email soon??? I am on the lookout! So good to hear from you! :)
