My Brother, The DOG!!! Happy "Gotcha Day" Dakota, Love, Cody

Yeah, Yeah I know this is a CAT blog but I decided to take a moment to tell my "Sheltie Brother" Just what he means to me.....

We take the time to share a moment reflecting

We play the best of games!

We like to "chill" together

When I get tired of you I just lock you up

Of all the brothers I could have I am glad I have YOU!

There's Always Room on Mama's lap for both of us!

You always share your water with me

Happy Gotcha Day  Dakota!

I love you!

Cody

  1. Wooooww. So it really is possible for cats and dogs to get along. After seeing all these happy pictures of you two, I guess I will have to re-think my attitude towards Ellwood. Oh must I??? I know, I suppose there are good sides to having a dog friend...can you tell them to me again? I know what you're thinking 'Oh stop being an old stick in the mudd, Lautrec'...I hate to admit it, but you are probably right. I'll have to have an attitude adjustment...soon...just not right now. OK? Oh, and Happy Birthday Dakota!!! Purrs from Lautrec and Tiny

  2. Hi Cat...yep cats and dogs CAN get along! (at least we do MOST of the time! lol)
Yeah...maybe as much of a pain as doggies are to us kitties, maybe an attitude adjustment is in order, or just PRETEND to have a different attitude! lol
I hear ya! Keep that catitude if you want to Lautrec! Oh my brother's actual birthday is Feb but my mom got him on Oct 19th :)
Nose taps to you! Love, Cody

  3. My cat and dog get along! My dog is also enthusiastic about the kittens, but as their claws got sharper she became more aware she doesn't sniff at them so much now

  7. @Seri, do you know my cat never claws at Dakota? Never! Sometimes I wish he would! (when Dakota is barking in his face lol)

  8. @Julia, I know what you mean! My first cat (Bobo) was the only pet for 18 yrs....we got Cody and Dakota after Bobo passed. Bobo would have NEVER, EVER put up with a dog!

  9. @Admiral Hestorb thank you! Actually yes they practically did. We got Cody when he was about 8 wks old...we got Dakota 3 mos later. Dakota is 2 months older than Cody. But they are the same age. When we introduced them to each other I sprayed the same perfume on me, Cody and Dakota....we allowed Cody to check out Dakota in his crate before we took him out. Cody hissed at him once and never hissed at him again. They have gotten along ever since! We never even had to separate them as the vet had advised when we first brought Dakota in.

  17. Oh Cody - how nice of you to say those nice things about Dakota. M used to have a kitty and doggie at the same time too - they got along very well together. In fact, many times they can become the best of friends.

  19. We came from the Naughty Kitty Club to welcome Cody! And now to wish Dakota a very, very happy Gotcha Day!

BTW, we're three shelter adopted cats who live with their human in southeastern Ontario, Canada.

  27. Naawww.. how cute. I got my kitty Moby when my son was 8 months old, and they grew up together. It was like having twins. If one was getting into trouble you can be sure the other wasn't far away. I have the most adorable photos of them together.

  35. Thanks for the cute blog. I have been thinking of adding a canine to my feline family but have hesitated not knowing how they would accept each other. I do not want Chloe and Cecil to get their noses bent out of shape, or their panties in a wad, so I have passed up some cute rescues.

  36. Very sweet pictures. My roommate found my cat Butters when he was 10 days old, abandoned. He grew up with my 2 dogs, mutts ages 8 and 12. When I moved into this house Butters was by himself, then Bebe the 6 yr old schnauzer came along and they hang out all day. :) Well nearly... it is hard to believe until you see it yourself. I believe there is a zoo in Japan that is known for pairing strange species together (cat and mouse, mouse and snake, etc) not sure if you have come across it.
